Anna screamed as the whip cut into the skin of her bare back. Her lord had not been happy that she returned without the soul. She clenched her teeth and tried not to shed a tear as she felt the whip once again cut into her skin. As a demon, she had the power to heal any wound inflicted on her. But these wounds would never completely heal. Because her lord had inflicted them, they would eventually scar and be an ever-present reminder of her failure.

I don't blame that angel. This was my fault. He didn't underestimate me, I underestimated him.

Her lord finally stopped whipping her and she collapsed on the ground, blood flowing freely from her back. She got up and put on the clothing given to her and stood in front of her lord.

"You have failed me, so I must give you a more grievous punishment. I know that you are no stranger to pain, so I will have to give you a mental punishment. You will be suspended. You are being bound to Earth with all of the humans. You will still retain your basic demonic powers, but you will have no dark aura and no wings. Go now."

"As you wish, my lord." On the outside, Anna's expression never changed, but in her mind, she was going crazy.

Not the humans! I hate humans. Anna walked back to her quarters and leaned against the wall. She slid down to her butt and held her head in her hands.

"No. I don't want to remember."

---Flashback--

Anna is 13 and living with her parents it was back in the time where witches were feared and humans executed when they were thought to be witches. It was a time of hate and suspicion. Anna's mother was a doctor who made house calls and her father was her mother's assistant. They had met when she saved his life. Ann's mother's medicine was revolutionary at their time. Most other doctors still believed in leeching and other things of the sort.

Her parents had just come home from a late house call and Anna was just starting to fall asleep when she heard shouting outside.

"KILL THE WITCH! KILL THE WITCH!"

"Mother, what's going on?"

"Nothing, dear, nothing. But you have to get dressed now and come with us. Hurry!"

It then hit her. They though her mother was a witch and they were coming to kill her!

Anna and her parents hurried out the back door. Anna looked back and saw them torch her house.

"Don't look back, Anna! No matter what don't look back. Keep running!"

A mob of people appeared before them and cut off their escape.

"Surrender the witch now and you won't get hurt."

"How can you call her a witch? She has saved your and your loved one's lives many times and you fear her just because your minds are too simple to understand her genius! You disgust me. I will never give up my wife."

"Then you leave us no choice. If you protect a witch then that means that you are also evil. You will be executed along with her for your sins."

Anna's father ran forward and punched a man. He picked up Anna and pushed her through the gap. "Run, Anna, and never look back!"

Anna ran away as fast as she could. Tears ran down her face as she heard the dying screams of her parents. The mob then started reforming.

"We must find the child, the spawn of their evil."

They started to run through and search the forest that Anna was running through. Anna kept running but she tripped and fell. She cut a big gash in her right arm. She didn't get up again. "What's the point?"

She lay on the ground waiting for the mob to find her when a person appeared before her.

"Why do you give up so easily, child?" He had long brown hair and matching brown eyes. He was around her age.

"The name's Hao and I can give you power beyond your wildest dreams, the power to avenge your family. But if you accept, you will be tied to my masters forever.

"What is it? Give it to me! I don't care anymore; I have no life left to live so I will work for your masters if I can get my revenge first."

"Good girl. And they're our masters now."

He held up a hand. One of his nails grew and hardened into a claw. He used it to cut a deep gash in his arm. He held up her arm that had the cut in it and pushed their wounds together then waited for their blood to mingle. After a few seconds of feeling extremely uncomfortable, Anna screamed in pain. Hao released her had and caught her as she fainted.

Hao took her somewhere away from the mob and waited for her to awaken. She did so two hours later.

"I had the weirdest dream."

"Yes, that's normal."

"And I fought…"

"I know, I know."

"So, it's all normal? And it's all done? I'm ready?"

"Yes, all that you experienced while you were out is to be expected. I experienced it too when I was turned. And yes, you are ready if you won against who you were fighting against. You may go now and take care of your business. I'll find you when it's time for you to go."

Anna ran off and experienced her first transformation. She saw the world from red eyes and ran back to the place that had previously been her home. When she arrived she stared at the charred rubble that had once been her happy home.

"We thought you'd return here, demon child."

Anna snarled at the mob that had killed her parents. They looked startled. They didn't think that she would be this powerful. They started to back away.

Anna killed everyone in the mob that night. She then proceeded to kill all of the humans in her village. Before the night was over, Anna's body was covered in blood that was not her own. The previous gash that she had had already healed.

"Are you ready to go?" Hao appeared looking undisturbed by the carnage all around him. She nodded and followed meekly after him. After that night Anna always hated humans. She worked as hard as she could so she could become the top demon and travel up to earth and drag filthy human souls down to Hell where they belonged. She never looked back after that night.

--End Flashback-

Anna looked up, her face streaked with tears. She hadn't cried since that night, but she couldn't help it. She didn't want to go back to living with the humans. Earth was her real Hell and Hell was her home.

Anna started as her doorknob rattled and then turned. Hao burst in.

"Anna! I came as soon as I heard…"

Hao had become her best friend. The other demons ridiculed her because she had been turned at such a late age. Most demons were born demons and the ones that were turned were usually turned at a very young age. She had surprised them by being so strong and determined. She had to face many hardships in climb to the top. No one wanted to associate with the human-demon. How she hated being called that. Only Hao understood. He knew everything about her.

"Wow. I haven't seen you cry since…since…a long, long time ago. Have you been thinking about that night?"

"Yes. And now I have to live with the humans. Why me?"

