Chapter 7--Conclusion?

Time Until Detonation: 0 hours 35 minutes 8 seconds

Wearily, Sonic opened his eyes to see Eggman and Siruis trying to wake everyone else up...or at

least...that's what he thought he saw. His vision was a little blurry. As he looked up, all he could see was

two pointed ears and part of the head they belonged to. They were a bright color; exactly which color they

were was something he couldn't figure out yet.

"Sonic, wake up!" The voice was young and almost childlike.

"Amy? Is that you?" Sonic mumbled.

"No, It's me, Tails!" the voice responded.

>I must be dreaming...It can't be Tails...< The blue hedgehog thought to himself as his senses

returned to him. He sat up, and looked at the orange figure next to him. "Tails! It is you! Where've you

been?!" Sonic asked as he embraced his best friend / semi-adopted brother.

Helping Sonic up, Tails responded, "I can't explain it now; there's not enough time. You and the

others have been out since yesterday!"

"YESTERDAY??!!" The blue hedgehog exclaimed, utterly surprised. "How much longer do we

have left?!"

Siruis answered him: "According to my helmet's mission clock, we have about half an hour."

"That's It?!" Rouge shouted.

Tails then said: "Everyone calm down, don't worry...I know where the bomb is."

Sonic looked at him and said, "You do?!"

"Yeah, and I know how we can get there fast. Come on, Eggman." Tails said as he and Eggman

both got into their walkers, which had inexplicably been placed in the room.

Sonic asked, "Wait! how'd those get down here?"

His question went unanswered as Tails and Eggman both blasted a hole in the floor. "Follow us!"

Tails yelled as he and Egggman jumped down into the hole.

Ten minutes passed before everyone else had woken up and jumped down the hole. It was a small,

dark room with a single monitor on the wall. It was displaying the countdown timer.

"According to the timer, we have about 17 minutes 'till the end of the world." Shadow said

heartlessly.

Siruis was examining a door labeled: 'DANGER: ANTI-PLANETARY EXPLOSIVES WITHIN'. He

noticed a control panel with a hand reader on it. It was marked: 'ultimate life form entry only' "Hey Sonic, I

think I found a way in!"

Sonic looked at Siruis, then at the control panel. He and Shadow walked up to it. Everyone

watched.

"Try it." was all Tails said.

Shadow took off his glove, and said, "I guess we find out for sure now." He placed his hand on

the console. It scanned him.

A computer voice said: "Project Shadow result number 2.4 detected. Primary locks disengaged.

Ultimate life form required for entry."

Sonic then removed his glove. "Well, here goes nothing." He put his hand where Shadow's had

just been. The device scanned Sonic.

The computer voice responded: "Project Shadow result number 3.0 detected. Ultimate life form

confirmed. Disengaging secondary locks...Opening door..."

The large metal door opened to reveal a very small room with a console inside. It was attached to

the bomb, which was bigger than the wall.

Well, this is it. Tails walked into the room, and started to type something into the console. "Don't

worry, I know what I'm doing." Suddenly, the locks that held the bomb in place released it. "Okay,

Knuckles, give Sonic and Shadow the chaos emeralds, so they can warp the bomb to the surface."

Sonic asked, "Tails, how'd you know wha---"

Knuckles interrupted: "Hey! The emeralds are gone!"

"What??!!" everyone else shouted in unison.

Siruis then said, "Hey guys, I'm getting a transmission from Metalporygon!...He's got a reading on

the emeralds!...What?...You're not gonna like this, but something is taking the emeralds into

space!...Huh?...Okay! Do it!"

"What was that all about?" Rouge asked.

Siruis replied: "Somehow, the emeralds are being taken into space. I've already sent Metalporygon

after them, but I'm not sure how he's gonna get 'em back here in time."

"He's only got 12 and a half minutes." Eggman said, looking at the monitor.

"I hope he can pull it off!" Amy said, worried.

"Can't you diffuse the bomb, Tails?" Shadow asked.

"No, I wish I could, but it'll explode if we try anything other than unlocking it." The fox asked,

looking down.

"We can't just wait around, we have to do something!" Sonic said. "Wait a second, I know!" He

jumped up and out of the hole.

"Sonic, what are you doing?" Amy asked.

"It's time to show you why I'm the ultimate life form!" Sonic grinned. He then vanished from sight,

leaving only a blue blur.

Meanwhile...

Metalporygon easily caught up with the ship that contained the chaos emeralds. The same voice

that had used the hologram came over his radio: "No! you will not stop me! I'm going to set up a colony on

Mars and conquer the universe!"

"Not today!" Metalporygon said. He fired a barrage of missiles at the ship, destroying it. He then

used his anti-gravity beam to transport the chaos emeralds inside his cockpit. "All right!" He said to

himself. He then flew top speed toward the entrance of the pit. It only took a few seconds to reach it. He

beamed the emeralds out, and used a beam of energy to send them straight down the hole, where they

collided with a certain blue hedgehog.

"OW!!!" Sonic exclaimed as he stood back up. He picked up the emeralds and ran back down to

the bomb, going straight through the busted door that had locked them into the room with the tube. "Good

thing I broke that door on the way up." Sonic said to himself. He arrived in the room with the bomb.

