Chapter 3: Reunion with Weird Things

So it's really Lina. Filia
thought, smiling to herself. .
She flew towards a lake which was buried in the woods and
landed, turning back into human form.
And just then a shiver went through her whole body, a feeling
of evil spreading behind her.
¡¥Hi Fi ¾ ¡¦ a familiar and rather annoying voice
greeted her. Filia screamed like hell and fell into the river, which was too
close to her feet.
¡¥lia ¡K¡K¡¦ The Trickster Priest sported a sweatdrop,
landing on the green grass.
¡¥Hey, any survivors?¡¦ Xelloss called out loud. And on the
dot, a soaked Filia emerged from the water slowly, eyes closed, trying to
control her temper, but obviously failing.
¡¥Sorry.¡¦ Xelloss apoligized sheepishly.
¡¥This is not what I expected, in seeing you, you dump
creep!¡¦ Filia screeched, her body glowing attempting to turn back into dragon
form and kick his ass off.
¡¥Ha, I wouldn¡¦t mind seeing you naked again.¡¦ Xelloss
teased, making a face.
Filia immediately stopped, putting her arms across her chest,
blushing hard.
¡¥How dare you!¡¦ Filia cried angrily, steam coming out,
clawing her hands out at him. Xelloss just stuck his tongue out at her.
¡¥Filia! Filia!¡¦ a certain voice yelled. They both looked
up and saw Lina and the others flying down, and with Gourry dropping down as
usual.
¡¥Filia!¡¦ Amelia cried, throwing her arms around the wet
priestess.
¡¥A- Amelia!¡¦ Filia choked.
¡¥Hey, why are you soaking wet?¡¦ Amelia asked, letting go.
¡¥And why are you with Xelloss?¡¦ Lina added smugly.
¡¥I ¡V it¡¦s ¡V ¡¥ Filia wet red glaring at the
trickster, who was grinning.
¡¥Oh nothing, she was just having a swimming section when I
suddenly appeared. I dunno but maybe showing off her body is her hobby.¡¦
Xelloss said, closing one eye.
¡¥Shut up trickster!¡¦ Filia screamed, then sneezed.
¡¥Well I suspect that Xelloss just might be the one
responsible for making you wet.¡¦ Zelgadiss commented, the little girl still in
his arms.
¡¥You know, sometimes you look like a couple more than
enemies.¡¦ Gourry said, scratching his head.
¡¥What? Who would want to be stuck with someone like
him/her?!¡¦ The priest and priestess said together, pointing at each other.
The others sweatdropped.
¡¥I agree with you Gourry.¡¦ Lina said.
Xelloss was still making face at Filia, while Filia was trying
to control her temper again, clutching her fists with her shoulders shaking,
glaring at him.
¡¥How is she Zelgadiss?¡¦ Amelia asked, changing the
subject.
¡¥Huh?¡¦ Who is that little girl?¡¦ Filia asked, looking
away from Xelloss.
¡¥She was attacked by that big chimera you killed.¡¦ Lina
replied.
¡¥Oh, but where was that chimera from?¡¦ Filia asked.
¡¥I guess it might be from that summit up there.¡¦ Xelloss
said, pointing up to a snow topped mountain.
¡¥Huh? Uh¡K¡K¡¦ Lina looked at the little girl who was
waking up.
¡¥Where am I?¡¦ the girl asked, Zelgadiss put her down on
the floor.
And just then, the earth started shaking vigorously, even the
trees where shaking around.
¡¥What ¡V what¡¦s happening!¡¦ Amelia screamed. The little
girl held on to Zel¡¦s neck, crying.
Then out of the blue, the sky became dark and it started
lightening, followed with thunder roaring through the forest.
¡¥What in the world is happening!¡¦ Lina yelled over the
noise.
Xelloss jerked up suddenly, then held to his staff tightenly
for support.
