Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ Superstar ❯ Kitty Links ( Chapter 1 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters mentioned in this chapter. They all belong to either Archie Comics or SEGA. (a.k.a. The dudes with all the bling.)

This story is a weird one, alright. To enjoy this story, you have to imagine a couple of things:

1. Sonic was a great rock star, not a hero.

2. Sonic is now dead. (which is not that hard to imagine for all you Sonic haters out there...)

3. Rouge is an author, not a spy.

4. You will also have to imagine that my writing is good, and does not in fact suck monkeys.

Easy enough?

Chapter 1

Kitty Links was packed with people that night, dancing and drinking themselves to a pleasant stupor in the company of beautiful people. Rouge had wondered why Mr. Tanazuka would want to meet in a glittery place such as this but with those `Hollywood people' like him, she figured that they would flock to such a gaudy club.

`It's really nice of him to do this for me.' She thought, a smile appearing on her lips. `Most people wouldn't dare talk about everyone's beloved `Sonikku', the world's favorite rock star; known for making girls go ga-ga and boys howl with his badass clothes, speedy moves, and rocking voice. No one would have expected him to be found dead with a needle in his arm and a low priced prostitute by his side.'

Scandal. The tabloids ate it up; every one of them had the story as front page news and scandalous authors lined up to write horrific stories about his life and music, Rouge being one of them. Yet, she was different from the others; she wanted to get the real story, not just some made up fantasy that would sell more books. That was why she was here, waiting to meet with Shadow Tanazaka, Sonikku's agent and closest friend. It was an arranged meeting by Cream Menomori, Sonikku's treasured six year old daughter.

(A.N. 00 This shall be explained later!)

She smoothed the wrinkles in her skirt with her manicured fingers, awkwardly scanning the vast expanse of grinding bodies for the man she had a description of.

"A black and crimson hedgehog with crimson eyes; no one here matches that description." A sigh escaped her freshly glossed lips as she began to motion for the bartender to come so she could order a drink.

"Yes, what do you want?" a slightly snobbish voice asked. Rouge looked closely at the bartender. She was an attractive squirrel with big auburn hair pulled into a ponytail and brilliant blue eyes. The name tag on her obscenely tight white button down shirt read `Sally Acorn'.

"Well, Sally Acorn, give me the strongest drink you have."

An annoyed look came upon Sally's face.

"You have to tell me specifically what you want to drink or else I can't help you!" she snapped, glaring at Rouge.

The bat's face twisted up in anger. "Well fuck you bi--..."

"She'll have a shot of Tequila, Sal." A startlingly smooth masculine voice said quietly. Surprised and annoyed at the same time, Rouge turned away from the snobby bartender and looked to the seat to the left of her, finding a handsome hedgehog sitting there smirking at her.

"You know her?" Rouge turned back around to the squirrel, who sounded speechless as she pointed at Rouge.

"Does it matter if I do? Now, get me that drink before I get angry." His eyes narrowed to a dangerous length.

"Yes sir!" With that said, Sally turned around and grabbed for a clear bottle filled with liquid. Irked, Rouge turned back to the hedgehog and took a closer look at him.

Black fur? Check.

Crimson streaks and upturned quills? Check.

Totally handsome and suave. Triple check.

"Mr. Tanazuka?" the speechless bat whispered, a blush creeping upon her cheeks.

"Yes, that's me I'm afraid. But a lady as beautiful as you can call me Shadow." With that said, he gently picked up Rouges trembling hands and kissed them both, his lips chastely coming into contact with each one. An even thicker blush crept upon Rouge's cheeks as she noticed his clothing choice. He was wearing a black button down shirt that was almost all the way open except for two buttons that were buttoned at the bottom. He was also wearing skin-tight leather pants and black leather boots.

"Well, my name is Rouge. I really thank you for coming." She smiled nervously as Shadow lowered her now sweaty hands back onto her lap.

"Well, you're a lucky woman, Rouge. I wouldn't usually help someone I don't know on a personal level with something as touchy as this but since you're good friends with Little Miss Cream, I am more than happy to provide you with some contacts and some information. But know this, some of the people probably won't want to talk to you so don't get your hopes up." His lips pursed into a thin line as he slid her a sheet of stationary with the names and numbers of about fifty people-some known to Rouge and some not-written neatly in red pen.

"Thank you! Thank you!" the bat exclaimed happily, clasping her hands together, turquoise eyes bubbling with joy. "Is there any way I can repay you for this?"

"Well", Shadow murmured, his voice deep and sultry. "You can allow me to pay for your drink."

"Um, sure." She smiled and turned around to the bar table, finding the tiny shot glass there. With an even bigger smile she picked up the glass, turning it up and pouring the small amount of liquid into her mouth. It was acid-like, worst than anything that she had ever tasted! Yeah, it was that good...

"Enjoyed it?" he asked, smirking.

"Yeah, I sure did." She puckered her lips and shook her head vigorously, setting the glass back on the table. "Damn, that was good!"

A chuckle from the hedgehog.

"Glad you enjoyed it."

Shadow began to dig into his pants pocket, (which seemed impossible, considering the tightness of them.) producing a one hundred dollar bill and a business card. He slid it towards Rouge and stood up, smiling at her.

"Have fun, beautiful. Call me sometime, maybe we can go out on a date sometime." With that said, he winked at her and turned around, quickly maneuvering his way through the dense crowd of people and out the door.

"My payment?" Rouge turned back around towards the bar, noticing the bartender holding out her hand.

Rouge smirked. "Here," she said, placing the hundred into Sally's waiting hand.

"Keep the change, maybe you can buy yourself a new attitude." The bat then stood up, ignoring Sally's glare and colorful use of language, and like the hedgehog before her, started to push her way through the dancing bodies. Once went through the door and was outside she examined the card Shadow gave her in the moonlight. It was his business card. On it was his name and cell phone number. A smirk graced her lips as she took the cell phone out of her small purse and dialed the number, putting the phone up to her ear. Within two rings Shadow picked up on the other line.

"Hello Rouge. You surely didn't keep me waiting long, eh?"

Rouge's smirk grew bigger. "No, I surely didn't. Now, about that date..."

--------------------------------------------------

00 Now that was weird... I really don't like the ending (or any of it for that matter). I really like how I handled Shadow, even though he is totally OOC I like how smooth and cool he is. Rouge is horribly OOC and I hate how I portrayed her. Sally, on the other hand, she's just a bitch, enough said...
