Chapter Six: The Other Team

The Tornado came closer, and then landed. Sonic began death-glaring at Tails. "Heh, sorry about disappearing like that, Sonic," he said, catching the glares.

"What were you thinking?!" Sonic yelled. "You could have at least told us!"

"Well, I would, but then I wouldn't have had enough time to reach the plane in enough time and then get back! When Onichao attacked, the guards around the warehouse with the Tornado vanished. But they were back once Onichao left."

"Well, at least you didn't get caught," Sonic mumbled. He turned to us. "Alright, get ready to go!"

Tails jumped back into the Tornado and switched it back into it's normal mode. He hit a few more switches and a mechanical arm shot out and grabbed me, picking me up and setting me on the back of the plane. "Hey, isn't this Sonic's spot?" I asked.

"Usually," he said. "Hey, could I have that emerald back?"

"Sure," I said, rematerializing the emerald and tossing it down to him.

"Thanks."

The others got in, excluding Sonic, and Tails started the plane. "Alright, Sonic, everything's ready," Tails said.

"Alright, let's go!"

The Tornado began to roll along the gound, picking up speed. A minute later, we were flying into the air. "Hey, what about Sonic?!" I yelled, barely able to hear myself. I was answered by a bright flash, and a second later Super Sonic was flying next to the Tornado. "Oh."

We flew for an hour, and nothing bothered us. As we flew over a forest, we noticed a black cloud of...something in the distance.

"Hang on, guys!" Sonic yelled. "Things are about to get a little rough!"

As we flew closer, the cloud formed into a mob of robots that looked like a lion, but with the head and talons of an eagle. Gryphons. They began to fly in our direction, and Espio jumped onto the wings of the plane. "Get ready!"

As soon as they were close enough, Espio began throwing his shurikens like a madman. I charged up some fire, and threw the spheres at the winged robots, but they had simingly little effect on them. Sonic flew around, ramming through them when he found the opportunity. But things weren't going so well. They gryphons outnumbered us ten to one. And my fire wasn't working on them. Two more went to divebomb us, and as soon as one of them was close enough, I leapt from the plane and landed on the back of one. I charged up some fire energy around my fist, slamming it through the robot's back. It screamed a high pitched shriek and began to lose altitiude. I leapt from it's back as the Tronado flew back around to pick me up.

"Nice job, Zane," Knuckles commented.

Another gryphon flew past, slamming into me and knocking me off of the plane. I began to fall, and I realized that Tails wouldn't be able to fly back and catch me. The ground began to come close to me, and I thought that I was gonna die. "Shit!" I said, slamming into a tree. I hit nearly every branch on my way down, before finally collapsing on the ground.

"I think he fell somewhere over here," a voice said, coming closer.

"Hey, there he is!" exclaimed another. "Let's get him back to camp."

I lost consciousness shortly after that.

/Dream World/

I stood up and looked around. I was undoubtedly dreaming again, but this world wasn't nearly as weird as the last one. "Can't I have any normal dreams?" I wondered. I looked around, taking in the scenery. It was a clearing in some woods, surrounded by abnormally tall trees. "Where am I?" The clearing was filled with flowers, and a single tree in the center. I went to the edge of the area, sitting down against a tree. "Might as well wait, things will show up when they decide to."

After a little wait, an energy surge flooded the field. "What the hell?" I said, standing up.

A portal opened near the tree, and two figures walked out. One of them was a female, and the other was Roland. They walked to the tree, the female rubbing the trunk of the tree. "This seems like an excellent source of Soul Energy, don't you think, Roland?"

"Sure does. Now we'll have almost enough energy to revive Chaos!"

"As long as those stupid Elemental Warriors don't interfere," the female said.

"Don't worry, we have seven of them trapped. Only one remains. And there's still one who hasn't been awakened."

"That hasn't stopped them before," she stated.

"Seven of them haven't been trapped before."

"Well, time to summon the Spirit Fountain."

/Sonic's World/

I woke up, my eyes snapping open. I sat up, but groaned in pain and quickly layed back down. I was in some type of hut, and I was in extreme amounts of pain. I looked down and saw my left arm sitting delicately in a sling. "Great, my arm's broken," I said sarcastically.

