Akuma
The screen faded to black as Hao entered his tent with the vial of poison.

“Well Ivy, that's it. It's time for your funeral.” Gabriel got up out of his chair and started to make his way toward the door.

“Wait!!” I shoot out of my seat and looked frantically back and forth between the three angels.

“What about Hao?!” I gestured emphatically with my arms. They just stared at me.

“Yes? What about the demon?” Gabe muttered in a bored tone.

“`What about him'?! What's going to happen to him?! He's not really going to poison himself, is he?! Hao can't die! You're not going to just let him go through with this, are you?! We have to do something; stop him! Shouldn't your messenger person that you sent down there try to intervene?!”

Raphael walked over and tried to comfort me. “Shhh…Now, now Ivy. It's okay; don't get yourself so worked up about it. There is nothing we angels or our messenger can do to stop Hao. If he wants to take his own life, we have no say in the matter.”

“No…you're angels, damn it! You have to be able to do something!” Hot, salty tears trickled freely down my ghostly face.

“You heard the idiot, there is nothing to be done about it.” Gabriel's cruel, harsh, tone stung my ears. “That devil boy will die, and go to Hell where his soul will burn for the rest of time. He will be placed under lock and key, and will not be permitted to reincarnate again. The boy is damned for all of eternity, so my advice to you would be to cut your loses and forget about the wretch. Besides it's not like you'll ever see him again anyway.”

“Aren't I allowed to go to his trail?!” I looked pleadingly to Michael.

He refused to look me in the eye. “Ivy, the council has decided to let you into Heaven as it's newest angel. Angels and demons are not allowed to mix. If we stay on schedule, he should be thrown into Hell just about the same time that you move into Heaven. The council members have taken a liking to you, and have arranged for you to live in a little lakeside condo. You'll like it there; I've seen the place, and you'll have some great neighbors.”

“But...I…I can't. Isn't there any way that I could maybe just…talk to him for a few minutes?” Tears welled up again in my eyes as the three angels shook their heads. “But…I have to see him. He's killing himself because he wants to see me again! You have to let me see him!”

“It's already been decided, Ivy. I'm sorry.” Michael looked me in the eyes and told me firmly.

I sunk to my knees and sobbed. I felt so guilty. I couldn't go to Heaven and live in a nice lakeside condo while Hao was being tortured in Hell. My conscious wouldn't allow me a peaceful night's sleep ever again.

A faint scratching sound could be heard from the other side of the enormous white door. “Hey! Somebody, let me in!!”

“That would be Feather.” Raphael went to open the door.

“Feather is our messenger that has been watching over Hao. He is too short to open doors for himself.” Gabe informed me.

The 60-foot door slowly creaked open, and in pranced a little Jack Russell Terrier puppy. “Thank God. I thought I would never get inside. Michael, what did the Big Cheese say about getting a doggie door?”

“Sorry Feather, we're low on resources at the moment because of our latest project. We can't afford such expenses that would only benefit you.” Michael responded to the Terrier as if talking dogs were an everyday occurrence.

“Please, call me Hane. I like it better, besides, all Hane is, is `Feather' in Japanese. Oh, and what big project?” Hane jumped up onto one of the chairs and made himself at home.

“You know, the one about the future Shaman King and the future Shaman Queen?” Hane stared blankly at the head angel. Michael looked exasperated at Hane, and continued to drop hints. “Feath—er Hane, surely you know about Code Name I,SR.” Hane blinked twice, and kept staring. Michael let out a low growl, and whispered something.

The dog perked up an ear, and suddenly a look of enlightenment lit up his little doggie face. “OH!! Why didn't you just come out and say Iv—“

“—Hane!!” Michael leaped at the dog and held Hane's muzzle shut. “Let me introduce you to Ivy.”

The oldest angel picked up the puppy and gently set him down in front of me. “Hane, meet Ivy Kyôyama. Ivy, this is Hane.”

“Sorry Mike I didn't know. It's an honor to meet you, Ivy. Hao talks about you constantly; he really loves you.” Hane held out his paw for me to shake.

“Pleasure.” I took his paw and shook it, but was still unable to get over the shock of the talking dog. “You can talk…”

Hane raised an eyebrow at me. “So can you. Geez…Hao said you were smart.”

“I'm sorry it's just…I'm not use to talking dogs…”

Hane seemed to accept this answer, for he licked me on the cheek and nuzzled at my neck. “One thing Hao was right about is that you're really pretty.”

Hane pulled away from me, and trotted over to Michael. “Oh, I almost forgot.” The pup whispered something in the angel's ear, and Michael, in turn, whispered something to Raphael. Hane looked up at Raph, and stated off-handedly. “That Kanna girl says hi.” Raphael blushed and thanked the canine.

“Hane, are things in order for today? You know, for the crossing over.” Gabe looked down at the little Jack Russell.

“Yep. Everything is ready on Hao's end, and I assume you have told Ivy what's going to happen.” The others nodded. “Great, then I want to request permission to stay with Hao as his pet.”

“Hane, you can't!” Raphael exclaimed.

