--------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------
The Arashu family had a long history that dated back to almost 200 B.C. They were people descended from one of the most prodigious shaman families in the world and they were proud of their heritage of powerful shaman.
Although they were powerful and renowned for their abilities, they were cruel to their spirits and forced them to join them. Any spirit that they wanted, they would get. They gathered the most strong spirits in the land and would even kill accomplished martial artists or swordsman to attain their spirits.
They earned a reputation for being ruthless and they would mercilessly kill anyone who stood in their way to greatness.
The Arashu were strict when it cam to training their children to become shaman. They would force their children to train night and day and pass the point of exhaustion. They were somewhat sadistic about training and would even go as far as working their children until they were close to death. Children who were weak were killed without hesitation, this family despised weaklings fearing that they would bring shame to the family name. Sometimes, they would perform suicidal rituals on their children since being close to death which often made their furyoku levels go up even higher. Also, they made sure that by the age of two or three, their children could summon shikigamis.
They also believed in a pure bloodline so they would arrange marriages within the family such as a cousin marrying a cousin or a brother marrying his sister. They didn't care whether it was incest, they wanted the family name to live on ,but they would occasionally arrange marriages with other commanding shaman families.
There was little love in the Arashu family, they didn't believe in such things nor did they believe in friendship, only alliances to make themselves stronger.
As ruthless and sinister as they were, they still cared about nature and the well being of the planet. They respected everything about nature except the people who were not shamans or were not influential shamans. These people were weak and disgraceful was what the Arashu family thought.
What also made them as proud and as arrogant as they were was the fact that they were descendants of one of the previous Shaman Kings, so they concluded that they had every right to act as they did.
They were proud, ruthless, powerful, merciless, sinister and considered the cruelest shaman family on the planet.
Naruyu was one of the Arashu ,but unlike the rest of her family, she was nice and kind spirited. She was the youngest Arashu of the most current generation of her family. Her family berated her for her kind heart ,but didn't kill her because at a very young age, she had extremely high furyoku. Also her grandmother was also kind and wouldn't allow her son and his wife to kill her.
"She's too caring!" Her father protested, "Although, she is strong ,but still-"
His mother smacked him on the head with her cane, "She may be different personality wise ,but why throw such talent away? Naruyu has a high furyoku level, higher than her brothers Tomo and Shinra and yet you wan to throw her potential to possibly be Shaman King away just because she is kind."
Her father furrowed his brows and frowned, "Potential to be Shaman King, her? You're joking mother." He rubbed his head which was sore were she had struck him.
"I'm not Katsao," she replied coolly gripping her cane, "As your mother, I will be obeyed and my decisions respected."
Katsao nodded fuming, "Yes mother…."
Takea, Katsao's wife, put her hand on his shoulder, "Your mother's right, Naruyu could bring more glory to the family name despite…this little drawback. Tomo and Shinra are four and six years older than she is and she already has more furyoku than them, Katsao."
Katsao glanced at her, "Fine ,but she still is going to marry Saito, your sister's son."
Takea grinned a little, "I don't think my sister, Raito, will want her to marry her son. She would consider it an insult for us to give Naruyu to him, she's not exactly Arashu bride material. How bout we ask the Tao family is they want their son marrying her?"
Katsao chuckled, "No, if she truly has the potential my mother says she has, I want to keep her within the family. Isn't that right mother?"
His mother glared at him than coughed, "I would rather have her not get engaged to such a stupid boy like Saito, he's ten years older than her and might take advantage of the situation because she'll be eleven when they marry."
Takea laughed, "You're really to much Mitsuno. If you remember, I married Katsao when I was ten and bore Tomo when I was thirteen, than Shinra when I was fifteen and than finally Naruyu when I was nineteen. I'm twenty-one now and I don't regret marrying your son."
"Is she gets pregnant we'll deal with it then," Katsao said. "We have nine years to worry about such things."
Takea wrapped her arm around her husbands and looked at Mitsuno, "Your son's right," he mused, "Having children at a young age is what the Arashu family has always done and if my memory serves, you had Katsao when you were thirteen also."
