Shaman King Fan Fiction ❯ Love Me Once ❯ Chapter whateverthisoneis. ( Chapter 8 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

(( I'm trying to get this done with. =x ))

Yoh sat behind the desk that was supposedly Anna's. Class had started since the bell had rang, 15 minutes ago. Her seat was empty. He looked around the class for her familiar face. `Nothing,' he thought. He was getting impatient, longing to stare at her hair and take in her scent.

Yoh.. Yoh.. Yoh? Yoh.. Yoh!

Yoh's head snapped upwards and he looked right into the eyes of the irritated young teacher who was already feeling the pains of teaching those younger and rowdier than himself.

"Wha--?"

The teacher rolled her eyes in a truly youthful fashion and placed a hand at her hip.

"Did you even hear the question?"

Gosh, why did Anna have to sit in the front?

"Uh, no ma'am."

The teacher sighed and looked up to see Manta's hand waving frantically around and round head turning a rather unappealing shade of red. "You have the answer, Manta?"

"Yes, I do. 67. 4."

The teacher blinked rapidly and consulted her teacher's workbook. "Y-yes, Manta. That's, um, correct." The adult looked at Manta strangely and nodded quickly before returning to his desk. Yoh turned to Manta, whom he didn't even realize was in this class and nodded. He leaned over towards him and snapped his finger to get his attention.

Manta rolled his eyes and tilted his head so that he was looking into Yoh's face. "Yeah?" he whispered.

"Nice save.. thanks. Uh, this is Anna's class right?"

"Yoh. This is the most advanced class in this high school. Of course, it's her class."

"Where is she?"

Manta shrugged. "I don't know. I saw her earlier, but she just left with some girl." After that, he turned his head towards the blackboard and focused on the new problem before his hand shot up once again.

Yoh sighed after Manta's subtle dismissal, obviously in favor of classwork rather than chatting.

He turned as well, to the front and glanced at the problem. He folded his hands together as he tried to assess the problem.

He waited for the answer to come to him.

"…."

His thoughts were blank. How the hell did he manage to get in this class? He wasn't dense, but he was nothing near as smart as Anna.

"Uh, teacher.."

The teacher's head swivveled toward him, delighting in the fact that maybe, just maybe Yoh would be interested in this class.

"Yoh! Yes, go on?"

"May I go to the bathroom?"

The students chuckled, and Manta hung his head, thoroughly amused. The teacher's whole demeanor slumped as he sighed.

"Sure, go on.."

The girls advanced on her, snarling. She laughed loudly, they reminded her of wolves waiting to strike prime meat.

"You girls don't seriously believe that harming me would cause Yoh to like you, now do you?"

The girls either didn't hear her or chose to ignore the extreme truth of it.

A short girl with rather chubby features spoke out, "I'd rather get you right now, anyway."

Anna's eyebrows rose so high that they were in danger of being lost in her hairline. Was this about Yoh anymore?

The girl continued to speak, "You're smart, pretty, and you've got the best looking guy in school all over you. You're even living with him, you little slut!"

"Our lives would be so much better if you just weren't here!"

"We're gonna make Yoh.. hate you!"

A hand reached out and yanked her hair. Her hand went up, grabbing the arm and pulling it hard. She twisted around, causing the owner of the arm to let out a yell of anguish at the unusual way her arm was bent.

Girls tried to snatch at her the way girls normally do, trying to land awkward punches and slaps the were off. She hadn't tried anything, herself. She didn't want to hit these girls, and sooner or later they'd just have to come to terms with the fact that she and Yoh were engaged, no matter how it happened or what. Even she wasn't completely aware of how Yoh began to start liking her. As she comtemplated this, and avoided various hits from the girls, the door suddenly burst open.

A silence passed as they took in the form of a lanky boy by the name of Yoh.

"What the hell is going on here?"

Yoh had since left the classroom and walked down the hallways looking for his missing fiancee. He did plan on going to the bathroom to skip that crazy math class, but he stopped as he heard loud screeches coming from the girl's bathroom.

He had thought he heard a familiar voice, actually several familiar voices. Some of them who belonged in his class at this moment, but he was pretty sure were said absent.

Seems not.

He pushed open the door, expecting to find some young girl bleeding, in need of help with several nice classmates, preparing to help her out.

What a blow to find out differently.

He said something, but he couldn't quite remember what. His eyes grew darker as they passed over the guilty faces to one spitting angry and confused gold goddess.

"Anna!"

The girls gradually moved out of the way, whispering apologies and beginning to sob. He rushed further into the girls bathroom and pulled Anna from the middle of the fighting scene and into his arms.

"Yoh, uh.. what are you.. doing?"

"What the hell does it look like?" he snarled. "What are you doing?"

She shrugged. "Fighting."

"For what?"

"For you."

He tensed and glared out at the girls. Most of them had their heads down as if they were ashamed, but a few of them were still huffing and some even crying.

"Yoh.." said the girl who had approached him earlier. "I've liked you for a long time, and all of a sudden this.. this.. she gets you."

"She always had me. You just never knew it," he said softly. His voice was gentle, but it had a mixture of cold unforgotten anger layering it.

"But Yoh.."

He stared at her. "What made you think hurting the one I love would make me like you?"

There was a gasp heard between all of the girls in the bathroom. Even Anna's breathing hitched.

++

Love? Did he just say.. love? This was what she was waiting for, what she was confused about. The confusion at him that escalated into a slight lie a week or so ago. She couldn't fool herself. She knew that she had caused him to be so overprotective. And, well, you couldn't say that she was feeling too bad about that.

A girl ran out the bathroom crying, but Anna hardly noticed that. They were the completely matched couple, that nobody wanted to be true. They were the fakers in the school, pretending they truly knew each other. Of course, she knew him in ways the other girls didn't, but she didn't know him in the way a fiancee truly knows her beloved.

What is his favorite color?

His favorite song?

His most treasured childhood item?

Her mind drew a blank on all of those. Still, she loved the person she did know.

"Yoh.."

Yoh's arm tightened around her. He was well aware of what he said. It was about time she knew too. She damned well should, all those hints he'd been throwing out at her. No one would take her out to the movies, out to a club except him. He had those rights, because he was her damn fiance, No other boy. Forget experimenting and trying new things while she was a teenager. She'd have just enough fun with him.

"Yoh.." she murmured again.

He looked down at her, smiling his usual smile as if nothing out of the ordinary, or the ordinary for them, had been said. She leaned forward and pressed her lips against his in a silent acceptance of his love.

And then fainted.

(( I'm sorry. I went to Chicago. And, I'm lazy. Last chapter coming soon. Please don't hate me. ><' ))
