Chapter 15: Blood's thinker then water

Matrix and Shadow are two life forms you do not want to mess with on a bad day. Shadow was created to be an Ultimate form of life, and Matrix was born and later changed into what he is today.

"Come on, Shadow!" Matrix called to the black hedgehog.

"Hey, Max, how come you're faster than me? Not that I'm jealous…" Shadow shouted.

Matrix stopped dead, and Shadow stopped too, and walked up to him. Matrix looked strait into Shadow's red eyes.

"Okay, I'll tell only you, Shadow, being that you're the reason I'm like this…" Matrix's voice had changed so fast, it sounded like he was going to rip Shadow's head clean off his shoulders.

"What?" Shadow asked with a surprised tone.

"Surprised? I would be in your shoes! You see, Shades, if it wasn't for Project Shadow, I WOULD BE NORMAL!!" Matrix screamed at him.

"I know, I was created!" Shadow yelled back.

Just at this time, Sonic and Knuckles were walking towards them. They had heard the two screaming and shouting at each other. They walked through bushes and into the cleaning only to see the two Ultimate life forms just about to rip each other apart. Sonic ran over to Shadow and grabbed him, and Knuckles did the same to Matrix.

"GUYS, GUYS, SHADOW, MAX!" Knuckles yelled, "Sonic what's wrong with them?"

"I don't know, Knuckles, but we have to stop them, or they could kill each other, or us!" Sonic said, trying hard to hold Shadow back.

"So, you couldn't control them," a voice said from the forest around the four in the cleaning.

"Who are you?" Knuckles shouted at the trees.

"Oh, only the one who brought life to Matrix," the voice said. "Matrix, C7."

Matrix suddenly went limp in Knuckles' arms and without warning, Knuckles was sent flying into a tree. He soon started to stand up. Shadow and Sonic watched this. Sonic watched Matrix, who stood in the center of the cleaning. Sonic saw the changes in his appearance.

"Guys, Max is being controlled by someone, look at his eyes!" Sonic called to Shadow and Knuckles.

Just then, Matrix hit Sonic with a powerful psychic wave, which sent Sonic flying out of the forest. Shadow and Knuckles watched as Matrix used his psychic powers to make him float a foot off the ground. Shadow and Knuckles saw that Matrix's eyes had turned yellow.

Shadow and Knuckles looked at each other. "RUN!" They both said in union. But the two didn't have time to.

Sonic slowly opened his eyes only to see Knuckles and Shadow unconscious, lying on the ground in a cage with him. Sonic slowly sat up and saw Matrix with his yellow eyes. He stood watching them from the ground. Looking around, Sonic saw the others: Tails, Rouge, Amy, Maria, Robotnik, Sally, Bunny, Dash, Ultrix, Violet, Amber, Gen, Zeph, Ken, and Rei in other cages next to his. They were unconscious too.

"Matrix, wake them up," said a voice from the shadows.

"Yes, master." Matrix droned. He used his psychic abilities to wake the others up.

"Hey, nice wake up." Shadow said, sitting up, and then Sonic turned and looked at him.

"Oh, that's better," said the voice again.

Rei sat up in her cage, staring in shock at Matrix. He did not move. "MAX!" she cried.

"What have you done to him?" Ken shouted.

"I have got my project back." The owner of the voice stepped out into the light.

"Professor Grey!" The group gasped.

"Yes." He walked up to Matrix and put his hand on Matrix's head. "You see, I programmed a word into his mind years ago."

"C7." Shadow said, and he turned to look at the rock still Matrix.

"But, Matrix killed you," Tails said. "We saw him do it."

"Do you really think that I would let him kill me?" Grey smirked. "That was my clone. I'm the real Grey."

"Why have you done this?" Violet asked.

"Oh, it's so nice of you, Violet, to still be alive. Matrix, bring your mother here to me."

"Yes, master." Matrix droned again.

His voice was slow and had no emotion. Matrix walked up to the cage that had his mother, and he grabbed her by the arm.

"SON, IT'S ME, your mother, please!" Violet screamed as he pulled her along.

"BROTHER, NO!" Ken screamed, and he tried to grab his mother's hand as she passed by, but he couldn't.

Violet was thrown on her feet in front of Grey by Matrix, who stood like a rock next to Grey's side.

"Now, Matrix, bring your brother, too."