"What age Naruyu gets pregnant is not important at the moment," Mitsuno snapped at her daughter-in-law, "It's the fact that Saito is ten years older than her! Katsao is only three years older than you and that isn't a big difference ,but ten years is!"
Takea scowled, "Don't get so testy, we first have to ask my sister about it. Nothing is confirmed yet and if that doesn't work she will marry one of her brothers."
Mitsuno sighed heavily. She did not want her granddaughter to marry her cousin or one of her brothers, she didn't want Naruyu to marry at all.
"If this discussion is over, Takea and I have to oversee Tomo and Shinra's training," he and Takea bowed slightly than left the room.
Mitsuno watched them leave than sat down in the chair behind her. She wasn't that old, the cane just showed her was little authority in the house, her husband and his parents had more authority than she. Mitsuno was only thirty-seven ,but she felt weary because of all the arguments that took place in the main Arashu mansion.
Suddenly, the door to her room opened a little and a small girl with short dark navy blue hair popped her head in , "Grandmother Mitsuno?"
Mitsuno smiled a bit, "Naruyu," her smile grow broader, "Aren't you supposed to be training?"
Naruyu stepped into the room and giggled, "I already finished my chores grandmother."
Mitsuno patted her lap, "Come here."
Naruyu eagerly jumped into her lap. Naruyu was very small for a two-year-old ,but she already spoke perfectly. She was cute too ,but her parents failed to see how truly wonderful she was since they hated her personality. Naruyu began twiddling her fingers, "What were you talking about with mommy and daddy?"
"Nothing important," Mitsuno replied.
Naruyu looked hard up at her grandmother, "It sure sounded important. Why won't you tell me?" She crossed her small arms across her chest and continued staring upsettingly at Mitsuno.
"Just about cousin Saito," Mitsuno said, giving in just a little to her granddaughter.
"Oh," Naruyu said, "I don't like Saito much. He's mean and so is auntie Raito."
Mitsuno chuckled softly patting her granddaughter on her head, "Such a sweet girl should respect her elders better even if she doesn't like them."
Naruyu looked like she was reasoning this in her head than shook it, "I don't like auntie Raito, uncle Yutaka or their son, Saito."
"Naruyu," Mitsuno said warningly, "Whether or not you like them , you will respect them."
Naruyu snorted, "Fine, but that doesn't mean I have to like them right?"
Mitsuno nodded.
-*-*-*-*-Three Years Later-*-*-*-*-
Naruyu was now five and had just beaten her brothers Tomo and Shinra in a sparring match, whenever they sparred, she was always the victor. Her abilities had improved dramatically and for a five-year-old, she was an excellent shaman.
Tomo grimaced and ruffled his light blue hair, "You beat us again shrimp." He was going onto the age of eleven and felt embarrassed being beaten by his younger sister.
Shinra frowned, "It's not fair!" he whined in his nine-year-old voice, "You don't even have a guardian spirit yet!" He crossed his arms and looked at her with great dislike, "It's not fair at all, Tomo and me do the same training you do and we've been training longer too!" He than pointed his finger at her, "You probably just got lucky again, right Tomo?"
"Yea, most likely, she is just five." Tomo glared at her a few seconds than walked out of the sparring room followed closely by an angry Shinra.
Naruyu stared after them than left the room in search for her parents. She did not have to search though since they were waiting outside the room for her.
"Impressive," her father said, "And at your age too."
He mother smiled, "Yes, you will bring much pride to our family Naruyu."
Naruyu was overjoyed to hear praise from her parents, "Really?"
"Yes," Katsao agreed looking at her, "You will make a fine Arashu bride."
Takea nodded, "Quite right, Saito will be pleased to know his fiancé is powerful."
"What?" Naruyu asked confused, "Why would I be Saito's fiancé?" She wondered if her parents were lying to her, Saito was a truly awful person and she couldn't imagine marrying him.
"We arranged it darling," Takea said holding onto Katsao's arm, "On your eleventh birthday you will marry him."
