Vengeance
I stood there staring as they took her body away to be prepared for burial. I felt so mad. I hadn't been that angry and full of hate since before I met Yoh. That was back when I still hated my father…This time my hatred was directed at a certain fire shaman.

`Hao Asakura…that murdering bastard. I'll get him for what he did to her.' I started walking out of the Church into the rain. I didn't care that I was getting soaked. It didn't matter. I was going home, resting up, and then in the morning I would commit my dastardly deed.

“Oh Ren…please, I beg of you, stop this foolishness!! Leave Hao alone!!”

As I exited the Church, nearly bumping into Anna who was coming back inside the Church, I noticed Yoh sitting up against the Church wall crying his broken heart out. “It's not your fault, you know.” I didn't look at him; instead I stopped just meters away and stood to the side of him.

“I know that…” He didn't look up at me. “But I can't help but think of it that way. She died because of me, and I just can't get it out of my head that it should be me that you're burying.”

“It's your brother's fault. He's the one who killed my poor innocent baby sister. He's the one who should pay. I bet he meant to kill her in the first place; he doesn't love her at all! He is insane after all, and I bet in his madness he decided to kill her and make it look like an accident! After all, all he wanted was to do her, and when he found out she was marrying you then he started plotting to kill her so that you couldn't have her! I bet that's what he did!” I was so caught up in my own delirious speech that I didn't notice Yoh getting to his feet and walking over to me.

“Ren!!! You delusional idiot!! None of that is true…”

I jumped when he set his hand on my shoulder. “I think you're the one who's imagining things, Ren. I'm pretty sure the only reason that Hao was insane was because he actually does love her. I really don't blame him.”

I looked up in disgust at the stupid grin on Yoh's face. “You really are such an idiot. That was your wife that he killed.”

Yoh looked up at the sky with a longing look in his eyes. “No. She was never really mine. She's always been his. Can't you see how they were made for each other. Just like Anna and me. True love is never easy, so it's only natural that they had some rough times. Take Anne and me for example: I had to fall in love with Ivy before I could realize that Anna was the one for me, and it's all thanks to Ivy that things got going between us.”

`Oh Yoh…Yoh, Yoh, Yoh, Yoh, Yoh…That's so sweet…I really do love you.' A sad smile graced my lips as I watched my brother and my fiancée converse.

“You are insane.” I shook him off and started walking back toward the house. I could feel him smiling at me even without turning around to face him.

I reached my destination and got a huge amount of sleep. I would need that sleep for killing Hao the next day. I got up the next morning and got into my battle uniform. I grabbed my Kwan Dao, and went downstairs for breakfast.

“Why are you in your battle outfit Ren?” Jun looked up from her cereal at me. Not many people had come down for breakfast, so only Jun, Horo Horo, Jocko, Morty, and I were present at the table.

“No reason.” I quietly sipped my milk bottle without looking up at the others present.

“You wouldn't happen to be on your way to kill Hao, would you?” Morty raised an eyebrow in my general direction.

“So what if I am?”

“Awwww…That's so sweet that you want to avenge our little Judo, but I doubt that she would want you to kill poor Hao.” Jun picked up a piece of toast and started eating.

“`Poor Hao'?! What do you mean, `poor Hao'!? He killed our sister Jun! Don't pity him!!” I glared across the table at my elder sister.

“But that's exactly why I pity him.” Jun set down her toast and picked up a cup of herbal tea. “He was so in love with her, and he accidentally killed her like that…how horrible to kill the woman you love…I really can sympathize with him though to kill someone you're in love with. I felt horribly about Grandfather killing Pailong.”

“Wait, did you just say that you love Pailong?!” I wrinkled my nose and the corner of my mouth started twitching as I realized what Jun was suggesting.

Jun turned bright red and directed her gaze toward the floor.

“Jun and Pailong sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!” I laughed good-naturedly at my sister finally falling in love. “Too bad he's dead…”

“Well, I'll be on my way now.” I quietly excused myself from the room. I picked up my battle equipment and set out on my journey to kill Hao. I followed his furyoku out of town, through the desert, and to a little oasis.

I ended up in a little grove of trees. In the center of the clearing was a crystal clear pond. It really was very pretty. There at the edge of the water sat the man I had come to kill: `Hao…' He sat dangling his feet in the water, looking thoughtfully at the clear surface. I debated whether to stab him in the back while he wasn't paying attention, but then decided that he was aware of my presence, and would probably retaliate and kill me. I decided it was better to start trash talking and then approach him.

“Sooo…I've finally found you, Asakura. I've come to kill you for what you did!” Hao stood up to face me, and smiled broadly at me.

“Hello Ren. Come to kill me, eh?” Hao continued to smile.

“Yes, I'm here to dispose of you! You killed my sister.” He looked away from me and smiled sadly up at the sky.

“I did. What of it?”

“WTF?! HE DOESN'T EVEN SOUD REMORSEFULL ABOUT IT!! What's the matter with him?! One minute he's in tears about killing me, the next he doesn't care!!” I jumped up from my seat and screeched.

“Sit down and watch. Everything will be revealed in time.” Gabriel pulled me back into my seat and glared at me.

“How do you two live with him, and his spooky mystery man act?” I looked at the other two angels. They only smiled and shrugged.

“`What of it' he says!” I whipped out my Kwan Dao and held it to his throat. “You said you loved her! You wanted to marry her! You nearly killed your own brother so that you could have her!”

