Chapter 3: The new power

Matrix was sitting in a chair with his feet on the desk. He had a clipboard in his hands, and he was writing a report on the last mission. He was thinking of Rose. She had been in a coma for eight years now. He had not the will to fight, but he visited her everyday. He loved her so much, and to see her was like to have his heart beating.

A month past, and Max befriended a doctor at the hospital by the name of Andrew Prower. He was Black fox, and was Rose's doctor. Max told Andrew he was going away for a few years because G.U.N. had ordered him not to see Rose again.

"Promise me, Andrew, you'll look after her." Max said to him. He nodded, and Max left the hospital. As he walked away, he heard Andrew calling his name.

"MAX, MAX, MAX, MAX, MAX, MAX," cried the fox. Max turned to him

"She's waking up!" Andrew called.

The white bat slowly woke up, seeing a 21-year-old white, red and black hedgehog. He sat on the chair next to her bed, and he had his eyes closed as if he was asleep.

Max opened his eyes to the sound of her moving around on the bed. His eyes widen. "Rose, ROSE, YOU'RE AWAKE!" He called.

She put her hands to her ears. "Who are you?" She asked.

"What? You don't remember me?" Max asked.

She looked into his red eyes, and she sees something in them. "Max, but you're… How long have I been in hospital?" Rose asked.

{Should I tell her?} Max looked at her. "You've been in a coma for eight years. I'm thirty years old."

"But you…"

"But I look like twenty-one years old," Max finished. "Remember, I don't age."

She smiled at him. "I remember. So, what is going on now?"

"G.U.N's been training me for eight years. I am one of the best agents that G.U.N. has, and the reason why is I am the best is I stay alive on missions." Rose smiled and laughed. "But the thing I really hate is to stay at the base to fill out forms."

Rose laughed more, harder at him.

A year later, and at one of the G.U.N. base…

"Paper work! Aaaahhh!" He shouted at the walls, falling back off the chair.

"What is it, Max?" called a robotic voice. Rime was peeping around the door at his son.

"Nothing, Dad," Max said, looking up at the cyber hedgehog.

The cyber hedgehog was Max's father, who had got killed trying to save his family. G.U.N. later found Rime at his home, and turned him into a cyber. His mind was put into a robot body. At first Rime found it to be hell after hearing Grey had his children, but after eighteen years, he was reunited with his family again.

Rime stood in the room with his son. Rime was thinking of what could have been. {If Max was living a normal life, he would now be thirty years old, but thanks to Grey, he's now ageless, immortal like me.} Rime looked sad at Max.

It was later found out that Ken and June, Max's siblings did not have the same non-ageing affects like Max, but their D.N.A. was only slowed.

"How's Rose?" Rime asked, cheering himself up.

"I don't know."

"I hear she's going to get married to the doctor, who was looking after her." Rime said

"Andrew?" Max looked at his dad, who just nodded. Max stood up, and walked out of the office, leaving the paper work on the desk.

Max arrived at Rose's home, and knocked on the front door. She opened the door.

"Max, it's nice to see you," Rose welcomed him in her home. "You've heard about me and Andrew, haven't you?"

"Please, Rose," Max said, "We can be together."

"I'm sorry, Max, but I can't. Every time I see you, it's like looking into a mirror of youth. You don't age, but I do."

Max looked down at the floor, and whispered. "It's Grey's fault." Max turned and walked out of Rose's home. He heard her shout, "I'm sorry."

As Max walked down the street, the words that Rose had said went to him. He stopped in the crowded street, and he looked at all the humans and Mobians walking around him. {I am different to them all,} Max thought. He held up his right hand to his face and looked at it. {I am much stronger and smarter than them. Why did Grey do this?}

Max's thoughts were controlling him. He started to float off the ground, but someone grabbed him, and pulled him into an alleyway.

"Max, are you crazy?" A voice said. Max looked at the person.

"Samuel…" Max said, and he turned to see a dark blue hedgehog about the age of seventeen. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm visiting an old friend." Samuel replied, and the two hugged. "Max, are you okay?"

Max turned his back on Samuel, and put both hands on the wall of the alley, and sighed hard. "Sam, I'm not allowed to tell this, but I don't care. I'm an agent for G.U.N. and my DNA was changed when I was only nine years old. In other words, I don't age like you."

"Wow…" It was all Samuel said. The blue hedgehog looked at Max's back, and he put his hand on Max's shoulder.

A moment later…

"That's cool with me." Samuel had a big smile on his face. "Could you say `Hi' to my future kids for me, if I have any kids."

"Oh, something tells me you will, and he or she will be the best." Max smiled, and Samuel started to laugh.

As the two walked out of the alley and down the street, Max suddenly stopped and started to look around.

"What is it, Max?" Samuel asked, and he continued to walk down the street. Max turned his head.

Everything started to go in slow motion as Max saw a truck pass him. He turned back to see Samuel walking across the road and the truck driver was half-asleep, and was not looking at the road. Samuel turned to see the truck coming at him, and he was frozen on the spot.

Max ran fast at Samuel {I'm not going to make it!} He said to himself, but somehow, he did. He hit Samuel hard to the other side of street.

"Thanks, Max! Wait, how did you get to me so fast?" Samuel asked in shock.

Max started to back away from Samuel, and he had his hands on his head, in pain. "GET OUT OF MY MIND!" Max shouted. Max fell to the ground on his knees.

