"ZELGADISS! HELP ME!"

The pleading cries of Amelia reached the elf-like ears of Zelgadiss, and he turned her head sharply, his wirey hair waving about.

The scene was one of chaos; The gang had stumbled upon yet another group of bandits, and of course, they began the fight.

But they couldn't kill the leader that easily-it turned out he wanted revenge against Amelia's father Philoniel. (Who didn't?) He planned to kill Amelia, which made the group's situation even more difficult.

"Zelgadiss, please help me!!" Amelia continued to cry out. She was chained to crossing stakes, and her metal chains were lined with some sort of magic forcefield, unabling her to free herself by magic. But seeing as how she was occupied ("FIREBALL! FIREBALL! ") Zelgadiss would have to do it. Quick as a flash, he sprinted through the mobs of armed bandits and sped up towards Amelia and the leader, a tall, raven-haired, sneering man. (Rather ugly too.)

"Amelia! I'm coming!" said Zelgadiss, rather heroically (a first) and he began to pull his sword from it's sheath. But his gloved hand was smacked away by the leader, who snarled and laughed. Amelia's eyes widened in fear. "Zelgadiss! Are you alright?"

"HAHA! How dare you further anger the wrath of Vernocius!" said the man maniacally, and he raised his sword above Zelgadiss, who stood, dusting himself off. `Any last words, fool?" asked the over-confident Vernocius, sword raised high above his head.

Zelgadiss looked up angrily, and smirked. "Yeah…think fast."

Vernocius was puzzled for a split second-until Zelgadiss punched his gut, making his eyes bulge, and he doubled over in pain. Zelgadiss' smirk widened after his victory, and he faced Amelia with only a second or two before Vernocius recovered.

"You alright Amelia?" he asked Amelia nodded her head vigorously.

"Oh yes, Mister Zelgadiss! Thank you!" she said enthusiastically as Zelgadiss swung his sword at the shackles of the chains. They fell to the ground, and one hit Vernocius on the head, knocking him out. X.X

Vernocius, you see, wasn't the brightest guy in the world.

Meanwhile, only meters away, Lina and Gourry battled furiously against the oncoming warriors. Lina threw a Fireball in every direction possible.

"AAAHHH!" The screaming and shrieks continued as Lina caught most of the warriors on fire. She grinned maliciously.

"HA! No one can EVER defeat the mighty lina Inverse!" she exclaimed as she struck a blinding blow of her sword on an unfortunate bandit at her right.

On her left, Gourry struck twice as many sword slashes as Lina, and many bandits ended up armless, legless, or headless. (Ewww" exclaimed Amelia from afar.) "How-you-holding-up-Lina??" he shouted above the fiery commotion. He was whacking off limbs in between each sentence.

"Good! Gourry, we have to help Zelgadiss and Amelia!!" shouted Lina. Gourry briefly scratched his head before slamming his elbow in someone's gut.

"How Lina? There's too many-" He was once again cut off but slammed his fist into the face of a bandit.

Lina grinned evilly as she halted her attack. "Simple. Dragon Slave."

Gourry's blue eyes widened and began running towards Zelgadiss. (Also knocking bandits out of the way) "ZELGADISS! GET AMELIA OUT! WE HAVE TO ESCAPE!!!"

Lina grinned and cast the Levitation Spell soon hovering above her foes. She flew herself over to a large boulder and began to chant the spell.

"Power beyond twilight, of crimson blood that flows…"

"ZELGADISS, HURRY!!!" cried out Gourry, barreling over more guards and he and Zelgadiss whammed their sword against Amelia's chains as she looked anxiously at Lina.

"Buried in the stream of time is where you power grows…"

WHAM! Amelia's arms were free from the enchanted shackles, but Vernocius was beginning to come to. They were running out of time.

"I pledge myself to conquer all the foes who stand…"

"ACKK! C'MON!" shouted Zelgadiss, and with a final slam of both swords, Amelia was free. Weak from exhaustion, Amelia fainted, sinking into the arms of Zelgadiss, who scooped her up and lifted her from the ground. "GOURRY,WE GOTTA MOVE! C'MON!" Both men dashed out of the vicinity as Lina prepared for the final lines of the spell…they rushed into the trees as quickly as lightning and watched from afar, panting as Amelia hung limply in Zelgadiss' hold.