"Oh, are you awake, mister?" a voice said. A small head peeked in through a door on the other side of the room. "Oh, good! We didn't know if you'd be alright."

"Where am I, Cream?" I asked.

"How do you know my name?"

"I know just about everything about this world," I answered truthfully. "But where am I?"

"You're in a resistance camp in the forest," another voice said. Amy walked in. "How do you feel?"

"Like I fell off a plane and through a tree," I said.

"Good!" she said. "You feel exactly like you should."

"Do you have to be so cheerful?" I asked.

"Yep. So, how was my Sonikku doing?" she asked.

"He's doing fi...hey, isn't he here?"

"No, after you fell off, they retreated. The thing that sucks is that those gryphons were sent to find us."

"So we fought your battle? And lost?!"

"Yea."

We fell into an awkward silence. It was soon interrupted by my stomach, which rumbled like I hadn't eaten in days. "Hehehe."

"I'll be right back," Cream said, rolling her eyes and walking out of the room. She re-entered a moment later with a tray of food.

I didn't really care what was on the plate, and I guess it showed, because I started shoving food into my mouth. I don't even think I chewed, but I was so glad to have food that I didn't really care.

[Yawn. Good morning, Tim,] Zane said.

[No it's not,] I replied. [I am in extreme amounts of pain. I fell off the freaking Tornado!!]

[Stop crying, you baby.]

[Hey, how much faster do you heal compared to normal humans?]

[Three to four times,] Zane said.

I finished eating, and Cream took the tray to get cleaned. "So, you escaped from Eggman too, huh?" I asked.

Amy nodded. "Yea, but with Shadow's help, of course."

"Is he here?"

"No. He helped all of the refugees at this base escape Eggman, but he got captured."

"Hmm..."

"What?" Amy asked.

"It's just that when I first came to Station Square, Sonic and Shadow saved me, Knux, and Tails from Metal Sonic."

"Was it a fake?"

"No. Omochao took his form, abilities, everything. Then he let it slip that he knew about one of my enemies that I hadn't mentioned to him. And that's as much detail that I'm gonna go into on that story."

A young bee floated into the room. "Hey, the meeting's gonna start soon. Hurry up, Amy!"

"Alright, alright," she said. She turned to me. "Are you coming?"

"Uh-huh," I said, forcing myself to stand. I was finally able to stand, and I followed Amy. I stumbled a few times, nearly collapsing each time. Amy led me to a tent, and inside were the Vector, Charmy, Big, Cream, and Rouge. We walked in and took a seat between Rouge and Charmy.

"Hey, who's he?!" Vector demanded.

"He's a warrior here to help us against Eggman," Cream answered.

I nodded in agreement. "Yep."

"So, do you know anything about the situation at hand?" Vector asked, staring at me.

"Yea, you guys are a bunch of refugees on the run from Eggman. Meanwhile, Sonic thinks that you guys are still captured and is trying his best to get in there to bust you guys out."

"So he really does care about us," Vector muttered.

"Hey, what's that supposed to mean?!" Amy yelled. "You knew that Sonikku was trying to save us!"

"She's right. He escaped with a fake Shadow, which was really Omochao in disguise. Knuckles and Tails escaped shortly after that."

"Well, then, let's try to get hold of Sonic and the others," Vector said. "We can't do this without them. Then, let's try to find every possible way into Eggman's base."

"You make that sound so easy," Vector said. "When, in reality, we'll get fried if we go anywhere near the place."

The others began to talk to each other about the obvious fact that Vector pointed out. I decided to speek up. "First, we need to know if Sonic will even be able to get to us. Then, once he's here we'll worry about the problem."

"I agree," Vector said.

{Tim!!}

"What the?!" I said aloud.

{Tim, it's Fin. You need to get back to your own world, NOW!}

{Why?!}

{Your mother is going berserk at the fact that you didn't go home last night!}

'Dammit!' I thought. {Fine, send me home.} And to the others: "Well, I gotta go. See ya when I see ya." I waved at them, and the teleportation beam pulled me back into my own world, a block away from my house.

/Real World/

'Okay,' I thought. 'How am I supposed to explain my injuries to my mom?' I walked toward the house, trying my best to come up with a halfway decent excuse.
