Chapter 2

"There are dozens upon dozens of sentry driods outside!!! They are approcahing the ship!!" Knuckles said worridly.

"Knuckles! Get the Ion Cannon ready!!!" Sonic shouted as he hurried Knuckles along to the firing room.

"Cannon charging! Five seconds!! Four! Three! Two!! One!! FIRE!!!!!!!" Knuckles shouted as he pushed the cannon's firing button, releasing the stored energy beam.

The sound of metal exploding could be clearly heard as all the sentry droids that had been sent to attack the ship were eradicated without a scratch being done to the ship.

"Alright...all crew members, grab your most powerful weapons! We move out now!!" Sonic ordered as he opened the hatch door. 'I just hope this will be worth it...' Sonic said to himself.

As Sonic and the others went through the cave they explored earlier they smelt a strong smoky smell. Amy sneezed when some of the smoke went up her nose.

"Whatever this thing is ahead, its not going to be pretty..." Tails said to himself as him and Sonic went ahead to scout the area. What they found was something even they could have never comprehended.

"I...can't.........believe it!!! An entire empire on this planet!!!" Sonic said, astonished at the find.

"How did they manage to hide for so many years without even being discovered?!" Tails asked Sonic hoping he had an answer.

"I don't know my friend, but whatever this is it can't be here!" Sonic stated as him and Tails went furthur into the huge metropolis infront of them.

'All these buildings and robots...its...almost like I've...seen them before...' Sonic said to himself as he suddenly felt something rush into his mind.

<Flashback>

"Quick! We must put him in!! Its his only chance at surviving!"

"But we won't survive either!! There will be noone to continue the existence of our family as well as the human race!"

"I know, dear...I know...its not going to do us any good to argue about it! If we don't, then the universes only hope at redemption will be lost!"

Sonic's eyes are completely closed rom a deep sleep put on him by an oxide gas inside the stasis tank he is in.

"Goodbye, Sonic the Hedgehog...may fate smile upon you...and your friends..."

There is a sudden explosion as Sonic's mind returns to reality.

{End Flashback}

'Now that I know why those people were talking to me while in that tank...those were probably the sole survivors of the explosion...but I can't help but think there's something more to this then I'm allowing to seep in!' Sonic said to himself as him and Tails went furthur into the city.

Suddenly, Sonic saw a red light pointed in his direction, revealing it as another sentry droid, but a much larger one at that. Sonic grabbed Tails and made a break for where they had come from, but he was surrounded on all sides. Faced with nothing else to do, Sonic was prepared to fight those droids. After all, how tough could they be?

Before Sonic could find out, he felt a sharp pain in his stomach as he fell on both knees, managing to see a figure infront of him. The figure laughed evily as he pulled out some kind of device and electrocuted Sonic with over 500 volts of electricity.

"Have a nice snooze, Sonic..." the figure laughed as he ordered the droids to haul Sonic and Tails off to another location.

<Back at the ship>

"Knuckles, I'm really getting worried about them! They haven't reported in or anything for almost an hour now! They would've contacted us if they had any information!" Amy said worridly as Knuckles was pacing around the ship impatiently.

"Grrrrrrrrrrrr!! That Sonic...always going off without me...he thinks he's invincible! That fool...probably got into some sort of fight or worse...I don't know about you, Amy, but I'm gonna go find out whats going on!" Knuckles shouted as he opened the hatch door and flew off towards where Sonic and Tails had been.

"KNUCKLES!! WAIT!!!!!!!" Amy shouted at the echidna, but he was already a mere speck in the sky.

<Near the entrence to the city>

"Hmmmm...they could've gone anywhere...This isn't going to be an easy task trying to fin-?" Knuckles muttered as he suddenly saw something out of the corner of his eye. Knuckles got down a little closer and saw Sonic and Tails being strapped onto a table of some kind with a bunch of robots zapping them with frequent jolts of electricity. "No! He's been captured!! Oh, that damn hedgehog...I knew that he would do something like this!!" Knuckles said angerly as he flew back to the ship to tell Amy. 'I may be outnumbered, but I have a backup plan that I shoulda used when we started this exploration...he better have those weapons he told us about, or we're all gonna face the consequences...' Knuckles said to himself as he opened the hatch door and went inside the ship.