Panting, he said, "Okay...here's the emeralds..."

"Good, now let's get this bomb outta here!" Shadow said.

Rouge said, "We better hurry. There's only two minutes left!

Shadow turned to Sonic and said, "All right, Mr. ultimate life form, let's get this thing outta here."

Shadow smiled as he said this. However, there wasn't enough time for anyone to notice, because Sonic

agreed, and...

"CHAOS CONTROL!!" The group, the walkers, the bomb, everything was transported to the

surface. The trip left the bomb with about 30 seconds remaining on its timer, so Sonic and Shadow left

everyone else standing on the ground next to the hole, and took the bomb into space, knowing that as

soon as the field of chaos energy was gone, they'd be destroyed either by the bomb or the vacuum of

space. Metalporygon, with Siruis inside, flew up after them. Sonic and Shadow read the timer on the bomb

as it ticked down.

They released the bomb, and the field of chaos energy was starting to fade. They couldn't make it

back to Earth. Now Sonic would truly know what it was like to die for your planet, just like Shadow, who

was about to re-live a nightmare. Or at least they would've had Metalporygon not flown out of nowhere and

grabbed them in his hand. He placed an air-filled force field around them. Just then, the bomb went off,

Sending an incredible amount of energy off in all directions. The force of it threw Metalporygon towards

Earth...

"Metalporygon, we need to adjust our pitch so we don't wipe out humanity on impact!" Siruis

shouted. He was in the pilot's seat, trying to get Metalporygon back on track. "We're gonna come in with

as shallow of an angle as possible." Metalporygon was able to make the necessary corrections, as he

started to enter the atmosphere. He was going to enter almost head first, but laying on his back so as not to

injure Sonic or Shadow. Metalporygon was built to withstand extremes, but this was pushing it. "We're

gonna make a really, really big ditch when we land" Siruis said. "Let's try to come in over the pacific; it'll

cool us down a bit." Moving almost horizontally, Metalporygon skidded across the ocean, flash boiling

whatever water he touched, and frying a few [thousand] fish. He stopped about halfway through the

southern part of Japan, conveniently ending up where he started. Heat radiated off of him, though his

hands and arms were still fairly cool. He lifted the hand which held two hedgehogs up and over the side of

the trench he'd made, setting Sonic and Shadow down near everyone else.

"Sonic!! You're alive!" Amy shouted, running up and hugging Sonic, nearly squeezing his guts

out. "I was so worried about you!"

"I'm all right too, good to know that you care." Shadow said sarcastically.

"Did you just make a joke, Shadow?" Knuckles asked.

Everyone laughed.

"I'm serious." Shadow replied. No one heard him.

Siruis beamed down from Metalporygon, and walked over to the group. "Okay, do it." He said.

Metalporygon fired at the ground near the hole, destroying it. "Well, I just wanted to say goodbye." Siruis

said. "I must be going now."

"Wait!" Tails said. "Don't you wanna know how I got back?"

Everyone had forgotten about that. They all nodded.

"I think I can explain all this." Someone said. It was Siruis; except that...it was another Siruis; a

second one. Everyone stared at the two of them, confused. "You see, the first time we tried to stop the

bomb, we failed. I managed to make it back to Metalpo---"

"What do you mean 'the first time'? And who are you?!" Sonic interrupted.

"I was just getting to that." Siruis (#2) replied. "You see, I'm from the future. In my time, we failed

miserably at stopping the bomb. Almost everyone except me and Metalporygon died. I used

Metalporygon's time travel ability to return and change the past. I fixed the errors that caused us to fail. I

fired the shot that destroyed the console, and the one that blew Sonic out of the way. Ever wonder why the

electrical water that was in the first room never made it too the vent? You're welcome. I also destroyed the

guns that knocked you all out; but not until after you'd been shot. I had to let the computer think that it had

gotten you. Oh, and let us not forget, It was me that saved Tails. I had to get him out of there; he needed

medical help. After he was fixed up, I gave him the computer code that released the bomb; and warned him

not to try diffusing it. I also delivered the Tornado and the Egg Walker. I think that pretty much covers it."

The gang was speechless. "Ohhhh........." they all said together, still a little confused.

Siruis (#2) looked at them and said: Well, my Metalporygon and I need to get back to the future.

With that, he ran off. Moments later, they saw another Metalporygon lift off and disappear.

There was nothing but silence for a while which was eventually broken by Siruis, who said: "Well,

you sure don't see that everyday." He turned to the group and added, "Well, I should be going, too.

There's a lot of dimensions out there, and they need saving!"

"Hold on a second..." Shadow said to Siruis. "I wanted...to thank you...for saving me."

Siruis nodded. "Before I go, I just wanted to tell you that if you ever want to seem me again, just

get into a situation where you're about to die, and make sure I know about it."

No one was quite sure what to make of that comment.

"Well, goodbye!" Siruis said happily as Metalporygon beamed him aboard.

The group all shouted things like "Goodbye!" and "Thank you!" as they watched Metalporygon

lift off and fly toward the sunset. He then disappeared in a flash of light.

"Goodbye, Siruis" They all said, quietly.

Somewhere on Mars...

"I will not fail you, professor..." A computer voice said.