Samuel looked confused at Max. "Max, I'm not in your mind." But the look on Max's face told a different story.

My mind was being tore apart, I could hear all the people around me talking and I could somehow hear their thoughts as well. It hurt so much, the pain was too much, and I passed out into the darkness.

"Max, wake up," a voice said to me. "Come on, Max, you can do it!"

I slowly opened my eyes to see Samuel and his brother Kiel, and my family. I could hear their thoughts. [Is he going to be okay? Max, come on, come on friend, son.] But one of these voices spoke louder then the others. It was a female voice, and it was not any of the ones in the room.

[Matrix, your destiny is not at an end. In eighteen years from now, you will meet some friends that will help you. Help in return.] Then the voice vanished.

"I will." I said.

"I'm sorry, Kerry, my abilities are growing and I need space." Max said to the commander.

Max said his goodbyes to the others. After he left G.U.N., Max started to use his new psychic powers. Kerry told him he would always be welcomed back. Max hid in the most unlikely of places.

For three years, Max walked around Mobius, not stopping until he found a city by the name of Station Square. Max was staying at an apartment he had rented.

He was out walking around the snowy coved streets of this new city. It was fourteen days before Christmas. Max turned away from the mean high street as he walked down the alley. He heard a female screaming, and Max ran to see who is was. He ran around the corner to the next street to see two hedgehogs. He ran up to them.

"What's the matter?" Max asked, standing about five meters away.

"My money was stolen," the female light brown hedgehog replied, and she started to cry.

"It's okay, dear," said the dark grey hedgehog, and he was holding the crying hedgehog lovingly.

Max turned, closing his eyes. In his mind, he saw the criminal running way down a wet, dark alley. "I'll get your money back, Miss." The light brown hedgehog looked up at Max, but he was gone.

The criminal had stopped running and was walking slowly down the alley. He soon stopped walking and opened the bag he stole.

"Wow, that babe had some money," the criminal said to himself. He suddenly went flying into the wall next to him.

"Picking on others is not nice!" said a voice to the criminal, and it echoed around the alley.

"Who are you?" he shouted at the walls.

"Oh, come on, like I'm going to tell you?" the voice said.

"I'll give you some of the money if you give me a brake! Come man, it's Christmas," the criminal said. The voice, which didn't reply, only gave the criminal another smash into the wall, this time much harder, knocking the criminal out.

The owner of the voice jumped down from his hiding place and picked up the bag. "Have a nice New Year in jail," said Max, who turned and vanished.

Max returned to the two hedgehogs and he gave the money back to them.

"Thank you so much! Who ever you are?" asked the dark grey hedgehog. "Would you like to come back to our home?"

Max looked at the two hedgehogs and he noticed for the first time that the light brown hedgehog was heavily pregnant. "I see you're having children. Twins, am I right?"

She looked at Max, and then back at the dark grey hedgehog in shock. "Yes, a boy and a girl. How did you know?"

"I'll tell you. I would love to come to your home, oh, and my name's Max Raven."

"I'm Nikko-aka, and this is my wife, Kyoko-wa." said the dark grey hedgehog to Max.

"Nice to meet you." Max said nicely. {So, it starts here…}

It was three days before Christmas, and it was 11:00 clock at night.

"Thank you for coming, Max." said Nikko. He was sitting in the waiting room of a hospital.

"It's okay, Nik." Max said, who was also in the room.

The two had arrived over an hour ago with Kyoko, who was in labour, and the doctors had taken her into another room.

An hour and a half past…

"Max is she okay?" Nik asked, looking at Max.

"Yes, oh, I think all three are okay." Max said, turning to the grey hedgehog and smiled.

"You mean…" Nik said, full of joy. Max nodded

Then the nurse walked out. "You can go in now, but please be quiet."

As Nik and Max walked in, Nik saw Kyoko on the hospital bed. She was so tired and asleep. Next to her were two baby beds. Max walked up to them, and looked in both of the beds. In one was a girl grey hedgehog with some black hair, and in the other bed was a brown boy hedgehog.

"Cute kids," Max said.

"What are we going to call them?" Nik asked, picking up the baby boy.

"How about Mieko-hoshi? It means bright star," Max replied. Nik looked at Max, and nodded.

Mieko-hoshi was now five years old, and a lot of time had past for him. He was gifted with great speed. Nik and Kyoko loved him, and Max was like an uncle to Mieko because Max had given him a nickname.

"Sonic, come on, kid!" Max shouted to the five-year-old brown hedgehog.

"Oh, come on, uncle!" Sonic shouted, and the two were chasing each other around the house.

"Son, dinner!" Kyo shouted

"Uncle Max, do we have to?" Mieko asked.

"Yes, I'll behind you, go on!" Max replied, and Mieko ran in the house.

"Are you leaving, Max?" Nik asked, walking up to Max.

"Yes, and tell Sonic I'm sorry," Max turned and started to walk away from the house. {I'll see you in ten years, kid.}

The largest storm that Mobius had ever seen was over Metropolis city. It was raining hard in the city, and all the people were inside at this time, but on one of the buildings was a figure who stood on the edge of a skyscraper that was over looking the city. Darken by night, the figure did not move. The image was still in the wet wind, and the figure pulled out a disc like devise. The figure's eyes narrowed on the devise.

"Soon I will have my revenge on you, Sonic Hedgehog, SOON!" And the dark figure vanished in the rain of the storm.
