Night Watch

Blade rolled about on the couch of his apartment. He had fallen asleep drinking. He didn't know why but he was so damn nervous about Rouge having the child. He never was good with kids. His gruff attitude was meant for adults and such, not babies. And what if Rouge didn't want him to help after words for some reason. He couldn't take it anymore.

Blade shot up in a cold sweat. "Two months in." He grumbled. He brushed aside his hair and threw his dreads back behind him. Blade walked over to his fridge and looked for something to eat. The next morning the ashen echidna called Rouge to see how she was doing.

"I could use some company, father!" She snapped at him. Blade rolled his eyes even if she couldn't see then nodded.

"I'll be over in thirty Rouge." When Blade came over he found her in the bathroom looking in the mirror.

"This better not make me ugly." She said looking this way and that. She frowned when Blade laughed. "What?!"

"You ugly, not possible. Knowing you you'll find a way to look just as beautiful if not more beautiful in the later months." He said between laughs.

"True."

Month 4…

Blade looked at the ceiling just waiting for the phone to ring. Rouge was calling a whole lot more then usual and was taking quite the attitude with him. Blade looked at his mechanical right arm. It for some reason really caught his attention. He had lost his arm just below the elbow in an accident while saving Tails and Amy from some of Eggman's bots. The arm was made by Tails and was rather interesting. The surface was real smooth and had a golden, silverish look. All of the forearm and the back of the hand had black, vein-like trails running through it made of glass. These black glass veins glowed blue when he had the arm charged and ready to shock.

In fact the arm could run up three thousand volts of electricity out. The fingers were clawed much like his left hand but the knuckles secreted something odd. Blade could pop out of each knuckle of the right hand five inch claws capable of cutting through solid steel.

Blade was busy looking at his hand when the phone rang. "Hello."

"Hey Blade."

"Need something there Sonic?"

"Well yeah I do." Blade noted Sonic's tone was less then the Sonic happy he usually had. "It's about Amy."

"Something happen to her?" Blade asked sitting up.

"No, but she's been getting really questionable about having kids."

Blade nodded. "I see. That's rather weird. I take it she's been talking to you about it."

"Yeah. We're not even a couple or anything."

"Well here's my advice. Sit her down and have a talk. She is only what, thirteen. She shouldn't be having kids at her age."

"What if that doesn't work?" Sonic asked sounding upset.

"Calm down man. If that doesn't work then send her to me or Rouge. We'll straighten her out."

"Okay, I think it'd be best to send her to you two, I mean since you and Rouge are having a kid and all."

Blade sighed. "I know. That was by accident though."

"True. Well thanks for the help, Ugh, Which place should I send her to?"

"Rouge's." Blade then hung up.

An hour later Blade arrived and found Amy was there talking with Rouge about girl stuff. "Well look who it is." Rouge said smiling sweetly.

"Yeah, yeah. Daddy is here." He then looked at Amy. "Amy."

"Yes?" She asked.

"We need to talk with you."

"About what?"

"About you thinking about kids." Rouge said as Blade sat next to her.

"Oh." Amy replied nodding.

"Don't do it." Blade said flat out. "A girl your age has much to do with herself and you're thirteen and shouldn't be even thinking about that yet less you're thinking about that for the future."

"But what about you two?" Amy asked.

"We're having a kid because we were stupid and didn't control ourselves. What we're doing to the baby isn't even fair as we haven't dated, nor thought about it."

"That's right." Blade added. "You on the other hand are far too young and you really don't want to have a kid at your age. You haven't even begun high school."

"Okay. I'll wait."

"Thanks for listening." Rouge said smiling.

"Thanks for showing me the right way." Amy said. "I got to go. Bye."

After Amy left the two future parents looked at each other. "We really need to do something. You're right about the baby. Its birth right now is nothing but a mistake not meant to happen and I know they'll hate that."

"You're right about that, like always." Rouge said rolling her eyes. "So then daddy, what do you propose we do?"

