Slayers Fan Fiction ❯ The Meaning of His Kiss ❯ Prologue ( Prologue )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

AN: Well, this has been a long time coming. Lina is my absolute favorite female anime character. And Xellos, well… who wouldn't love him? This is set 2 years after everyone separated after the Dark Star thing. Gourry and Lina have been traveling together ever since, of course not mentioning their feelings.

WARNING: There will be angst, fighting, suffering, death of major character(s), and all other things blamed on Mazoku. And, most importantly…
...
What was it…?
Hang on, I know it…
Oh yeah, Gourry's stupidity. Careful, it could be contagious. ;-)

Disclaimer: I don't own Slayers, and make no profit from this story. However, the situations and extra characters are my idea. (Yes, you should feel bad for them)

The Meaning of His Kiss

Prologue - The Kiss, and other randomness

It was just after dinner in an inn that now was nearly out of food for the week. If one looked, they'd still see the last bits of smoke rising from the evil tower. A tower that until earlier that day was inhabited by a Mazoku who manipulated puppets. Two girls, one 16 and one 14 were preparing to get some sleep after a hard day's demon slaying.

“Ne, Lina, I was wondering something…” Amelia began awkwardly.

“Hmm?” Lina asked, as she pulled off her cloak.

“Why did you let Xellos get away with kissing you today? I thought you liked Gourry-san,” Amelia looked up to her friend and mentor.

Lina frowned for a moment and sighed, sitting down on her bed. “Honestly? I have no idea. I guess he just caught me by surprise. Besides, he's Xellos. I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it.” The red-haired sorceress shrugged, lying down with her hands behind her head.

“You never said anything about Gourry-san though,” Amelia pointed out, sitting down on her bedroll.

Lina rolled her eyes. “Not everything is what it seems. Just because we care about each other doesn't mean we're gonna fall head over heels in love. Honestly, I don't want to think about it with everything going on right now.”

“It's not just that. You both risked your lives for each other. You're always together, doesn't that mean something?” Amelia slipped under her blanket.

“Of course, but I've risked my life for you, and we even share a room. I'm certain we won't fall in love with each other because of that,” Lina shared a small laugh with Amelia.

“That's true, but…”

“When I'm ready, I'll confront these feelings. Right now, we have demons chasing us, and answers to find. And it certainly doesn't seem like Gourry is interested in a relationship right now, ne?” Lina closed her eyes and rolled over onto her side. “Night, Amelia.”

“Goodnight Lina-san,” Amelia said quietly watching her friend's breathing even out.

“You have never disobeyed my orders before. Don't think your new power scares me. You still belong to me, and if you are not loyal you shall be destroyed.”

“Even you are not above L-sama, mistress.”

“And you are telling me that L-sama ordered this? I highly doubt that.”

“Have I ever lied, mistress?”

“… I see your point. It is of no consequence to me. You shall obey me, or you shall die like the human dogs. What is your decision?”

“… Sore wa himitsu desu…”

“I just hope for your sake, you made the right choice.”

Years later…

“So this beanie will grant you any three wishes?” Gourry asked, holding his turkey leg in front of his mouth.

“Genie, jelly-fish brains!” Lina shouted, hitting him over the head with a bone. “And he'll grant whoever frees him any three wishes they want.”

“So… What are you gonna wish for?” Gourry questioned between bites.

“Well, money and food of course. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to see if it'll cure Zelgadis. He'll just owe me for it,” she answered, leaning back with an evil grin.

“I'm sure he'll be happy about that. You think he'll marry Amelia and become the prince of Seiryuun?” Gourry wondered, leaning back in his chair and patting his full belly.

“I hope so, even now he'd be a better looking prince…” Lina mumbled.

“You're always so hard on Prince Phil. But he's been really good to us,” Gourry pointed out.

“I know, I know. I just haven't gotten over the shock of it yet. Yes, I know, it's been almost 5 years since we met him. It'll take me at least 50 to get over the shock though,” Lina said with a grin.

“You'll never change, Lina,” he laughed.

“So how do you free a weenie?” Gourry pondered, seriously.

Lina sweatdropped, then broke a table over his head, knocking the dumb blond out. “That's genie, numbskull!”

“And... We'll figure that out when we get there!” She said as she cheerfully dragged Gourry upstairs, past the frightened looks of the other patrons of the inn.
