Iron Heel

The History

The war for Mobius has been raging for years. Each side is desperately seeking a major victory that could lead to the overthrowing of Robotnik or the death of the rebellion. Deep with the in the confines of Knothole the Freedom Fighters our gathering for a massive assault, behind enemy lines at the palace where they may finally put an end to Robotnik's tyranny. In the palace Dr. Robotnik has created the ultimate robots. A highly skilled squad of five known as the Marauders. Captained by the insane mercenary known as Sideways. The Marauders are the deadliest machines ever invented. With the ability to learn and not just follow programming makes them far from stupid. They are incredibly tough and great fighters. The week before the assault on the palace the tail unfolds.

"Sonic are you sure this assault on the palace is wise. There are hundreds of guards. Robotnik has two entire divisions of his army protecting him. If we all don't make it and Robotnik wins, what will become of Mobius?" Tails said with a heavy amount of concern in his voice.

"Hey kid just relax and be cool. Do not think those things. I mean what happens if were successful then the war is over and we can free everyone even your parents" Sonic said with anticipation in his eyes.

"Sonic things have been to quiet lately I just feel that Robotnik is up to something. All our recent attacks have been a little to overly successful. Its not that I think that Robotnik just laid down for us, I just think something is wrong and this could be a trap" Tails said.

"Hey buddy just relax, with me and Sonic, Robotnik does not stand a chance" Knuckles said emerging from the back room.

"Yea. Rock on Knuckles!" Sonic shouted with a gleam in his eye.

Outside nothing is heard, but the rustle of the trees. The night goes forward. While the freedom fighters rest preparing for the battle that lies ahead in the next week, Tails is restless and begins to have nightmares about his parents and how they were robotized.

Deep in the forest the crunching of leaves is heard. Fiery red eyes seem to slice the night air in half. The team scours the area and then sets up camp. "Latest intelligence reports had indicated the Hedgehog had last been spotted in the woods" a cold voice sneers.

The team would wait till morning for apprehension of the hedgehog and the freedom fighters. Where ever the hedgehog was the freedom fighters were surely not far behind. While the night wound down the Marauders kept a sharp look out for any sign of the freedom fighters. They prepared to move out and do more searching keeping in contact with each other via COM links.

As the morning dawned Sonic arose and prepared for an early morning run, but before he left he decided to go and see if Tails wanted to go for a flight.

"He Tails you up for an early morning flight and run? Just like old times" Sonic asked

"That would be great. Better than sticking around here all the time!" Tails said happily.

As they raced off into the forest without a care. The sun bathing them in light. The crisp morning breeze washing away the fear of losing the battle.

"Marauder 1 to Sideways the Hedgehog and the Fox are going due west towards you" the marauder said into the COM link.

"Target acquired I got him and he's brought the fox with him. All Marauders proceed with caution. Take the Fox the alive at all cost. If the hedgehog is posing a problem to the Fox's capture kill the hedgehog" Sideways replied.

Out from the bushes a shot rang out that nailed Sonic in the left leg dropping him to the ground. Tails looks puzzled and frightened while Sonic is struggling to get up.

"Ssssonic are you okay" Tails said very frightened

"Yea man I'm ok, but where did that come from?" Sonic responded.

"I don't know" Tails said hovering around looking for the sniper.

Again another shot rings out this time the shot connects with one of Tails' tails dropping him out of the sky and he lands on the ground with a hard thud.

"This was all to easy. Marauders move in and secure the area to insure none of those accursed freedom fighters are around. Move in too capture on my command. Over and out" Sideways said into his COM link.

From out of the bushes a dark figure emerges dressed in robes and his hood is up shielding his face.

"Well if it isn't the legendary heroes of the rebellion. Sonic the hedgehog and Miles "Tails" Prower. I thought this would be something of a challenge, but all I had to do was immobilize you and this became all to easy.

"Save it and who are you. I swear when I get up" Sonic said gasping for air.

"Save it Hedgehog. Look at how helpless you are without your blazing speed. I kick you and you can't even defend yourself. Excuse my rudeness for introducing myself. My name is Sideways. I'm a mercenary working for Dr. Robotnik and my job was to capture you and the fox alive. Yes Tails I know a lot about your past. Your parents in particular.

"What do you know about my parents!" Tails cried out while nursing his wounded tail.

"More than you could ever imagine. Including their current location and health. In addition I also know a substantial about Sonic's history. Yes the orphaned hedgehog who is now the hero of the rebellion" Sideways said with a sick smile.

"Tails he's messing with our heads there is know way he can know anything about your parents they've been missing for years now. No one knows where they are" Sonic countered.

Tails stands in shock and confusion.

"Oh really hedgehog than let me open your eyes. M4 bring the guests of honor to me" Sideways said into his COM link.

After a few minutes three figures appear the first two are in chains.

"Tails let me introduce you to your long lost derobotized parents!" Sideways shouted.

Out of the shadows to old and beaten looking foxes in chains emerged. Tears fill Tails' eyes, while Sonic is on the ground staring in disbelief and agony.