Naruyu tried to understand what she was hearing, "That's only six years away…"
"It's best for the family, Naruyu," her father said in a calm voice, "Marriages like this are always arranged. Tomo is already approaching his wedding to marry my brother's daughter, Ayame and Shinra's wedding to her younger sister, Kai, is also coming up. Marrying a cousin in our family is perfectly natural, although sometimes we have to marry siblings."
Takea glanced at her daughter and smirked, "Your age differences are something you must deal with, although, he didn't really seem to care once we told him you were a better fighter than your brothers at your age. He seems very eager for the marriage actually, he's one of your better cousins, you should be happy that you're marrying him."
-*-*-*-*-Later that day…-*-*-*-*-
Naruyu sat in her grandmother's lap like she usually did after a hard day of training to improve her shaman abilities. She stared hard at the wall in front of her thinking about what news her parents had told her earlier. She nearly gagged at the thought of marrying Saito, he was mean to her all the times he visited. She hated his greasy long black hair that he kept in a pony tail, his light green eyes and his personality was about as cruel as could be. He always acted like she was the idiot instead of him even though she probably could beat him in math problems or literature, she was a very advanced five-year-old that she was.
"Grandmother," Naruyu whispered, "Do they really expect me to marry him?"
Mitsuno remained silent.
"Grandmother?" Naruyu said looking up at Mitsuno, "Do they?"
Mitsuno looked down at her granddaughter for a few seconds than turned her head in a different direction, "Yes, they do. Now hold still, I`m trying to braid your hair, it has grown very long over such a short time."
Naruyu couldn't help fidgeting, "Sorry," she mumbled trying to stay still in her grandmother's lap. "Do I have to marry him?"
"Hold still Naruyu," Mitsuno scolded Naruyu.
"Well, do they?" Naruyu asked peering at her grandmother crossly.
Mitsuno did her trade mark heavy sigh, "Yes for the thousandth time, now stay still."
-*-*-*-*-Two Years Later-*-*-*-*-
Naruyu wandered around outside thinking her dilemma, her parents told her she was at the age to acquire her own guardian ghost and that they would give her one in a few days.
She leaned against an old oak tree in the mansion's backyard and stared up at the sky. She wondered about what kind of ghost she'd received, maybe warriors like the ones her brothers had or maybe a martial artist like her father had or perhaps even a mike like her mother had.
She couldn't wait to get her ghost and talked to the spirit Iea, her spirit friend, about it.
"I wonder if it will be a boy or a girl Iea." Naruyu thought sitting down.
Iea hovered above her head and flipped her long white hair over left shoulder, "Who knows?"
"Do you think the spirit will be nice?" Naruyu said looking up at Iea.
Iea closed her red eyes and shrugged, "Like I said, who knows? But judging from your family…" Iea put her hand over her mouth when she saw Naruyu glaring at her than said, "I've been with your family for centuries, I'll I do is sense for other spirits depending on their skill level. I know nothing of the sort of what kind of ghost your parents are going to give you."
"Oh…" Naruyu muttered staring at the other trees in front of her, "Is my family really, you know, not very nice?"
"I hate to say so ,but yes," Iea grumbled, "Not very nice at all." Iea than saw the distressed look on Naruyu's face, "You're nothing like them though, you're a sweet person."
"Is that why they push me harder than Tomo and Shinra?" Naruyu questioned Iea.
"Maybe," Iea replied with an honest voice, "Also, maybe that's way they are setting you up with Saito. He's as mean as your family comes and the probably think that he'll make you mean too."
Naruyu than gazed at the clear blue sky above them, "Makes sense. Still, they push me way too hard and if I complain they smack me or beat me. If I can't perform to their wishes they threaten to kill me. How long has my family been like this?"
"As long as I've been here and probably longer," Iea said.
-*-*-*-*-Three Days Later…-*-*-*-*-
"This is your spirit," Takea said pointing to a teenage girl ghost surrounded by a dark aurora, "She's a dark mage."
The ghost looked down at Naruyu as she stared back. The ghost looked about sixteen, had black hair with red and purple highlights and she had purple eyes. She was wearing a traditional kimono that was black with red designs on it and gripped a oaken staff with a precious stone on it.
Her father pushed Naruyu forward, "Her name's Kalithdra, she's been serving our families about three centuries longer than Iea."