“But it would be cruel to leave him like that…” The pup whined. “I want to stay with my Hao-sama! Oh well…I have another message to deliver. Open the door, Gaby.” Hane slunk out of the room as Gabe glared at the dog's nickname for him.

An idea suddenly hit me out of nowhere. “M-Michael?” My voice cracked, and I'm sure that the three angels could see me shaking in fear of what I was about to do.

“Yes?” Michael smiled warmly, and urged me to continue.

“I…I want…I want you to…send me…to…H-hell.” I winced slightly at the thought of flames licking at my skin for the rest of eternity.

“What?” Michael gapped at me.

“I want to go to Hell with Hao.” My voice was steadier this time, and more resolved. Everything would be okay somehow. I wasn't afraid of my fate.

“Ivy…you don't have to do this. You can go to Heaven, and live a peaceful life. You'll have everything you could ever want, and there are plenty of men and male angels for you to date.” Gabe tried to talk me out of it.

“How can everything I want be in Heaven if the man who stole my heart is burning in Hell?” I challenged.

“Forget about Hao, and you can be truly happy in Heaven.” Gabriel tried again in vain..

“Aw let her go, `Gaby'. Hell's a nice place. I'll make sure you have fun every night there. What do you say Ivy?” I shrieked as someone pinched my butt, and pulled me backwards.

Two strong wrapped around me and pressed me close up against their master.

My three guardian angels rushed toward the intruder. Raphael shouted, “Lucifer, unhand that angel! She's off-limits to the likes of you!”

“Back off, Raph, she's mine!” a wall of fire jumped up to block the angels' path. Lucifer held me tighter to shield me from flying embers. “Will you come to Hell with me Ivy?” The man whispered pleadingly into my ear.

I looked up at him, seeing him for the first time. He wore a black long-sleeved shirt that was cut to leave his shoulders exposed; it was trimmed in red, and had the characters for akuma on the back. His pants were black at the top near the waist, but the legs themselves were red. He was only half a head taller than me, and had long mahogany brown hair pulled back into a ponytail. I felt myself getting lost in his dark chocolate brown eyes. He was beautiful. “H-Hao?”

The man smirked slightly, but shook his head. “No.” Even his voice sounded like Hao's. “But people do confuse us all the time. My name is Lucifer. Will you come with me to my kingdom? There haven't been any new women in awhile, and I'm really lonely. Be mine?” Lucifer leaned in and kissed me full on the lips.

Maybe it was because he was so much like Hao, but I gave in really easily and eagerly kissed him back.

“Oh Heavens, she's making out with the devil…Lucifer!! Hao will kill you when he finds out about this!” Gabriel threatened as he and the other two started to break through the firewall.

All of the sudden, my mouth felt as if it were on fire. Not the good sensation that I got when kissing Hao or Yoh, but an incinerating feeling. It was as if his tongue was acidic and was eating away at my mouth. I pulled away from him and grasped my throat.

“Oh, sorry. Forgot to warn you about that slight inconvenience. Don't worry, you'll get used to it.” The devil reached out for me again to pull me back to him, but I fought him off.

“I'm sorry, but I'm not going to Hell for you, I'm going for my fiancée!” I broke through the flames and held tightly to Raphael.

Lucifer only looked mildly annoyed as he sat down backwards in a random chair. He rested his chin on his crossed arms that were supported by the back of the chair. “Fine. Be that way my little butterfly. It will only be more fun when I finally get you in my net. I will have what I want, and I want you. I don't see why Hao gets to be so lucky. Michael, how about you take Hao to Heaven, and I take Ivy back to Hell with me?”

Michael gave one of his rare glares as an answer.

Lucifer only showed slight displeasure by snorting quietly. “I never liked Hao. He always takes over Hell whenever he visits every 500 years. Well Ivy-koi, I'll be seeing the two of you when you check in this evening.” He winked seductively at me as he disappeared in a column of flames.

“Ivy?” Michael set a strong hand on my shoulder.

“Hmm?”

“Would you really give up any chance to be even remotely happy ever again just to be with Hao?”

“Yes.”

A bright smile illuminated the elderly angel's face. “Why?”

“I…I love him.”

“What about Yoh?” Gabriel pressed.

“I never should have gotten involved with Yoh. I shouldn't have been so cold to Hao when he told me his real name. I…understand now that he's not a murdering psychopath anymore. I love Hao, and I need him just as much, if not, more than he needs me. Yoh has Anna. I never should have messed with that.

Raphael smiled knowingly and slipped out of the room saying only, “Well, since that matter is settled, I'll be at the funeral. Afterwards, I've got a date with a certain blue-haired woman.”

“I also have work that needs attending to; unlike some idiotic angels who entertain themselves by dating the devil's minions.” Gabriel pushed his glasses further up the bridge of his nose, and glared fondly at me one last time before exiting.

“So, when are you shipping me off to Hell?” I looked expectantly at the last remaining person in the room.

“Ivy, I have something to tell you.” Michael leaned in close to me to whisper in my ear.

My jaw dropped at his words. “YOU BASTARDS!!!!! ALL OF YOU!!! I HATE YOU ALL!! YOU KNEW!!” Warm tears cascaded down my cheeks, and Michael gathered me in his arms and held me tightly.
