Epilogue

Shadow woke up from a deep sleep, the last thing he remembered was falling to the ground near Eagle-Eye and then blacking out.

When Shadow woke up, he was in a bed clothed in white clothes.

Shadow looked around the room and saw three other beds beside him, two of those beds were occupied.

Shadow slowly got off the bed and saw who the first bed was occupied by, and saw it was Sonic.

"Whew..." Shadow felt like a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders as he then went to see who the other person was. Shadow lifted the blanket off the figure, and what Shadow saw was a truly gruesome sight: Tails had tubes in his body and half of his face was mingled.

Shadow had to turn his gaze away from the sight of Tails as he started crying.

"Tails..." Shadow placed his hand on Tail's face, crying as he saw the innocence in his young eyes, completely helpless.

Shadow had to try very hard not to lose his emotions from seeing Tails, he was Sonic's sidekick and he didn't want to see Tails die.

Michael had given his life so that Shadow could save the world, but a great price was paid for doing so.

Tikal was dead, Susan had managed to escape with Amy, but Tikal, Michael, Monic, Kyle, and Eagle-Eye city were gone.

Shadow felt that he had saved the world, yet it still felt like there was something missing...

Just then, Sonic woke up, breathing normally and his body started to function normally again.

Shadow turned around to see Sonic sitting up, staring at him, tears flowing down his eyes.

"Thank you...Shadow!!" Sonic let loose his tears as Shadow embraced Sonic in a hug, crying on Sonic's shoulder as was Sonic on Shadows.

"I-I-I-I thought...thought...you were dead!!" Shadow said through tears.

"I didn't think I would live either!!" Sonic replied.

Sonic looked at Tails, who was still out cold, and knew that everything was going to be alright with life.

"Yet...with Michael gone and Eagle-Eye a complete ruin...whats left to go back to?" Sonic asked.

"I don't know...I really don't know...What I do know is this...we have friends...and with friends together, we will rebuild our lives...I just know it.

Sonic nodded in agreement, realizing that, for him, one life ended and another began, his life, as well as Shadow's, would be different from now on. Though the road to recovery would be a grueling one, Sonic and Shadow knew that they would prevail over the challenges ahead.

<Meanwhile, far away in the sky>

Michael and Tikal watched as Shadow and Sonic were by Tails' bedside, awaiting his awakening.

"Well, Tikal, I must say that I never knew you had that power within you." Michael said.

"I lost my emotions: first you gave your life, then Kyle died, and then Monic and then Shadow and Sonic nearly died!" Tikal replied.

"Do you think they will beable to keep the world safe from any furthur evils, Michael?"

"I don't know...but I do know this: my sacrifice...it was worth it in the end...although I may not be there in the flesh, I will forever remain alive in the spirit..." Michael said.

"Amy and Sonic will take good care of Sonie and Susan and I'm glad that they would be taking care of it.

"Well, Tikal...it's great to be reunited with you again. What do you think we should do in the afterlife?" Michael asked.

"Well...I don't know!" Tikal said, surprised at the question.

"I'm sure we'll think of something, but until then, lets just enjoy eternity..." Michael said as he kissed Tikal on the lips.

Although Michael was gone from the world, he would always be remembered as a hero. From father to son, the son proved that statement correct.

Yet, with the future comes uncertainty, but with Sonic and Shadow defending against the evils that may come, the future of Knothole looks bright and clear.

"Dad...I love you...and always will!" Michael said as he noticed Tails' left hand twitch.

<Back at the hospital>

"He moved!" Sonic shouted to Shadow, who immediately called doctors.

Soon, the room was full of doctors and nurses, all were focused on Tails, who was now moving his arms freely and he opened his eyes.

"He's alive!!" Sonic started crying, embracing his buddy for all it was worth.

End Epilogue.
