Wake Up Call
I woke up early the next morning and decided to take a little self-guided tour around the house. I was walking around a corner when I bumped into someone. “Ow!” I tried to stifle a scream.

“Are you okay Miss Ivy?” I looked up into the face of Yoh's guardian ghost, Amidamaru.

I got back to my feet and dusted myself off saying, “Yeah, I'll be fine. It was my fault, anyway. Oh, and call me Ivy. Just Ivy.”

“All right…Ivy.” He nodded.

I started to walk off when I noticed Yoh's sword lying in the middle of the hallway. I picked it up thinking, `Lazy Yoh, he probably set it down and forgot all about it.' I smiled at the thought of the lazy, lovable, lug.

Walking on in a bit of a daze, I realized that if I staid with Yoh, I would be free of Hao. I was finally free! I didn't notice that Amidamaru was following me until he spoke again.

“Ivy, how do you really feel about Yoh?”

“Huh?!” I nearly fell over.

“I asked, `how do you really feel about Yoh?'” He patiently repeated.

“No, I heard you. I just want to know why I should tell you?” I continued walking.

“I feel it is my responsibility to know who my master is getting involved with.” Amidamaru stated nobly.

“Wow…how noble of you. So you don't trust me then?” I asked somewhat teasing, somewhat serious.

“I'm sorry, but I just can't get the thought of where you've been out of my mind. I don't want Yoh to get hurt just because I failed to protect him from one of Hao's seductive spies.” He accused.

“Then you think me seductive Amidamaru?” I winked at the spirit floating next to me. He blushed somewhat. “Have you ever been in love, Amidamaru? I have. Once, but that was months ago. He seemed so sweet and kind at first, but then I learned that he was a murdering liar. I loved him, and he used me and beat me. Now you see how I got to be like this. I don't easily trust men, but somehow…Yoh's different. I really do like him, so you don't have to worry about me breaking his heart. You really are a good friend Amidamaru, looking out for Yoh like that.” I looked away from the ghost and went back to wandering around the house.

“That's good to know. So, I guess that we could maybe be friends?” Amidamaru thought out loud.

“Yes. I suppose so. You really remind me of my own samurai; I miss her and my other spirits.” I sighed.

The ghost looked quizzically at me. “You had other spirits?”

I reminiscent look come over my face as I remembered every detail of their faces. “Yes, I had Aikido, Isabelle, and Chip. There were also some minor Jiang-sis, but yeah, I dabble in all sorts of types of Shamanism. They're my best friends, I really do want to go back for them, but I'll never get back out if I go back in.”

A knock came at the door, and since I was the only person in the house awake I went to answer it. “I wonder who could be here this early in the morning? What is it, 3:33 in the morning?”

I opened the door, and to my absolute horror there stood Hao. “What the hell are you doing here!?” I said the word `you' as if it were the most foul, disgusting thing.

Before I could slam the door in his face and run for help, he stuck his foot in the door and came in, little Opacho following after him. My face must have been a sight to see, for it changed from extreme anger to terror-stricken panic.

He gazed at me lovingly as he said, “Hello Ivy.”

“OUT! GET AWAY FROM ME!! I'll scream, I swear I will! You won't take me back.” I was desperate to get away; it was then I remembered that I had Yoh's sword in my hand. And an idea formed in my head…“Amidamaru! Into the sword! Lightening-Style Halo Blade!”

Hao quickly erected a barrier and my attack was negated, but the din it caused had woken up the rest of the inhabitants of the household. “Damn, and I thought we would get to spend some quality time together, Ivy.” Hao sighed. “Oh, well. I must be going, but Opacho, do be a friend and stick around to fill her in. Don't make any mention that I was here, my angel.” And with that Hao placed a quick kiss on my cheek, and left in a wall of flames.

I stood speechless for a moment, but was brought back to reality when the others rushed down the stairs to see into the cause of the early wake up call. Amidamaru had already left Harusame and I stood there in Yoh's pajamas holding his sword pointed at Opacho. Quite a sight.

Anna glared at me, looking quite sleep deprived. “What. Is. Going. On.”

“Ummm…Well, I think I'm an insomniac. And Opacho is here for some reason. Oh, and I found Yoh's sword and his ghost just lying about the hall! He shouldn't leave them just anywhere like that; someone else might use them.” I laughed inwardly `Another mess to clean up, Ivy.'

“HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!” Yoh apparently found something about what I had said very funny. “You had me worried that Hao was attacking in the middle of the night, but it was just this little guy come to visit you? Now that's funny! HAHA!!” Yoh walked over to Opacho and kneeled down to his eye level. “Hey, little guy! Whatcha need?”

“Hehehe…” I laughed sheepishly. `He has no idea…'

“Opacho has come to give Mistress Ivy her things! She needs her things if she is to live with Master Yoh for now!” Opacho replied happily, having too much pep for 3 in the morning.

“What do you mean, Opacho? Surely Hao sent you?” I puzzled.

“I don't understand what's going on at all…” Trey scratched his head.

“You wouldn't.” Replied Ren.

We all went into the kitchen, and Opacho filled the rest of us in on the facts of life.
