(A/N: Well, here's a nice fanfic to break my writer's block! This is my first self-insertion, and I do mean that in all ways possible…

(A/N: I'm basing this in a Sonic X-y kind of universe, just to keep the story making sense)

Chapter 1: Love.Is.Sweet

((Wow, what a perfect day!

The orange sun, the blue sky, and thou.))

Sonic snuggled up close to his one true love (who he had finally broken down and confessed his love for, exactly 3 months before), the girl known as Amy Rose. Sonic had not yet gone to Jay Jewelers (A/N: PARODY ALERT) to get his amorous lover a present. He began to get up to do the task, when Amy pulled him right back down again with a smirk. "You can't leave until you've given me a kiss!" Amy said, with a slight naughtiness in her tone of voice and blush on her cheeks. Sonic happily obliged.

All eyes that weren't in the bedroom were on the television set. The TV blared some just-in scoop that there was a mysterious explosion near the old Scrap Brain laboratory. Apparently, someone (or something) had fled from the explosion, and eyewitnesses described the thing as being extremely fast, almost like Sonic. Tails replied to the television "It couldn't have been Sonic! He's right here, with us!"

"I've got to hide. `He' could find me at any moment. And I can't risk `Him' finding me.", the thing spoke, to itself and itself only. It brushed back its long "hair"-quills with one hand to reveal a scar, which looked fresh, crossing the left eye. "I can't let `Him' recover me…for I am the last hope of this world. I am Project S.H.A.D.O.W., Mk. 2!"
