The Choice of Hanamichi

Hanamichi was the most gorgeous of all the princes of Tokyo. He was wooed by Akira, a noble young hero, and Kaede, the illumine "god of the moon." Akira was the bolder lover, and one night he carried Hanamichi away in his chariot; but Kaede came down from the sky and stopped him, and Hanamichi had to chose between the man and the god. Kaede was more beautiful than Akira, and he felt sure that Hanamichi would marry him; but Hanamichi said, "No, Kaede! You are immortal, and will remain for ever young and happy. But Akira will grow old as I grow old. He will share my troubles and will cherish and comfort me."

So he married Akira, and they lived as happily together in their old age as they did in the flower of their youth; and they had many tall, handsome children to love and help them in the decline of their life.