Her father and mother than left the room leaving Naruyu and Kalithdra alone.
"I'm Naruyu!" Naruyu beamed introducing herself, "It's nice to meat you Kalithdra."
Kalithdra squinted at her, "You're kind of short for a seven-year-old Miss Naruyu."
Naruyu clutched her fists, "I am not."
Kalithdra narrowed her eyes, "Right squirt."
Naruyu stuck her tongue and to her surprise Kalithdra stuck her tongue right back and made the raspberry noise.
Naruyu scowled, "You're a mean spirit."
Kalithdra shook her head, "No I'm not, I just don't like little kids."
Iea suddenly appeared out of nowhere and began laughing, "They gave you her, she's so disobedient! You`d be better off with me."
Naruyu and Kalithdra did not look amused.
"I can't believe they're making me baby-sit you!" Kalithdra snorted, crossing her arms and leaning back slightly, "You're a little kid."
"So?" Naruyu interjected, "I happen to be a good shaman!"
"She really is Kalithdra," Iea said to Kalithdra who was sulking in the corner of the room, "She even beats her older brothers all the time."
Kalithdra glanced over at Naruyu, "Fine, I'll give her a chance."
-*-*-*-*-Three Years Later-*-*-*-*-
"Father," Naruyu whimpered collapsing on the floor, "Please, I can't do this anymore, I'm so tired."
"Get up!" Katsao shouted at her, "You're going to get this right or else!" He hit her the back with his whip making her cry out in pain, "I will not tolerate a weakling in this household, understand?"
Naruyu nodded and with all her effort stood up, "Y-yes…"
"Good, now summon more shikigamis!" he yelled, holding his whip tightly in his hand. "There are no excuses for being weak!"
Naruyu looked at him, "This would be easier if I oversouled with Kalithdra."
He hit her with his whip again, making her scream louder and than falling onto her knees. "You can't rely on your ghost all the time, ghosts are just tools to make ourselves stronger and that is it. You will not became as strong as you should be until you've reached your physical limit ,but you also must go even beyond that if you hope to ever accomplish anything."
Naruyu glared at him ,but summoned her strength once more and stood up slouching a bit. She than began concentrating what little furyoku she had left to summon the shikigamis ,but unfortunately she didn't have enough and fell onto her back panting heavily.
"Weakling!" Katsao shouted throwing her against the wall a few hours later, "You have begun going soft! You are being a disgrace right now, Saito will not be happy when he finds out his fiancé is a slacker!"
Naruyu slowly got on her knees, "I-I don't care about Saito. He can go to hell for all I care…"
Her father slapped her across the face, "You will respect Saito and be submissive to him on your wedding night which is in eight months may I add!" He looked at her fiercely, "You'll do as your told girl!"
Takea walked into the room and stood by her husband, "Your father is right Naruyu, you will do as we tell you."
Naruyu nodded silently as they glared at for a few minutes until Mitsuno entered the room, "I will not allow you to manhandle my granddaughter Katsao and Takea." Mitsuno said furiously, "Now leave, I want to talk to her in private."
Takea and Katsao looked like they wanted to disobey her order ,but left hesitantly and closed the door.
Mitsuno kneeled down put looked at Naruyu, "Don't worry about your marriage or your parents. Wedding nights aren't so bad, just ask Tomo and Shinra."
Naruyu looked away from her grandmother, "I don't want to be married to Saito." Tears began filling her eyes ,but her grandmother wiped them away and than hugged her comfortingly.
"I didn't want to marry your grandfather either," she said soothingly, "I know how you feel. Being forced into such a thing is hard."
Naruyu began crying again, "It isn't fair either, I'm going to have my virginity taken away from me by someone who is a lot older than me so it will hurt much more."
Mitsuno breathed out slowly, "Saito is an adult and you are still just a small child, it will hurt beyond anything you can think of right now."
Naruyu closed her eyes and leaned against her grandmother, "I won't get pregnant will I?"
Mitsuno shook her head, "You haven't began your period yet so don't worry about that sweetie."
"It's hard not to, thirteen is a young to bear a child, Tomo's wife has already given birth to twins and Shinra's wife is pregnant and is close to delivery." she whispered softly, "They are very young too."