Filia looked up and saw the sky seeming to warp up. Her eyes
widened, then she shook her head, feeling something strange and weird through
her veins. Then suddenly everything stopped.
They were all silent for a moment, recovering from hat had
happened.
¡¥What, what in the hell happened?¡¦ Lina demanded, looking
up at the sky.
¡¥Well the only thing I now is that it¡¦s weird to have
earthquakes and thunderstorms at the same time.¡¦ Gourry said.
Lina whacked him in the head.
¡¥Please¡K..¡¦ a little voice said. They all looked at the
girl in Zel¡¦s arms. ¡¥can you take me back to Milfia?¡¦
¡¥Milfia?¡¦ Filia repeated, ¡¥is it that country near to
the mouth of the river?¡¦
¡¥I guess so.¡¦ Xelloss said, shrugging. Then the little
girl fainted again.
¡¥Is she okay?¡¦ Amelia asked worriedly.
¡¥I think we better go.¡¦ Zelgadiss said, ¡¥which was is
I?¡¦
¡¥It think we should follow the river going downwards.¡¦
Lina said, then they started heading downwards.
¡¥Hey Xelloss, you coming?¡¦ Filia asked, but there was no
response, as if the trickster was in deep thought and lost.
¡¥Hey!¡¦ Filia waved her hand sin front of his face. He
snapped open his eyes, blinking for a second.
¡¥What?¡¦ Xelloss looked at Filia.
¡¥I was saying¡K¡K¡¦ then Filia sighed, what is the matter
with you?¡¦
¡¥Did you, feel something weird just now?¡¦ Xelloss asked,
uncertainly.
¡¥No.¡¦ the priestess replied, biting her lip inside.
¡¥Then I guess your not sensible enough.¡¦ Xelloss
said,closingone eye.
¡¥WHAT did you SAY??!!¡¦ Filia screamed, running after him.

Valgarv landed softly on the grounds in front of the sanctuary
where the five light weapons were sealed.
¡¥So it¡¦s here?¡¦ Valgarv asked.

¡¥Yes¡K¡K.¡¦ Reinette replied in
his head.
¡¥What would you want me to do?¡¦ Valgarv asked, putting his
hands in his pocket.

¡¥Please, someone will try to steal the weapons for evil use,
protect them before it¡¦s too late.¡¦ Reinette said.
¡¥Remember that your body is virtual¡K¡K but your powers are not.¡¦
¡¥I understand.¡¦ Valgarv replied, narrowing his eyes. Then
he teleported inside.

Lina and the others entered the Kingdom of Milfia, a
fine place that seemed to be famous for flowers.
¡¥Oh my God, there is so much flowers here.¡¦ Amelia
exclaimed, looking around with her eyes shining.
¡¥Very busy.¡¦ Xelloss commented.
¡¥And I bet there would be lots of food.¡¦ Gourry said, his
mouth watery.
¡¥So, where do we take this little girl to?¡¦ Lina asked,
scratching her head.
Filia shrugged, looking around, ¡¥it is hard to find her
family, in this busy and packed country.¡¦ She pointed out.
¡¥Hey, what¡¦s in that basket she¡¦s holding?¡¦ Xelloss
asked, pointing to the brown hand made basket that the little girl clutched
tightly to her chest, not letting it go.
¡¥Is is something precious?¡¦ Amelia wondered out loud.
¡¥I think it¡¦s some ingredients for making medicine of some
sort.¡¦ Zelgadiss said.
Xelloss walked a little closer to the girl to take a better
look at her. ¡¥Maybe your right.¡¦
¡¥Hey! What do you think your doing with Flore in your
hands?!?!?!?¡¦ a coarse voice rang from behind the gang.
Filia looked up and saw a fat, clumsy old woman hands on her
hips, a scowl on her face, wearing a long, draggy and baggy dress, obviously
making her scary looking.
¡¥She¡¦s, your uh, daughter?¡¦ Lina asked uncertainly,
looking up and down at the woman.