"Take them alive now!" Sideways barked.

"Sonic might not be able to fight but I am!" Tails shouted

Out from the trees the other four marauders arrived and Tails went into a frenzy desperately trying to fend off capture. While Sideways quickly slipped to Tails' parents and took out a whip.

"Hold it fox. You make one more move and I'll whip your parents raw!" Sideways barked

"No you wouldn't do that!" Tails screamed in horror

"Would I?" Sideways asked.

With five cracks of the whip Tails' parents were on the ground crying in pain and agony.

"Give yourself up or I will keep it up!" Sideways commanded.

With each passing second that Tails thought the whip cracked inflicting more pain on his parents bodies.

"OKAY! You win I give up just don't hurt them anymore!" Tails cried.

"Excellent. Shackle the both of them. Fox one more thing. Never trust a mercenary. M4 electrocute his parents" Sideways said in his near insane state of mind.

While the shocks go off and Tails' parents scream in pain. Tails cries while watching his parents suffer and Sonic's mind races. In the midst of the chaos Sideways slips behind them and drugs both Sonic and Tails. The Marauders then shackle them at the hands, legs, and throat.

"We have them. We are proceeding to come back to the prison facility. Make sure we have a damp cold prison cell waiting for them" Sideways said.

Sideways began to cackle as the team left the forest with Sonic and Tails in chains and in a deep sleep.

Back at the Freedom Fighters headquarters everyone is in shock and confusion over the disappearance of Sonic and Tails.

"Where could they be? I know they wouldn't just run off without letting one of us know" Knuckles reasoned.

"Look if I know Sonic he just went out for a morning run and he probably took Tails with him" said Sally.

"I'm going to go out and have a look in the forest and see if I can't find them" Knuckles stated,

With that Knuckles dashed off into the great forest to try to find any trace of Sonic.

At the max prison facility in Robotropolis Sonic and Tails awake inside their prison cells with Sideways looking on from the outside.

"Well look who decided to wake up" Sideways said

"Do you ever shut up or will I have to do it for you?" Sonic asked.

"You can't get in with ten feet of more hedgehog. Incase you haven't noticed you have been chained to the well.

As Sonic had just realized he had been pinned to the wall by steel cuffs. His hands were cuffed to the wall at the wrist. His legs were cuffed at the ankle. He was also cuffed at the throat which restricted his breathing and locked his head in place so he couldn't turn it. Same with Tails.

"Sideways you won't get away with this. When the rest of the freedom fighters discover we are missing they'll immediately come here!" Sonic shouted.

"To late hedgehog 5 whole divisions of the robot have already been dispatched to the great forest. It is only a matter of time before your base is discovered and eliminated. Why don't you just sit back and enjoy the festivities" Sideways said while getting out his whip.

Almost immediately the marauders brought Tails' parents in for another round of whipping.

"You can't do this!" Tails screamed.

"I can and I will!" Sideways shouted.

The whip began to crack against the backs of Tails' parents.

"NOOOOOOOOO!" Tails bellowed while struggling.

Instantly after he struggled he yelped from a sharp electric sting.

"Don't struggle fox or you only put yourself in more pain. Some people find those chains especially shocking" Sideways said with a twisted laugh, while still whipping Tails' parents.

After more whipping Tails' just stared with tears watching his beloved parents be beaten by this horrid monster.

"Kid be strong he's just doing this to get in your head. He's torturing us without doing any physical torture. Will get through this. Remember I swore I would always take care of you and were fighting for freedom" Sonic said in a reassuring manner.

Back in the forest Knuckles is still searching for Sonic when notices blood all over the ground. He races back to base to inform them that Sonic may have been shot and that they could have been captured. The freedom fighters scramble to prepare to rescue Sonic when war planes over head our heard and the rumbling of robot tanks approach.

"This can't be good" Sally said.

"Everybody pick a tin can and let's dance" Knuckles said preparing to lead the charge that could decide the entire war.

From behind the trees waves of robots appear and the war rages. The freedom fighters fight back desperately, but the invasion seems endless and their hope seems lost.

"Guys we can't keep this up forever. We are far to outnumbered. Where is Sonic when we need him!" Sally screamed.

"Calm down we just got to keep fighting. If we lay down for them we are just going to get captured and then the war for freedom is really going to go south" Knuckles responded.

Things at the prison facility are no better than the battlefield. Tails' parents begin to whimper in pain and cry.

"This is it fox. Everyone thought your parents are dead and now will confirm that" Sideways said while cocking his weapon.

"You wouldn't dare!" Tails yelled in terror

"Don't you ever learn. You can't always have it your way, a fairy tale ending. The war against Robotnik is slowly dieing. Here is the first chapter in the obituary!" He bellowed.

Two loud bangs are heard and then an insane cackle. Followed by footsteps down a dark hallway. Then only the tears of a fox our heard dropping against the ground of the prison cell. The midst of war rings in the air. The fox cries to the sky. The iron heel of tyranny has fallen on the innocence of Tails' parents and will continue to drive into the ground until the hope of freedom is crushed under tyranny's iron heel.