Kalithdra appeared next to Mitsuno and hugging Naruyu along with Iea, "I won't let the slime ball lay a hand on you squirt." Kalithdra and Naruyu were now good friends and Kalithdra was protective over her young shaman.
"I'm afraid there is nothing you can do Kalithdra," Mitsuno said, "Takea and Katsao would punish you harshly."
Kalithdra looked worriedly at Naruyu, "Will she be okay?"
"I don't know," Mitsuno shrugged, "Saito is a lot older than she is…"
Naruyu pulled back from her grandmother a bit, "I'll be fine, I'm tough."
Mitsuno hugged her even tighter, "Naruyu…"
Iea and Kalithdra exchanged unhappy glances.
-*-*-*-*-Wedding Night-*-*-*-*-
Naruyu laid back on the bed in Saito's chamber waiting for him silently. She was bracing herself for what was about to happen and wondered if it would hurt.
Saito entered in a few minutes with a white robe hanging loosely around him, he looked down at his cousin who was laying on the bed looking up at the ceiling and smiled.
Naruyu saw him out of the corner of her eye than shut her eyes tightly, "Can we just get this over with?" she mumbled.
Saito chuckled and sat down on the bed, "Young cousin, you're clearly not going to enjoy this as much as me…" he leaned forward and licked her cheek, "Didn't you know that Arashu men are known for their long ejaculations?" He smiled cruelly as he carefully placed himself over her he leaned forward and kissed her lips softly than carefully took off the light silk nightgown she was wearing.
She blushed and covered her tiny breasts ,but he quickly snatched both of her hands with his left hand and pinned them above her head. "You can't hide from me Naruyu, I'm going to take you whether you want me to or not and you can trust me that I'm going to take my time."
He kissed her again this time shoving his tongue into her mouth untying his robe as he did this than tossing his robe onto the floor with her nightgown. Than using his free hand he started fondling her small, hardly formed, breasts. He than moved his mouth to her small right nipple and licked it in a circular motion causing her to moan a tiny bit. He than applied the same treatment to the other breast until it was hard.
He kissed her again than kissed her neck, savoring the sweet taste of her flesh.
After a few minutes he took one of her hands and made her grab his hardening shaft. He forced her to feel it and to stroke, he groaned as he guided her hand in doing so.
She rolled her eyes waiting for this to be over.
He than rolled over so she was on top, than he sat up towering over her. He pushed her head down to his shaft, "Well, cousin," he said, "Open your mouth."
She pulled away from him and backed up, "No, I won't do that." She knew what he wanted her to do, "I'm a child, this is incest and is illegal."
He grabbed her and pulled her forward and hissed, "Do it or you will regret it!" He than shoved her mouth onto his shaft and holding onto her head. He moved her head back and forth moaned with pleasure, he was in ecstasy.
He than released her head and she withdrew spitting than wiping her mouth than she glared at him, "Don't ever make me do that again you bastard!"
He smirked at her, "You're my wife I can make you do whatever I wish, I can force you to put me in bliss whenever I desire you." He pulled her towards his and she blushed deeply when she felt his erect shaft against her.
He than claimed her mouth again then made her lay down on her back and shove two of his fingers inside her vagina.
She arched her back and bit her lip to keep herself from groaning with delight. Her body loved the touch ,but she didn't. She didn't want to give him any satisfaction in what he was doing to her.
When he took out his fingers she saw a little white liquid substance on them and turned her head, she felt ashamed.
He than whispered into her ear, "This is really going to hurt…"
Than before she could react, with one plunge, he entered her. Her scream could he heard from every room in the mansion.
Mitsuno looked at the ground as Kalithdra and Iea hovered gloomily over head.
-*-*-*-*-Two Years Later-*-*-*-*-
It had been two years since her marriage to Saito and she was thankful she wasn't pregnant unlike her brother's wives who altogether had bared seven children is six years. She had not seen most of the nieces and nephews ,but she knew that some of them had been killed because they were weak and she also preferred not getting into her brother's lives.
