Rouge's Epilogue

After FinalHazard was defeated

There was a bright flash of the strange Chaos Control, and then we were safe, away from the Earth. I was relieved; we were alive! But Shadow, he had tried so hard to keep every single one of us alive. The door suddenly opened, and there was Sonic. I was confused. "Where is Shadow?" I asked, getting a sinking feeling. He looked down and shook his head. Sonic walked over and gave me one of the rings that Shadow always wore around his wrists. So he had succeeded in keeping all of us alive - but one. Himself. "Do you really think, that Shadow was created to take revenge on all the humans who live on Earth?" I asked Sonic. He simply replied, "He was what he was. A brave and noble hedgehog who gave his life to save the planet." I nodded.

When we got back to Earth, I worked on my report for the president. Looking at the ring, I managed to type.

I NOW CONCLUDE THIS REPORT ON THE ULTIMATE LIFE-FORM, PROJECT SHADOW… rest easy, hero.

I sat there in my chair and sighed. For a long while, I was thinking. I remember when he saved me, before the island exploded, with Chaos Control. He had claimed to do it for the Emeralds, but still. Did Project Shadow really have the heart to save me, or was he really just rescuing the Emeralds? I guess I'll never know.

The next day, I handed the report in for the reward: 15 beautifully cut jewels. But after the events that happened, they didn't look all that beautiful. I led the life I usually led, a master thief, an agent, etc. But one day, I received an invitation from the one person I really wasn't expecting.