Hao also hated the humans, just as much as she did. He tried to comfort Anna as much as he could.

"Don't worry. Just sit out your punishment and then you'll be back in no time, kicking human ass again."

"Thank you Hao. I guess I'll be going now. I have everything I need." Anna gave Hao a hug as she stood up. She had all of her belongings in a red cloth which hung from a stick. Hao saw her off to the Gates. As they walked, the demons who had heard the news were jeering at Anna. Hao told her to ignore them and she did. They waved to each other as she was transported back to earth.

"Good job, Yoh. You did really great against that demon," Yoh's boss complimented him.

"Aw, it was nothing." He was back in his stiff robes. He hated those robes. It was really hard having to live 24/7 in them. He'd much rather live like the humans. Their world was so beautiful. That was one of the many reasons he had signed up for a soul-saving job: he got to go to earth and wear earth clothes. He loved it down there.

"Yoh, we have another mission for you."

"So soon?"

"Yes. We recently heard that a demon has been permanently tied to earth for an undetermined length of time. This must be a new plan that Hell has cooked up. They would not send one of their most powerful demons to earth without a reason. Only the weak, unwanted demons permanently reside on earth. Those are so weak that they can actually die. Hell would not send an immortal demon to earth without a good reason. Your mission is to monitor the demon's actions and stop any possible wrongdoing."

"As you wish." Yoh could hardly contain his excitement. He was going to be living on earth for a long time! His mind wandered back to the female demon.

I sure hope it's her…

Yoh went into his room and changed into his earth clothes. His best friend, Manta, burst into the room.

"Yoh, I heard what happened, it's horrible…"

"What are you talking about, Manta? This is awesome!"

"But you're going to have to be stuck down therefore such a long time!"

"I know, isn't it awesome? Well I gotta go, Manta. See you when I see you!" Manta sweatdropped as Yoh ran away happily.

Anna once again made a crater as she landed. She got up and started to walk away. But without the extra senses granted to her by her lord, she didn't sense the angel behind her.

Yes! It is her! Yoh thought. He stealthily followed her.

They had been walking for a long time. Anna just seemed to be wandering aimlessly. It was getting dark and all sorts of people were coming out to play…

"Hey, girlie! You look lonely. Why don't you join us and have a little fun?"

Anna ignored the gang of men and kept walking.

"Hey! Don't you ignore me!"

One of the men ran forward and grabbed Anna's arm. She became very mad and started her transformation. When she turned around to look at the guy, her eyes were red.

"Oh, so you're a demon too? That makes it more fun."

Anna was momentarily shocked as each of the guys transformed. Then she became calm again. She had heard of these types of demons. They were weak, a disgrace to Hell. They were bound to walk the earth and blend in with the filthy humans.

The men looked at her with green eyes. That meant that they had low skills. The more powerful demons had red eyes, like Anna herself. But there were many of them and they could overwhelm her.

The leader launched himself at her. She took a defensive stance and when he got to her, she stopped him, punched him in the gut, scratched up his face and chest, and then threw him behind her, unconscious.

"Anyone else want to try me?"

They all rushed her at the same time, just as she had feared. While all of them were weak, there were too many for her to deal with without her extra powers. She almost blacked out when her head connected with the sidewalk.

Yoh watched as Anna tossed aside the gang leader. She was good. But when the whole mob attacked her, he wondered why she didn't use her extra powers. She could easily get rid of those creeps. His stomach lurched as her head connected with the cement and she almost blacked out. Something within him snapped when he watched the guys advance on her, ready to do their business. He rushed in front of her, ready to protect her from them.

Anna started when someone rushed in front of her. She squinted trying to see who it was. Her head spun and she almost blacked out again.

"Get outta the way and you won't get hurt, kid."

Yoh stared at the demons. They were so weak that they couldn't even sense that he was an angel. He smirked at them as his wings burst from his back and he started glowing. He threw a low level blast at their feet and they ran away screaming. He then turned to Anna who was looking up at him in confusion.

Anna was confused. Who had saved her? All she saw was a blinding light and she looked up into the most handsome face she had ever seen. It was the last thing she saw before she fainted.

Yoh picked up the unconscious Anna and flew off to the place that his boss had provided for him. He laid her down and waited for her to wake up. As she was sleeping he examined her features. She was wearing the same clothes as before. She had long, smooth, silky legs. Her dress was very very short. She had a slender waist and curvy hips. Yoh hardly failed to notice that her chest was large. Her face was very beautiful too. She looked peaceful when she was sleeping, almost innocent. Her lips were smooth and pink and he found himself staring at them and drawing closer and closer to her face. Suddenly, her eyes opened. She stared up at the face that was so close to her's and instinctively slapped it.

"Hentai! What were you doing?"

"Hey, is that any way to thank your rescuer? I was only checking to see if you were okay," he lied.

Her eyes widened in recognition. "It's you! That angel. Why did you rescue me? I'm a demon. I would think that you would be glad that I was going to get hurt."

"I don't want anyone to get hurt, regardless of who they are."

Anna analyzed him with emotionless eyes. He was even cuter close up. He was slender and muscular. Also very tall. His chest was bare, seeing as his wings were still out. She stared at it. Oh, how she would love to run her hands over those muscles…. She blushed as she caught herself staring. Yoh still had that goofy grin on his face.

She looks so pretty when she blushes.

"Well thank you for saving me, but I will be taking my leave now."

Yoh watched sadly as she walked away. But he became excited again when he realized that he would be seeing her again the next day. He couldn't wait until tomorrow.