Although she had to please Saito whenever he wanted, she looked forward to the upcoming event, the Shaman King Tournament. She had already received her oracle bell and defeated her three opponents. The only problem was that her parent's didn't want her to go, they knew she was great with Kalithdra as her ghost ,but lately they had been unusually hard on her and had forbidden her to go.
She knew she'd find a way to attend and she was right, her grandmother had bought her airplane tickets to America and had even located Patch Village for her, it was just a matter of sneaking out of the mansion.
Naruyu recalled the conversation with her parents about the matter…
"No, I won't let you go!" he father shouted.
She looked at him with pleading eyes, "Why not? I'm better than Tomo and Shinra, these two are jokes compared to my abilities as a shaman."
"True ,but still, it is family tradition to only let the sons compete," her mother countered, "We are a proud family, what would other families think if we let little girls compete?"
Naruyu looked at her parents squarely, "When I was little you said I was Shaman King material, that I had a better chance than Tomo or Shinra!" She crossed her arms as she held her head up, "Those two are the ones who should be called `little girls'."
"Naruyu," Katsao said testily to his daughter, "I've told you countless times, it doesn't matter whether or not you have the power to be Shaman King, the only thing that matters is you know what you're going to do when you get Great Spirit."
"Yes," her mother said fanning herself with her fan, "What do you plan to do?"
Naruyu stared out in space for a few seconds than realization came over her, "I never really thought of what I was going to do…"
"You see…" Takea said sweetly to her daughter, "You haven't thought about it, despite what Mitsuno says, you're not going."
Katsao nodded faintly, "You aren't going and that's that."
Naruyu left the room in a storm and hurried over to where her grandmother was, sitting on a bench in the outside garden. She carelessly sat down and sprawled her legs out in front of her, "Do you think I should go?"
Mitsuno was in a trance and didn't appear to have heard what her thirteen-year-old granddaughter had asked.
"Grandmother," she whined pathetically tapping Mitsuno's shoulder gently.
"What child?" Mitsuno almost snapped when she got out of her trance.
"Do you think I should go?" Naruyu repeated staring out at the flowers in the garden that were now in full bloom.
Mitsuno thought in silence for a few minutes than spoke directly to her, "You deserve to go more than your brothers, you have more potential than them," she said, carefully picking her words so Naruyu wouldn't get full of herself, "I will see to it that you go whether or not your parents approve of it. Just be careful about who you say your last name to."
"Why?" Naruyu asked confused, "What's wrong with Arashu?"
"It's just…" Mitsuno started slowly, "We've been known to be a crude and unkind lot, so if you plan on making any friends while you're there, don't tell them your last name is Arashu."
Naruyu agreed quietly and left it at that as she want back to her room.
When the day came, three weeks later, to leave she casually went up to her room where her grandmother was waiting for her. She couldn't believe she was actually going to escape her family for the duration of the tournament and get away from Saito.
"Good luck Naruyu and Kalithdra, don't forget to take Iea with you." Mitsuno smiled, "You will make a fine Shaman King, or in your case, queen."
Naruyu returned the smile, "I'm not doing this for myself, I want to make the world a better place for people, shamans and ghosts."
Mitsuno hugged her granddaughter, "Such a courageous girl you are. I also have something for you…" Mitsuno reached into her pocket and took out a silver chain necklace with a small gold bead in the center with a dragon carved into it, "This is for you, for good luck." She slipped it over Naruyu's head and navy blue pigtails than kissed her on the forehead, "You be careful you hear."
Naruyu nodded as she climbed out her window, "I will. Don`t worry I`ve got Kalithdra and Iea with me."
Iea and Kalithdra grinned as they waved goodbye to Mitsuno.
When Mitsuno was sure the were gone she called upon her own guardian ghost, "Jymorgyun," a small fire dragon appeared, "Watch after them please."
Jymorgyun hissed quietly, "Yes Lady Mitsuno…" And then spread it's crimson wings and followed Naruyu, Iea and Kalithdra closely behind.
--------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------Broken Doll: So what do you think? This chapter was basically Naruyu's life leading up to the point she leaves, the Shaman King characters will appear in the next chapter. Peace out.
