Luna: I do not own Slayers in any way,so : P!!!! And I've decided not to do one of my silly disclaimers, (this time!) because I don't feel that it fits in with the story. Anyway, this is something I wrote last year, and after reading over it decided it worked as a stand alone, rather than as part of a fanfic. So enjoy this silly little story, and I apologize for it being to short.

Overwhelming Cuteness

He had know Lina since she was a little child. A baby even. Her father had left their family after Lina was born.

Xellos frowned at that. He had killed the man shortly after he met Lina, and in his opinion the man deserved worse than that, the bastard.

Anyway, he had been following a trail of miserable emotions, which had been a rather nice lunch for him, but that's getting off track, when he came across a young red-haired girl. The little five year had looked up at him with the biggest saddest eyes he'd ever seen and asked him if he was her papa.

Compassion and love were not something well known to the ever smiling mazoku, even now, but he still didn't have the heart or the nerve to tell her he wasn't. She had hugged him, happy to meet her long lost father.

That was how he learned, at least from the child's point of view, of how she had never even seen a picture of her father and how she dearly missed him. After that Xellos would come around from time to time and she was always there to meet him.

After a while he got somewhat used to all the happy feelings that bombarded him, and came to enjoy spending time with the girl. He remembered with a proud grin, how he had taught her the first few basic spells, and unknowingly created the great Lina Inverse.

He would follow her from a distance silently directing her from harm, when she was still too young to know that things like rattlesnakes, ogres, deep water, poisonous plants, mazoku, predatory animals (i.e.- wolves, bears, cougars) and various other things were dangerous and to be avoided. He still had a few scars from those experiences, the kid got into everything, which brought up the question of- where the hell was her family during this?

But Xellos took pride in all his handiwork. She had turned out to be a fine, powerful, and useful young woman. But Lina didn't know it was him who did all those things, and had even forgotten most instances, passing them off as her imagination.

Xellos wanted to keep it that way. It would demolish his reputation, and give Filia and Zelgadiss too much information to use against him. They could have 'fruitcake' and 'namagomi', but that was it!