"Against the mighty gift bestowed in my unworthy hand…" :Lina cupped the gathering energy into her gloved hands, making her fingers illuminated,

and she held it high above her crimson red head, ready to strike.

"DRAGOOONN…..SLAVE!!"

The spell was cast-she threw the beams of light towards the hill of bandits, and the red beam hit it directly, blowing up the entire hilltop, blasting warriors everywhere.

After the initial attack was over, the smoke began the clear…the dead bandits were lying everywhere, though Lina promptly ignored. She made her way over the bodies towards the leader. He was dead as well, she noticed as she peered closely at his face.

She stood up and looked at Gourry, Amelia, and Zelgadiss and posed quickly. "VICTORY!!" She began to dance wildly around the field as Gourry ran out to meet her. Zelgadiss carried the still-limp Amelia to them and set her gently on the grass, holding her head up.

She slowly began to come around. She blinked a few times and gazed at her surroundings, and then looked up into the worried face of Zelgadiss. She smiled sweetly.

"Zelgadiss…did you save me from that awful bandit leader?"

Zelgadiss suddenly blushed as pink as the setting sun. He nodded nervously.

Amelia gasped in delight and threw her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. "Thank you so much, Mister Zelgadiss!" Zelgadiss looked extremely surprised, but more over, pleased. He helped her up and smiled.

Gourry, meanwhile, was praising Lina. "Lina, that was great! I didn't know you killed him too!" he chortled, pointing to the still Vernocius. Lina grinned smugly. "Of course I did Gourry, I'm Lina inverse after all!" Another pose followed.

"That was really brave of you, Lina. I thought we were Goners."

Lina smiled up at the blonde swordsman. That was so sweet. They had been in way worse situations before, though, but it was sweet.

"Miss Lina! Did you do that? " shouted Amelia, who was running over to them, closely followed by the ever-blushing Zelgadiss. Lina nodded, smiling big, and tapped her foot.

Amelia's deep blue eyes widened and she clapped. "Wonderful miss Lina, You and Gourry and Zelgadiss saved my life! You should be rewarded!"

Lina stopped dead in her tracks and looked at Amelia. "Reward?? Where, who what when?" she asked hurriedly, and Amelia replied ,"At my home!"

Later, back at Seyruun, Lina, Gourry, Zelgadiss and Amelia were already heading down the halls to Prince Phil's room. "He'll be so happy!" said Amelia, eyes shining, and Lina replied,"Yeah…so will I once I get areard!"

They came to a large set of doors to their right, and Amelia knocked. A muffled voice inside said, "Yes, who is it?"

Amelia shouted inside, "Daddy, it's me! Miss Lina, Mister Gourry and Mister Zelgadiss are here!" They all waited and after a second, Phil replied, "Come on in!"

Once inside, Phil got up from his seat and walked towards them, clapping his hands briefly. "Well, well, well, my lovely daughter and my three favorite people, what a surprise! What's the news this time?"

Amelia beamed. "They saved me, Daddy! Again! And Zelgadiss helped me recover!"
Zelgadiss blushed scarlet again, and Amelia beamed. Lina glanced back and forth between the both of them, wondering what in L-Sama's name they were beaming and blushing about, and pushed her way up to Phil.

"Yeah, yeah, we saved Amelia, do we get anything???" she asked inquisitively. Phil scratched his head. "Well…sure, but…"

"But WHAT?" asked Lina impatiently. Phil's face lit up.

"I have an idea!" he said. "You all have done so much for Amelia, I think she should finally be rewarded!"

Lina sweatdropped. "Yeah..that's kinda what I was leaning towards."

Phil clapped his hands. "No, I mean BIG!"

Lina's crimson eyes widened to their fullest. "Reward..big?"

Phil nodded and Gourry, Zelgadiss, and Amelia looked puzzled. "I know the perfect thing! You shall all be knighted!! You can live in the castle, or have your own castles, and you'll be in my royal court, and as rich as the Royal Family!"

Amelia's eyes widened in joy. This meant all her friends would be around her all the time…especially Zelgadiss. She blushed secretly at the thought.

Meanwhile, Lina stared straight ahead "Rich…as…you…??"

Phil nodded, happily beaming.

Lina fainted.

Gourry and Zelgadiss tried to lift her up, and splashed water on her face.

"Lina…you okay?" asked Gourry worriedly, and Lina's eyes slowly opened.

"Ok?? I'm gonna be rich!!!"
