Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ Gierin the Echidnat ❯ The undying promise ( Chapter 4 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Gierin was trying to take a nap but she was lonely so she went out to the living room where
Rouge was sitting in a chair.

"Gierin, why are you out here? You should be asleep."Rouge said.

"I'm lonely, I can't sleep."Gierin replied.

Rouge picked Gierin up and tried to think of something.

"If you go to sleep, I'll see if you can visit Burlow and Sarah after you wake up."Rouge said.

"Okay, but what will I do until I fall asleep?"Gierin asked.

"Would you like to hear a story?"

"What's it about?"

"A story about an old friend of mine."

"Who?"

"You wouldn't know him. His name is Shadow."

Rouge told Gierin everything she knew about Shadow. By the time Rouge finished, Gierin was
half asleep.

"I think you should go to bed now."Rouge said.

"But I'm still not *yawn* sleepy."Gierin replied.

Rouge fell silent, she began to stroke Gierin on her head. Her half opened eyes slowly closed
until she drifted off into sleep. Rouge kissed Gierin on the forehead, a smile of content crossed
Gierin's face as she leaned against her mother. Rouge took Gierin to her bedroom and placed her
in the bed, the contented smile disappeared from Gierin's face as she could no longer feel her
mother's warm body, Gierin started to look like she was having a nightmare. Rouge started to
stroke Gierin's forehead and the smile of content reappeared. Gierin always felt safe when one
of her parents(especially Rouge) were near by, she trusted them completely.



About twenty minutes later, Gierin woke up to see Rouge sitting on a chair next to the bed. She
smiled happily. Gierin crawled onto Rouge's lap.

"Mommy, can you promise me something?"Gierin asked.

"That depends. What do you want me to promise?"Rouge replied.

"Promise me that no matter what, you'll never have another baby."

"Why do you want me to promise that?"

"Because I like being the only one and if I had a brother or sister, you and daddy would probably
forget about me."

"Your father and I would never forget about you. Besides, I don't want two kids anyway. One is
hard enough."

"So, do you promise?"

"Yes, I promise."

Gierin hugged Rouge around the neck. At that moment, the front door creaked open.

" 'Sounds like your father is home."Rouge said.

Rouge walked out to the front room and saw Knuckles.

"Hi, Knux."Rouge said.

"Good afternoon, Rouge."Knuckles said, he walked over and kissed Rouge quickly on the lips.

"And how's my little girl?"Knux asked Gierin as he picked her up.

"I'm fine."Gierin replied cheerfully.

Knuckles started to tickle Gierin on the tummy, he enjoyed the sound of his daughter giggling.

"Stop it! *giggle, laugh*"Gierin said.

Knuckles stopped tickling Gierin and kissed her on the forehead. Gierin giggled some more.

"Let's get something to eat, I'm starving."Knux said.




So they got something to eat, Gierin mentioned wanting to go to Sonic's house to visit Burlow
and Sarah. After they were done, Knux called Sonic. Gierin was able to go.

"Hi, Gierin!"Burlow exclaimed when Gierin entered the house.

"Where's Sarah?"Gierin asked.

Burlow pointed to the couch. Sonic was asleep with his daughter curled up next to him.

"What happened?"Gierin asked.

"Sarah had an asthma attack last night, she's been sleeping for almost twelve hours."Burlow
replied.

"Wow!"

"It wasn't a pretty picture last night, she was coughing and hacking, I didn't know if she was
ganna make it or not."

"Is she okay now?"

"Yeah."
