[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Mikauzoran: Hello. This is my first fan fiction, so be nice. I do accept flames, but please use good grammar and spelling. I hope you all like the fic. It is my first so I don't expect much from the early chapters. It gets better as it goes along, I promise. Thanks for taking your time to give this a read.

Disclaimer: I don't own Shaman King.

Greetings From My Dull, Sad, and Downright Pathetic Life
As I sat on the riverbank, waiting for my knight in shinning armor to rescue me, random thoughts flew through my head. `What if he never comes?' `Will I be left to rot?' `When is he coming?' `What does he look like?'

My thoughts were interrupted suddenly by a hand being gently placed on my shoulder. I quickly stood and turned to face the new arrival.

`Gawd…it's him, and he's gorgeous.' The young man that stood before me looked no older than fifteen. He had gentle light brown eyes, and shoulder length mahogany hair with orange headphones around his neck; a total hunk, plus the fact that he was sooo built. He looked familiar though; he looked almost exactly like that demon Hao.

`It must be Yoh, Hao's twin brother come to save me.' I reasoned.

Yoh Asakura swept me off my feet, and swung me around before kissing me passionately.

“Ivy.” A far away voice called to me, but I was too caught up in the kiss to hear. “Ivy…Ivy!” `That voice again!' It was the voice that always wakes me from my dreams. The voice of my cruel fiancée, Hao.

And abruptly I found myself back in the small hut in the Patch village starring face to face with the man my parents had arranged for me to marry.

“Ivy, you were daydreaming again. Next time I catch you, it'll cost you, baka onna.” I knew he would literally take a knife to my throat (or chest, or lungs, or if he was feeling particularly mean he would stab me in the stomach or slit my wrist. It would take longer to die that way.) If he caught me again, which he most likely would.

“Opacho, look after her and make sure she doesn't try to escape again.” Hao motioned to his little African American follower. I was glad it was Opacho and not some of his other followers. Opacho was fun to talk to and didn't try to flirt with me or touch me in any inappropriate ways like some of the others.

“Ivy?” the deep sound of my fiancée's voice next to my ear woke me from my wandering thoughts again. My entire body stiffened as he inched his way closer and closer to me. Oh God! He wouldn't try anything would he? “Do something useful with your time; don't just sit there. Understood?”

Hao smiled that awful smile of his and I knew he wanted me to retaliate. I wouldn't give him the satisfaction. “Yes.” I mumbled.

“Yes what?”

“Yes master.” I hissed back.

“Good onna. Such an obedient little pet.” He ruffled my hair and kissed me on the cheek. “Goodbye pet. Don't run away or we'll have to get you a leash.” With that he disappeared in a column of fire, as was his usual fashion.

“Mistress? Is Ivy alright?” Opacho gently nudged my knee.

“Yes Opacho, Ivy is alright…” I giggled, and smiled slightly as I adopted Opacho's habit of talking in third person.

“Good. Opacho was worried about Mistress Ivy. Opacho likes Ivy. She is a good friend.” Opacho gave me a hug and a huge smile. I always felt better when I talked to Opacho.

“And I like you too, but…I hate him, Opacho. I really do. I know that he just wants to save the world, but he's going about it all wrong. He's just a murdering monster! And those stupid X-LAWS! They're no better than he is! At this rate we'll all end up in Hell for all the innocent blood we've spilt!” I was in full-blown hysteria by now. I always get so worked up when I talk about Hao, and the X-LAWS.

“Mistress should not talk that way about Master! He is no monster or murderer! He kills to save the Earth for us all!” Till the end of time Opacho would stand up for Hao. It was his way. `What a shame; so young and already such a twisted view of the world.' In the words of that tin bucket Jeanne “I feel sad for you.”

“I want out, Opacho. I'm sick of all the killing. I know I promised Hao I would marry him like our parents arranged if he would help me get my horrifically enormous powers under control so I could stop accidentally killing people, but enough is enough. I'm leaving to search for my sister.” I was leaving and not coming back. I was through.

“Sister?” I had all but forgotten Opacho was in the room when his voice reminded me of his presence. “What sister? Tell Opacho.”

“My twin sister. We were separated from birth because my parents found out I was a shaman and abandoned me at the Tao's palace to be raised as a Tao. I just found out I wasn't really `Judo Tao' a few short months before I came to Hao with my power problems.” For this whole paragraph I had had my back to him, but I could just see Opacho nod his head and mouth the word `Oh.'

“What is Ivy's sister's name?” I knew that now he was just stalling me; praying he could keep me talking long enough for Hao to return and prevent me from running away for the umpteenth time this week.

“Sorry, Opacho, I'm leaving now. Here. I'll fix it so you don't get in too much trouble with Hao for letting me get away.” I picked up Opacho and a sheet from the bed.

“What is Mistress Ivy doing?” Opacho said with a hint of fear in his small voice.

Before he could protest I had tied Opacho up in the sheet and gagged him with a pocket-handkerchief. “I'm so sorry Opacho, but I can't have Hao hurting you because of me. Goodbye my little friend.” With that I kissed him on his gargantuan forehead and turned toward the door.

On my way out I stopped in the doorframe and paused for a minute before saying “And by the way, my real last name is Kyôyama. My sister has no idea that I exist, but I don't think I'll tell her. I'll stay with her group of shamans for a while and see if she figures it out. Her name is Anna Kyôyama.” Then I left that place, hopefully never to return.
