Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ The Emerald's Child ❯ Turmoil in Space ( Chapter 6 )
_UsagiGirl_: Thanks for all of your support through this fic! It's the last real chapter! Just a quick ending after this, so enjoy!
"Are you guys coming or what?" Hiromasa's smooth voice soothed Midori's nerves. She just then realized how tense everything was making her, and how wonderful and secure Hiromasa made her feel to be around. They walked down the hall and Mikage and Hiromasa showed Midori into a large room with a twin bed, a dresser, and a desk with a chair. Everything in the room was made of sleek, smooth steal, with the exception of the plain white mattress on the bed.
"Well, this is uh, cozy," Mikage said, trying to sound hopeful. "If you need us, our room is right across the hall." Mikage gestured towards an iron door on the other side of the hallway. "We'll be unpacking." Mikage grabbed Hiromasa's and walked out of the room, closing the door behind her.
Midori laid her suitcase on the bed and opened it up. She took out her clothes and put them in the dresser, then found some incense and lit it on her desk. She then took out some red floral sheets and pillow and put them on the bed. She also found some family photos. She put one from when she was about six and put it on the desk. She then found a college picture of her father's. It had all of his old buddies: Rouge, Miles(now happily married to each other), Tikal, Knuckles himself, a black and red hedgehog that Midori knew now was Mikage, Sonic himself, and…someone whose only visible part was a white glove on Mikage's shoulder, for the rest was burned off. Midori wondered if that glove belonged to Hiromasa. Author: Please restrain from expelling your anger at her stupidity. I mean, give her a break, Miles burned Knuckles's first house down, and it got burned (conveniently) off, so she never knew he existed.
Midori looked at a picture of her mother and father and a tear came to her eye. It was knocked off her face though, when a large explosion on the other side of the colony shook the whole room. Midori ran out of her room and found Hiromasa and Mikage already in the hallway. Mikage rushed over to Midori. "Are you okay Midori? Did anything hit you or anything?"
"No, I'm fine Mikage," Midori assured her. "Are you guys okay?"
"Oh, of course," Mikage said tapping her nose. "We've been through much tougher stuff than this, ya know! Like that traveling salesman selling that Tupperware! I mean, it was a miracle, but HE just doesn't get wonderful things like that! And another thing-"
Midori looked around Mikage to see Hiromasa's reaction, but found he wasn't there. "Uh, where'd your husband go Mikage?" Midori asked.
Mikage's face turned white. She spun around to where Hiromasa used to be. "Oh no! You stay here Midori. I have to go get him before he does anything brash!" Mikage ran off and Midori got frustrated with being left behind. She waited for about 30 seconds when another explosion hit the colony.
"That's it, I'm taking off!" Midori rushed down the way Mikage had left and worked her way through the maze of hallways. When she heard shouting, she stopped and listened around a corner.
"Tell me where the child is now!" Midori recognized that voice. It was the same man who had come to the camping site.
"N-never, you-," Midori heard Hiromasa spit and saw him fling against the wall next to her and fall to the ground. She dragged him to safety in the hall she was in. Tears streamed from her eyes as she saw the scorches in his robe. She pulled back his robe and saw the angelic face of a black and red hedgehog with a few burns on his face. Beads of water dangled at the corners of his closed eyes. Midori began to sob at the sight of his inanimate face. She heard from the hallway Mikage's shout and saw an intense light come from the hallway. Midori heard Mikage scream once more as more lights filtered through the corridors.
Midori pressed her head to Hiromasa's chest and heard no heartbeat. Suddenly, she felt a power pulse through her body. A light grew and grew until it was blinding. It then abruptly disappeared except for directly around Midori. She saw Hiromasa's chest rise slightly, but he was still unconscious. She then stepped out into the hallway involuntarily and saw Mikage unconscious on the floor.
"Ah, there you are my dear," the ugly man laughed. "What the-"
Midori's eyes were completely green and an emerald fire blazed around her. She was no longer controlling what she did at all as a rumbling shook everything around her. Fire shot off of her in every direction and filled the hallways. Dr. Eggman was blasted out of the colony and into the moon, which still bore his face. Midori then passed out cold on the floor.