¡¥Who¡¦d you think she is? A princess from the palace?¡¦
the fat lady snapped. She charged up to Zelgadiss, pushing Xelloss out of the
way in progress, snatching the little girl.
¡¥Hey, watch it!¡¦ Xelloss exclaimed, tumbling back a few
steps, practically crashing into Filia.
¡¥Flore, Flore! WAKE UP!!!!!¡¦ the lady shouted in the
little girls ears, making the others cover their ears.
¡¥Uh, Madame¡K¡K¡¦ Amelia started, but covered her ears
and shut up after another shout, added by shaking by the shoulders.
Suddenly the little girl woke up, struggling out of the
woman¡¦s grip, stumbling to the floor with a loud thud.
¡¥Are, are you okay?¡¦ Filia asked, supporting her up by the
arms.
¡¥I¡¦m ¡V I¡¦m okay.¡¦ Flore murmured. She stood up and
looked at her ¡¥mother¡¦.
¡¥Where in the world have you been?¡¦ The big woman
demanded, arms crossed around her swollen chest. The others were silent,
obviously afraid to be beaten up by that at the time furious ¡¥mother¡¦.
They were attracting quite a bit of audience.
¡¥I, uh, I¡¦m sorry mother, but I was attacked by a chimera
when I was collected the ingredients. I won¡¦t next time, I promise.¡¦ Flore
said, her eyes watery.
¡¥Well you better not next time.¡¦ The woman scolded, ¡¥we
have a lot to do in the shop and we need help.¡¦ Then she hauled Flore by the
arm roughly and dragged her back to wherever they were going.
Flore looked back at the silent gang with sad eyes, then
disappeared, turning the corner.
Then the streets suddenly became noisy again, every one going
back to whatever they were doing.
¡¥Who in the world would a mother like that be.¡¦ Gourry
exclaimed, breaking the silence of the others.
¡¥Well that certainly is a poor little child.¡¦ Filia
remarked.
¡¥I wouldn¡¦t imagine being with someone like that.¡¦ Lina
said, making a face.
¡¥I wonder who they were.¡¦ Xelloss said.
¡¥You all must be visitors to the Kingdom of Milfia.¡¦ An
old voice said. Filia and Xelloss turned around to see an old creepy looking
woman standing behind them, a crocked staff in her hands.
¡¥Do you know who they are?¡¦ Zelgadiss asked.
¡¥Everyone knows who they are, and why little Flore is
treated so badly.¡¦ The old woman said, shaking her head.
¡¥Huh?¡¦ Xelloss scratched his head.

¡¥Have a seat.¡¦ The old woman offered, leading them into an
old spooky room that was draped with heavy dark colored cloth. They seated at a
big round table where there was a large shiny crystal in the middle.
¡¥Uh,¡¦ Lina started, then scratched her head.
¡¥Please call me Grandmother Willow.¡¦ The old woman said,
smiling.
Lina smiled back. ¡¥Grandmother Willow, are you a
fortuneteller of some sort?¡¦
¡¥Well it certainly looks as if you are one.¡¦ Xelloss said.
The others nodded.
¡¥Yes I am.¡¦ Grandmother Willow replied, ¡¥I¡¦ve been a
fortuneteller for many years in this country, and a popular one too.¡¦
¡¥So that¡¦s why you know all about the things in this
Kingdom?¡¦ Filia mused.
Grandmother Willow used both her hands to lighten up the
crystal in front of her, colorful smoke coming out from it. ¡¥And what will
happen in the future.¡¦
¡¥Future?¡¦ Amelia repeated.
¡¥Grandmother Willow, can you tell us about that little girl
Flore?¡¦ Zelgadiss asked, leaning forward.
¡¥Yes, yes, of course.¡¦ Grandmother Willow said, leaning
back on the chair.
¡¥Is that her mother?¡¦ Gourry asked.
