Author's Notes:

For those who wonder, Siruis is pronounced Seer-US. and his armor is mostly a dull white color. Also, I will now be putting the detonation timer at the beginning of the chapters. If it sounds like I took the idea from SA2: B, its because I did. A good idea is a good idea.

Chapter 5--Nuts and Bolts

Time Until Detonation: 21 hours 10 minutes 35 seconds

A large door opened on one side of the room, revealing a small bit of what appeared to be a

machine with very rounded parts that ended in points.

Upon seeing it, Sonic worried out loud: "Oh no! It...It can't be! But how??! There's no way you

could be here!"

Suddenly, two red vertical ellipses lit up in the darkness that concealed the robot. It then spoke in

its cruel, metallic voice. "Oh, but I am here...And soon, you won't be!" The machine then stepped into the

light, and confirmed Sonic's fear. "I may have been created to imitate and intimidate you, but now, I will

simply destroy you. I am...Metal Sonic!"

Upon hearing this, Amy let out a shriek. She remembered hearing about that robot from Sonic.

"Sonic! Be Careful!" she said, obviously very worried about her idol.

"Let's get this guy!" Knuckles said.

"No. This one's mine. It's personal." Sonic said, staring down the robot.

"Very well. We'll do this one on one!" Metal Sonic stated.

Sonic leapt into the air and prepared for a homing attack. Metal did likewise. The two lunged at

each other. at the same moment. Just before impact, Metal engaged his black shield, protecting him, but

sending Sonic flying. The blue hedgehog wasn't hurt badly, though. He ran at full speed toward Metal,

who decided to brace himself for impact. However, Metal pulled the same trick again--raising his shield,

and causing Sonic to crash into it. Sonic struggled to his feet, and the two went at it again.

"He can't win like this." Shadow said. "He's fighting with blind rage. I can tell. He's still too

upset over Tails to actually fight. He'll destroy himself before that infernal robot does."

The two were now engaged in a fistfight. Sonic slugging at Metal, and Metal trying to plunge his

claws into the blue hero.

"What should we do?" Siruis asked Shadow. "Based on your experience, what's the best thing to

do now?"

"Nothing." Shadow replied coldly. "There's nothing we can do. Sonic's rage has to burn itself

out. Trying to help may send him deeper"

Metal had just back-handed Sonic, sending the roughed-up hedgehog skidding across the

ground. Metal then walked up to him. He raised one clawed hand up and prepared to strike. Amy

screamed. Metal paused for a moment, watching Sonic suffer. Metal then went for the final stab. Sonic's

body was suddenly thrust out of the way, just as Metals claws stabbed into the concrete floor.

"What?!" Metal exclaimed. Everyone else wanted to know what had happened. There was a small

crater next to where Sonic had just been. Everyone looked to see Siruis Pointing his blaster at Metal Sonic.

"Dang! I missed!" Siruis said loudly to himself.

"WHAT WAS THAT ALL ABOUT??!!" Knuckles shouted. "YOU ALMOST BLEW AWAY

SONIC!!" Knuckles paused for a moment, and added: "Wait...You were trying to kill Sonic and make it

look like the fault of that robot!!"

"No I wasn't! I was trying to shoot Metal Sonic's hand! Why would I try to kill Sonic?" Siruis

defended.

"You're trying to kill us all! Just like Tails!" Knuckles was by no means happy. "I bet you work for that crazy Professor! How else would you have that giant machine? And I'll bet that his organization

told you about us! And I also bet that you're not really Shadow! Knuckles jumped at Siruis, fists-first. He

bounced off of Siruis's Deflection shield, and came right back at him again. "Stop cowering behind that

shield, and face me!!"

Siruis shouted right back at knuckles: "Knuckles, you've gone mad! I told you! I'm not from this

dimension! I want to help you!"

Luckily for Sonic, all this commotion had distracted Metal, who took advantage of the situation by

saying: Its all right agent m-102. You can tell them the truth about how you tricked them into coming here.

They've got no way out!" Metal figured that it would be easier to let his opponents to destroy themselves.

Eggman looked over at Siruis and asked, "Is this true? Do you work for my grandfather's

corporation; the one he started before he died?"

Siruis replied: "No way! That robot's lying!......Wait a second, I get it! Metal Sonic's trying to

play mind games with us! He wants us to destroy ourselves!" Siruis then turned to Knuckles, who was

punching away at Siruis's shield. Siruis then pointed his gun directly at the red echidna. Rouge gasped,

Amy looked on in horror, and Eggman just stared. Even Metal Sonic was confused by this.

"See?! I told you he's trying to kill us all!!" Knuckles shouted.

"Yup." Siruis said coldly as he fired right into Knuckles's chest. The red echidna fell backwards,

and stopped moving.

Amy screamed with terror. Rouge and Eggman were frozen with fear. Metal Sonic thought for a

moment, and walked up to Siruis.

"Very nice." The robot spoke, without feeling. "Maybe I was right. Come with me." Metal Sonic

walked over to Sonic, who had seen the whole thing. The robot held Siruis by the shoulder, pointed at

Siruis, and said, "do you see this? Siruis here just made another kill."

Siruis laughed, pointed at Metal Sonic, and said, "Do you see this? Metal Sonic here just got

killed."

Before Metal could react, Siruis shot him squarely in the face, causing the robot to fall over. That's why

you never let your guard down." Siruis said. He then rapid-fired his blasters into Metal's head, tearing it to

pieces. He then picked up what was left of the robot, threw it into the air, and blew it up with his lasers.

Siruis went back over to Sonic, and helped him up.

"For a moment there, when you reached down to help me, I thought you were going to shoot me,

too. Just like Knuckles." Sonic said, worriedly. He then added: "So...Why'd you hafta to shoot Knuckles?

Why did he have to die?"

Siruis looked at Sonic for a moment, and said, "I shot him because it was the only way my plan

would work. But don't worry, Knuckles is fine. I shot him with a tranquilizer dart so that he'd look dead. I

figured that would cause Metal Sonic to do exactly what he did." Seeing the feeling of relief on everyone's

faces, Siruis continued: "Of course, we might want to keep him drugged for a while. I somehow doubt that

he'll appreciate being shot." This comment got a laugh from everyone.

Eggman walked up to a panel on the wall, and upon examining it, he realized that he knew how to

operate it. Some of the symbols on it were the same as the ones that had been on his Grandfather's other

creations. "Let's see...If I do this..." Eggman pressed a few keys "...then...Ah-Ha!" The door next to the

panel opened, revealing a stairwell that led downwards.

"Nice work" Rouge commented as everyone, including a very woozy echidna, walked up to the

door.

Knuckles, still half-asleep, said, "Let's...*YAWN*Let's go in.

Everyone agreed, and they went down the steps into the unknown, leaving behind, amongst other

things, chunks of metal, and two craters.
