Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ Project: Blitz ❯ Somethings Not Right... ( Chapter 3 )

Blitz, Sonic and Tails stood gathered round the small trinket that Tails had been working on for more than a day now. It was hooked up to a large computer which was displaying a long readout while Tails pointed to various bits of text “These are the robots technical specifications. It's all pretty generic except for a few advanced pieces of hardware.” Pressing a series of keys on the computers keyboard, Tails brought up a wireframe image of a complicated robot part on screen “This is the robots target identification unit.” Blitz nodded his head in acknowledgement while Sonic looked blankly at the screen; Tails continued nonetheless “Most robots use a simple system by which they identify their targets, given that they have a single intended target, by sound recognition or shape recognition. However, these mechanisms are not 100% reliable and can easily be fooled. This apparatus on the other hand uses a complicated DNA verification procedure to ensure that the robot acquires the correct target. It does this by way of a sensor. The sensor uses a laser to inspect potential targets at a microscopic level, and makes a digital reconstruction of the subjects DNA. This copy is then compared alongside a digital sample of the intended targets DNA, which is programmed into the machine before use, and if the two samples match, the robot assumes the scanned individual as a target.” Sonic, mouth now agape, a small drool puddle forming round his feet, showed no indication of having understood any of what Tails had said “There's a problem though. The target DNA programmed into the device is listed as `Sonic', but it attacked Blitz.” Sonic perked up, his ears twitching at the mention of his name, jarring him back to reality “So you're saying that thing was meant for me?” “Exactly, but it attacked Blitz, and I don't know why.” “Maybe we have the same DNA…” “That's not physically possible and you aren't twins. You don't even share the same parents.”
*That's a half truth, and you know it*
Blitz ignored the voice inside his head and continued listening to Tails “Of course this is an early prototype so it could easily be prone to bugs, so I'll have to do some more tests on it. I`ll call you guys when I'm done with it.” As Blitz left the room, he uttered something under his breath that neither Sonic nor Tails could make out “Stupid…urgh grr … conscience… give me advice will ya….sonofa…”
As soon as the door had clicked shut behind Blitz, Tails addressed Sonic “There's something strange about Blitz, Sonic.” “Tell me about it. That guy does weird things to bones.” “No I mean, at a biological level. There's nothing wrong with this machine Sonic, it's fully functional.” “So?” “So, it means you have identical DNA to Blitz, which is biologically impossible. You don't even look the same.” “……” “If two people have the same DNA they should look completely identical. You two aren't even the same shade of blue.” “Cut him some slack bro. He's in a bad way.” “Even so, I'm gonna see what I can find out about him.” Sonic smiled at Tails' determination “I won't stop ya.” With that he bolted from the workshop, off into the mystic ruins.
Meanwhile, on Angel Island …
Knuckles glared at the enormous green emerald as it rotated smoothly in place, atop its altar “I could've sworn that the master emerald was in danger.” Circling the emerald, he looked for any sign that someone may have been there previously, but found none “I guess I was imagining it.” Knuckles shrugged his shoulders as he reassured himself “I'll check on it later, right now I need to get some rest.” Strolling away from the Master Emerald, he couldn't help but look at it over his shoulder “Hmmm… Aww crap….” Losing his footing on a loose piece of stone, he collapsed down the flight of stairs, landing in a mangled heap at their foot. He tried to stand but collapsed from his exhaustion “Ah forget it, I'll just sleep here.”
In a similar timeframe to the aforementioned events… (kickass scene break)
As Shadow walked through Station Square, paying little attention to the pedestrians he was barging aside, a stream of thoughts plagued his mind “I can't stop thinking about that guy… man that sounds gay, even in my thoughts…” Shadow shook his head and got his thoughts back on track “And why did I want to kill him so badly? That faker and the rest of them aggravate me at times but I don't try to kill them, unless it suits me anyway, start with that echidna, big headed asshole thinks he can match the ultimate lifeform!” Following his thoughts, he suddenly struck a pose in the middle of the crowd he was forcing his way through. Everyone stared at him, their expressions ranging from confused to unimpressed to amused. Suddenly realising what he had done, Shadow returned to a normal stance “Those of you who would like to keep your eyes, get the hell away from me.” The crowd rapidly dispersed, much to Shadows pleasure, and off he continued down the street “Where was I? Oh yeah, kill people. For that matter, why couldn't I kill him, he should've been easy game. He was injured and tired, but I still couldn't bring him down. And that strike. Such power!” Becoming completely engrossed in his thoughts, Shadow failed to notice the lamppost. *KRACK* Snapping back into reality, the now infuriated Shadow brought his fist back and punched the lamppost, it's metal bending around his clenched hand, causing it to tilt over at an angle. The surrounding crowds gawked at him once more. Shadow chose to ignore them and sped off through the crowd, knocking numerous pedestrians to the floor. Smirking, he disappeared round a corner.
Me: Too tired to talk to characters.
Sonic: But…
Me: No. You're wrong. Stop talking.
P.S. Sorry about the lateness of this chapter, I typed the whole thing in one go during a storm, and our power got knocked out. I lost everything and had to start over.