“She had a nice body; I wanted to screw her.”

I could feel hot tears cascading down my face, “No…he…can't really mean it…can he?” My heart was breaking all over again.

“Aren't you going to kill me yet, Ren? Are you too scared to go through with it?” He turned to face me and smiled maniacally.

“I'm not just going to kill you, I'm going to make you suffer!” I bit back, but was too afraid to move forward. Normally I would have no problem lunging at him head first, but today was different. There was something different about him, and that something held me fast where I stood.

“What are you waiting for? Kill me! It's not like you don't have a reason to. I mean, think of all the things I've done to your sister.” His face took on the most suggestive, perverted grin I have ever seen as if he was reliving all those moments fondling and inappropriately touching my Judo. He sat back down with his back to me and started to list all the things he had done. “Fist of all I tricked her into becoming my fiancée, think of all the times I've made out with her against her will practically forcing my tongue down her throat, God that was fun. I can still remember the way she cried when I finally forced myself on her. Virgins are always the best, Lenny, take my word for it. She was so scared and confused. And I was there to take advantage of her in that confusion. It was so much fun that I decided to do her again the next night. Yes Ren, I've had her more than once. Didn't she tell her favorite older brother how many times I've rapped her?”

“HE NEVER—!!! He's lying…He's lying on purpose…It's like he wants Ren to kill him…HAO!! NOO!!”

Even as I heard him admit what he had done I couldn't move toward him. I was so overrun by anger, yet I couldn't move.

“What's the matter Ren? Won't you kill me? I, who defiled your `innocent baby sister'? No? What kind of a brother are you? Must I give you all the juicy details of how I made her scream and cry my name over and over again in a mix of pure horror and bliss? I made her crazy with ecstasy, did you know that?”

“God you pervert; you can stop now! It's not like you actually did anything to me in the first place, so stop daydreaming sick thoughts about me!”

“Don't use the name of the Lord in vain.” Gabe glared yet again at me.

“Are you sure you're not one of the X-LAWS in disguise?” I glared back at him.

“I swear I will make you pay!!”

“Well, hurry up and do something about it. In the mean time: you may remember your sister Judo being quite the innocent girl, but Ivy is a whore.”

“Hey!! Watch it Hao!!!”

“My whore to be exact. Did you ever wonder what made her that way? Well I'll tell you: it was me. I did it. Did you know you can become addicted to sex? That's what happened to her. She just got so dependant on having a man with her that that's what she turned into. Especially after she lost the baby..”

“BABY?! HAO! Don't you dare bait him like that with that bunch of lies!! OH, don't make me come down there!!”

“BABY?!” My mind froze as I tried to understand.

“Yes, an unfortunate side effect of our numerous late night rendezvous'. She was reluctant to give up the child, but I changed her mind quick enough.” `Come on and take the bait! I can't keep making up random lies off the top of my head for much longer…KILL ME!!' “That was what happened the first time, the second time she insisted on keeping the thing. It's a shame that someone drugged her and forced her to miscarry. The third time she was so scared that she didn't even tell me that she was pregnant!”

“This is getting waaaaaay out of hand…Raphael? Is there any way that I can send a messenger down there?”

“Well we already have a messenger down there to intervene, but he doesn't speak human…I suppose it wouldn't hurt to let Judo speak to them, but they would have to be unconscious…”

“You lying bastard!” I lunged at him and prepared to slice him in half while his back was to me.

“HAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 221;

All of the sudden out of nowhere something bit my arm. Razor sharp fangs sank into my flesh, and made me drop my weapon before I could kill Hao. “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!” I screeched in pain as I tried to remove the little Jack Russell Terrier from my arm. Its little puppy teeth were causing a lot of damage as it clenched its fangs around my right arm, drawing blood.

“Stop it, all of you!!” A huge lightening bolt split a tree next to both boys and the little doggie as I yelled for peace even if they couldn't hear me.

The dog let go of my arm when the lightening hit, and he scurried over to snuggle up against Hao in fear. Hao looked down at the miserable creature in confusion. “Hello there…we meet again. I suppose this is pay back for your free meal this morning?” He smiled slightly as he whispered to the puppy.

Hao set the puppy down out of the way and started to approach me, yelling, “Yes, I am a lying bastard!! I've been lying this whole time!! I've never actually slept with Ivy, she's never been pregnant, and I've never rapped her! I've come close a number of times, but I always stop whenever she starts crying! I've been lying to you this whole conversation!! I love Ivy, and it's eating away at my soul that I was the one who killed her!! I've been lying to myself too, she's never been just there to sleep with: I love her! I love her so much, and I can't live without her! I've been trying to get you to kill me this whole time, now shut up and do it!!” Tears were freely flowing down his red cheeks as he knelt down in front of me and prayed that I would chop his head off.

“Hao Asakura, I hate you, but somehow…I can't bring myself to kill you. I was wrong about you…and your motives. I'm sorry for bothering you.” I turned and left, holding my arm in pain. I didn't have to turn around to look when I heard the splash of something hitting the surface of the clear lake.

I resisted the urge to go back to the clearing and save him from drowning himself. I wanted to save that bastard, but it was painfully obvious that he didn't want to be saved. `Just let him throw his life away…see if I care.' I stood and waited just outside the clearing, waiting to see if he would really go through with it. `I suppose it's my duty to inform his followers.' I set off in the direction of Hao's campsite, not hearing the noticeably smaller splash a few seconds later.