All that Matrix did was walk over to his brother's cage.

Ken hit Matrix. "I'm sorry, brother."

"I'm not." Matrix droned and he punched Ken hard in the face. Ken cut his right eye, and then Matrix dragged him out next to his mother.

"Good, all we need now is your little sister, and my revenge will be complete." The way Grey spoke, it was like revenge was all he had in his mind.

"Master, my sister is here in the building," droned the emotionless Matrix

Grey turned to Violet, and he said, "Show her in."

Matrix nodded and walked out of the room.

Somewhere in the same building, Jade's team had found a way in through the air system.

"X, Lime, Spawn, I want you three to go back," said a green cyber hedgehog.

"No way, boss," said a female dog, and both of her legs were robotic.

"X, come on, this is my family." Jade said to the dog.

"That's why we're staying." Spawn said, and he was a complete robot hedgehog. She looked at him.

"Someone's coming, boss," said a half robot male rabbit.

"Who, Lime?" asked Jade.

"Me, sis."

She turned only to see a fist hit her.

Back in the main control room…

"It's so nice to have the whole family back together, isn't it Rime?" Grey asked. He turned to the robot hedgehog and smiled.

"Rime!" Violet said with tears in her eyes.

"I'm sorry." Rime said, and the two hugged.

"Matrix, I order you to kill everyone!" Grey said, and he turned slowly to Matrix. "WHAT? YOU'RE UNDER MY CONTROL!"

"Not this time." Matrix pulled out his father's old gun and threw it over to him. "Here, Dad."

"HOW?" Grey said, "Tell me how did you!"

"How? I knew about that word you programmed me with..." Matrix walked slowly over to him and then stopped.

"I told him, Grey," a voice said.

The Sonic group turned to see G.U.N. soldiers running in and grabbed Grey. Seconds later someone walked up to Matrix.

"Good work, agent," the person said, and then he walked away.

"You're an agent for GUN?" Rouge asked with total shock.

"Yes, Rouge." Matrix said as he watched the GUN soldiers take Grey away. {The nightmare is at an end.}

"Oh, and, Matrix…." The Commander said, walking back up to him. "There is someone back at the base that would like to meet Shadow, Maria, and Robotnik."

Matrix looked at the Commander. "I understand, Kerry." He nodded.

The whole group started to walk out of the building and got in one of the GUN helicopters, which was large enough for them all. The black helicopters took off, heading strait for G.U.N's main base.

Inside the helicopters…

"Okay, anyone else here an agent for G.U.N.? Come on, out with it!" Rouge shouted in a bit of anger.

"Er, Rouge, my whole family works for G.U.N., we're all agents." Matrix said to the white bat.

Rouge looked at Violet, Rime, Ken, and Jade, then back at Matrix. "Really?

"Yes, Rouge, we're GUN's secret." Violet said, looking at her family.

"That explains a lot." Shadow said.

"Hmmm," Matrix said, embarrassed.

"Sorry about the name calling." Shadow smiled.

After arriving at the base, the Commander Kerry asked all the gang to follow him, which that did.

"Wow! Sonic, look at the technology these guys have here!" Tails said as they were walking by a workshop.

"Er, Matrix, is it okay if Tails has a look around." Sonic asked.

"Can your friend wait, Sonic? This is a bit more important." The Commander Kerry said, turning to face them.

Sonic and Tails nod and continue to walk down the corridors of the base.

After walking about 12 levels underground…

"We're here." The Commander said, pointing to a door. "Matrix, he asked for you first."

"Who asked?" Robotnik asked the Commander.

"An old friend." Matrix said, walking to the door, and he turned the handle and walked in.

The room was white, like a hospital. In the room was a bed, and lying on the bed was an old man, who turned his head to look at Matrix.

"Max, is that you?" asked the old man.

"Yes, Gerald." Matrix said, walking closer to him. "Shadow and your grandkids are here."

"I know, I heard them. Max, I need to tell you something…" Gerald said, and then he told Matrix everything about Project Genesis.

"I see, thank you." Matrix looked at the floor after Gerald had told him.

"You're taking it well." Gerald said, and Matrix just looked up into his eyes.

"I think your grandkids would like to talk to you." Matrix said, walking to the door.

"Remember," It was all that Matrix heard as he left the room. Shadow, Maria, and Robotnik ran in after the Commander told them.