"I would prefer you not call me daddy as that creeps me out and second I suggest that we figure a route out that'll benefit us both and the child." Blade said cracking his left hand.

Rouge then got and idea and smiled. She leaned against his side and rubbed his chest. "I'm mommy and you're daddy, so then we should be living together and sleeping in the same bed." Blade noticed were this was beginning to go.

"No sex though Rouge. I don't feel comfortable about this but fine." Blade sighed. "I guess we can try this."

"Good." Rouge then got up. "Got to go to the bathroom." Then Rouge blocked her mouth with her hand and ran for the bathroom. Blade shivered at what just happened.

"There is no way I can get use to that."

Month 7…

Sonic looked about at some magazines wondering what to get. He decided to just head for the soda isle and get his drinks. Sonic had just turned the corner when he spotted Blade. "Hey Blade!" Blade turned about and waved. Sonic noticed how tired the older echidna looked. His right eye was blood shot through. "You look like hell man."

"With all the vomiting and everything else I have to deal with I haven't been able to sleep."

"Oh yeah, that's right. You and Rogue now live together." Sonic patted him on the back. "Soon man."

Blade grabbed at his head and rested it on the handle of the shopping cart. "Don't remind me. Then the real fun begins."

"But it's a blessing to have a kid, right?"

"Shut up." Blade growled as he sluggishly pushed his cart along. "Just shut up."

9 months…

Knuckles just arrived at the hospital with Julie-Su. "So anything happen?" He asked once he and Julie-Su were sitting. Tails shook his head.

"Nothing."

"Where's Sonic?" Julie-Su asked noticing the speedy hedgehog wasn't there. "And Amy?"

"Sonic's picking Amy up and should be here soon." Tails said smiling.

Meanwhile…

"Push Miss Ochiaca, push!" The doctor commanded.

"I am!" She shrieked back. Rouge was in a lot of pain and trying to force it out. That and vent it on Blade's mechanical hand which was slowly beginning to creak from stress.

"You can do it Rouge." He said rubbing her forehead and stroking her hair. Just a little more and it'll all be over."

Rouge then forced all her strength into one last push and she was rewarded with the sound of a baby crying. Rouge fell back into the bad and breathed hard. The doctor and nurses took the baby over to a table to clean it while Blade stroked Rouge's hair and sighed out his tension. "You did it Rouge."

She hugged him tightly. "Thanks Blade for helping me."

The doctor then came over with the child. "Would mommy like to see her baby?" Rouge nodded and took the child.

"It's a boy." Rouge said smiling as she looked to Blade. The boy looked like Rouge with dreads like Blade with the blue tint. "He's as handsome as his father."

The baby opened his eyes a little. Blade smiled. "He has your beautiful aqua eyes." Blade stroked the baby's head with his left hand a little. "What should we name him?"

"Hmm." Rouge replied thinking about it. "How about Edge Kenchi Ochiaca."

Blade smiled. "Rouge. I know we had agreed the child would have your last name but I got to thinking and well…" Blade the pulled out a ring. "I know this is a weird place to do this and all but will you marry me here and now?"

Rouge came to tears. "Yes." She kissed him on the cheek. Blade looked to the doctor who nodded and then a priest was aloud in. Rouge kissed Blade again. "You are full of surprises."

"I know." A few minutes later the two were wed and then the group was aloud in to see the baby. Sonic peered in and smiled.

"Yeah it looks like you both."

"What's his name?" Amy asked.

"We decided on Edge Kenchi Ishikawa."

"That's cool." Tails said happily. "But what about your last name Rouge?"

Rouge and Blade smiled. Julie-Su got the hint. "You two are getting married?" She asked.

"Are married." Rouge corrected her. "Blade proposed to me and even had a priest on hand."

"That's so romantic." Amy said all dreamy eyed. Sonic and Knuckles looked at each other and shook their heads.

"There's no help for women Knux my man."

"No help what so ever." He replied. Knuckles then smiled to himself. `I guess this would be the perfect place to do it then.'
