Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ How she survived ❯ I want to go home ( Chapter 2 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Maria found being dead quite interesting, she could finally meet her mother in person and get to
know her but... there was something missing, Maria missed her friends and family back on earth.
"Mom, I'm ganna go for a walk."Maria said.
"Alright but be back by noon."Crystal replied.
Maria walked along the forest nearby, she enjoyed having her young twelve-year-old body again
but being dead just wasn't that much fun. What was the point of being taken from the only world
you've ever known and sealed in another when your friends couldn't be with you? What Maria
wanted was to be alive again, she'd be happy even to see her son, Thunder, again.
Maria returned from the walk and went upstairs to her room, there was nobody that she knew
well enough here to talk to. Maria had just met her mother a few days ago so that wouldn't do
any good.
"Maria, would you like something to eat?"Crystal asked from the other side of the door.
"No, I'm not hungry."Maria replied.
Crystal opened the door and saw Maria on the floor, crying.
"Maria, are you alright?"Crystal asked.
"I'm fine."Maria replied, her face buried in her hands.
"You don't sound fine to me. Tell me what's bothering you."Crystal picked up Maria and set her
on her lap. "Please tell me, Maria. I'm your mother, you can trust me."
"I- I miss my family and friends. I don't want to be dead anymore, I want to go home."
"Would you like to tell me the ones you miss?"
"Well, I miss dad, Burlow, Kurama, Cristie, Gierin, I miss all of them. I just want to go home."
Maria started to cry harder.
"Sh... it's okay, I'll try to find a way to help you."Crystal said.
"You will?"Maria asked.
"Yes, I'll try."
"Thank you, mother."
"You're welcome."
Maria fell asleep on her mother's lap like a small child would, Maria had never known her
mother so she seemed to act like a young child around her.
The next morning, Maria and Crystal went to the only person they could go to, God.
"What are you here for?"A kind sounding old man asked.
"We're here to know if you have a way to return people to the living world."Crystal replied.
"Yes, if they weren't supposed to die when they did."
"I want to know if I can return."Maria said.
"Well lets see... what is your name?"
"Maria."
"Surname, please."
"Hedgehog."
"Hmmm... Oh dear, your body was thirty-nine when you died, wasn't it?"
"Yes."
"Well, this book says that you weren't supposed to die then. If your body still existed, you'd still
have about one hundred years of life left to live."
"A hundred years?!"
"Yes but somewhere, someone screwed up. You were supposed to be rescued and your husband,
Burlow, was supposed to die that day. I'm afraid that if you gave your life for another, I cannot
trade it off. I cannot kill a man just because somebody gave their life in his place."
"But I don't want to trade his life for mine, I just want to be alive again!"
"Well, even if you were to trade places with Burlow, you wouldn't have a body to return to.
Your old body is forever ruined and it cannot be restored. If I were to put you back in your old
body then you would die again and come right back up here."
"There must be a way!"
"There is but there are a few catches."
"What?"
"I could let you return in the new body I've made you but then you'd have to wait a few years in
the area between heaven and hell for me to finish another one for you to make and during that
time, you would have no body, you'd just be an aura."
"That's it?"
"Oh and one more thing, the final catch is that if I do give you your new body now, you will lose
all memory of your friends and family as long as you're alive. I can only allow you to return with
one memory and the rest will be erased from existence for all time. Now, please pick one
memory that you wish to have."
"... I want only to remember my son, Kurama. That's all I want."
"The white one?"
"Yes."
"Very well, your body is over there. Lie down on top of it and you will become part of it."
Maria saw a body that resembled her old body but far more beautiful than the last one.
"So I just lie down on top of it?"
"Yes, the moment you leave this world, all memories in your head will be forgotten. Are you
sure you want to do this?"
"Yes."
Maria went over to Crystal.
"Thank you, mom. I'll miss you."Maria said.
"No you won't, you won't even remember me."Crystal teased.
"Well, bye. I love you."
"I love you too, Maria."
Maria walked over to her new body and lay down on it, she melted into the body and became
one with it. God lead her to a portal, Maria walked into it and found herself falling.
Just as God had said, she had no memories except the memory of her beloved son.