¡¥No.¡¦ Grandmother Willow replied, her eyes turning sad.
¡¥That is her stepmother.¡¦
¡¥Usually stepmothers are evil to there step children.¡¦
Amelia said with clutched teeth, her fists up. Zelgadiss sighed.
¡¥Her father is a general, working for the Royal throne of
Milfia.¡¦ Grandmother Willow started. ¡¥Her mother died when she was five
years old.¡¦
¡¥How old is she now?¡¦ Filia interrupted.
¡¥She¡¦s thirteen years old now.¡¦ The old woman replied.
¡¥After her mother died, her father, Adair soon after married another woman,
which is now her present stepmother Beulah. They had an apothecary which was and
is famous now. Her stepmother now was not too pleased with her stepchild. How
should I say?¡¦
The old lady paused, taking in a deep breath.
¡¥In these past few months, chimeras keep attacking the
countryside, for unknown reasons. The King of Milfia had ordered Adair to kill
the chimeras, protect that country and ordered his men to find out what was the
reason behind all these attacks. But every time they tried to get near to the
summit where they believed to be the chimera¡¦s hideouts, they got killed or
lost miraculously. One time Adair himself went up the summit, but got shot and
was seriously injured. The King had sent him out of the Palace afterwards,
thinking that Adair had not used any efforts in completing his duty.¡¦
¡¥So now they have no money for their living.¡¦ Xelloss
finished off.
Grandmother Willow nodded. ¡¥But if the chimera is fought
off, then the King might restore his position.¡¦
¡¥So that¡¦s why her stepmother¡¦s in such a bad mood.¡¦
Filia mused.
¡¥Well she must be,¡¦ Lina said, holding up a finger,
¡¥having to make a living and take care of a sick husband.¡¦
¡¥Grandmother Willow,¡¦ Amelia started, leaning forward,
¡¥could you foretell anything about this chimera or any of its whereabouts?¡¦
¡¥I¡¦ve tried, but no use.¡¦ Grandmother Willow looked at
the crystal, ¡¥I can¡¦t indicate anything.¡¦
¡¥It didn¡¦t attack the city yet did it.¡¦ Zelgadiss asked.
¡¥Not yet, but it will sooner or later.¡¦ The old
fortuneteller replied.
¡¥Can we do anything?¡¦ Gourry asked, looking at Lina. Lina
thought for a while, holding her chin.
¡¥You wouldn¡¦t think that we could fight off this chimera
or its race do ya?¡¦ Zelgadiss wondered out loud.
¡¥Well it is possible.¡¦ Filia said.
¡¥Yeah, you did kill one not long ago.¡¦ Xelloss said,
closing one eye. Filia pouted at the insult.
¡¥You did?¡¦ Grandmother Willow said in surprise, standing
up, startling the group.
¡¥Uh, yeah.¡¦ Amelia said uncertainly.
¡¥You all know how to cast spells and magic?¡¦ the old lady
asked.
¡¥Of course.¡¦ Zelgadiss said.
¡¥Then please,¡¦ the old lady bowed, ¡¥please help the
Kingdom of Milfia to destroy the Chimeras and restore the kingdoms peace.¡¦
The gang looked at each other, not knowing what to say.
¡¥Please Grandmother Willow, sit down first.¡¦ Amelia said
gently.
¡¥If you don¡¦t, General Adair will never be able to restore
his place and Flore would be treated worse.¡¦ Grandmother Willow pleaded.
¡¥I guess we could go check it out could we?¡¦ Gourry said,
looking at the others.
¡¥I guess it won¡¦t hurt.¡¦ Lina said finally.
¡¥Thank you very much my children.¡¦ The old lady said, then
she stared at the crystal, her eyes widening.
¡¥What is it Grandmother Willow?¡¦ Filia asked, looking at
her.
¡¥Evil¡K¡K evil lives beyond great summit,¡¦ she looked
up, ¡¥please be careful¡K¡K¡¦
