A/N: Hi everyone! How is everyone doing? Well, here is the next chapter to The Stage is Set. This is the first of three parts, each dealing with the rescue of Shadow. The first and second parts take place at the exact same time, but this chapter follows Zane, Keenan, and the other power formation people. The next chapter follows the runners and the fliers. And the third part has the first true debut of Shadow the Hedgehog.

All right, enough of me rambling. Hmm...I guess I'll put a disclaimer in here first.

Disclaimer: The author of this story does not own Sonic the Hedgehog or any related characters or trademarks. He also does not own Keenan the Hedgehog, he is owned by one of his friends, Celestial the Hedgird. @ MM.Org, she is known as The Celestial Hedgird (I think). Warning to the general public: This chapter might get a little goofy, but please bear with me. I thought it wasn't funny enough, so I did the first thing I could think of. Tell me what you guys think in the reviews

The Stage is Set Chapter 11: The Return of the Ultimate Life Form part I

Shortly after two hours, Jinn regained consciousness. "Ahh...What happened? I feel like my head was pounded on by a rabid monkey..."

Walking up to him, I asked him, "Hey, are you all right?"

"Other than the pounding headache, yeah, I'm peachy."

"Good. We're moving out, guys!"

"Hey, I thought I was the leader," Sonic said. "But you are right, we need to end this once and for all."

"Can I get something for this headache?" Jinn asked.

"Sure, just wait a sec," Amy said, walking out of the room.

"So, Zane, are you sure you wanna go through with this?" Sonic asked. "There's only five of you guys. You might get overwhelmed."

"No worries, Sonic," I said. "Do you know what happens when you blast a robot with a fireball?"

"Err...no, what?"

"The same thing that happens to everything else!"

"Dude, that line sucks!" Sonic said. "What'd you do, get that line off of some internet comic?"

"Yeah," I confessed. "Yeah, I did."

"Here, you go, Jinn," Amy said, walking back into the room. She handed him a glass of water and a few pills. "These should help."

"Thanks," he said. He popped the pills into his mouth, and then guzzled down the water. "All right, I'm ready."

"Okay, then, let's go, guys!" Sonic said.

The others nodded and split up into two different groups, the runners and fliers over with Sonic, and the fighters over with me.

"Oh, wait," Tails said. He quickly ran over to Keenan and held out the fake emerald. "Here ya go, Keenan."

"Thanks," he said, absorbing the emerald into his body.

Tails then walked over to me and held out his hand. In it was a shard form his fake emerald. "Thanks, "I said, taking it and inserting it into my arm.

Tails then walks back over with his group.

"All right, now are we all set to go?" Sonic asked. He recieved nods from his group. "All right then, guys, hang on." He took out one of the Chaos Emeralds. "Well, see you guys on the other side. Chaos Control!" Him and his team warped out of the room.

"Alrighty then, guys," Knuckles said. "Let's get a move on. We need to cause a lot of trouble for Eggman."

"Causing trouble?" I asked, grinning. "There's something that I'm good at doing."

"I'll go ahead," Keenan said. "Chaos Fissure!" He then warped out of the room.

I walked over to Big, Knux, and Vector. "All right, hold on." Focusing on the emerald shard I had in my arm, I began the warp. "Chaos Control!"

//Outside Eggman's Fortress//

I exited the warp and collapsed on the ground. "I do not reccomend doing that with a shard," I said.

"Good thing to know," Vector said. He looked up at the looming fortress in front of us. "So, how do we get in?"

"I dunno," Knux said. "What do you think, Zane?"

Still out of breath, I answered, "I dunno. Why don't we try knocking?"

"Are you stupid?" Vector asked. "Why would anyone answer that door if someone knocked?"

"Just leave it to me, you guys hide," I said, standing up. I had begun to slowly get some of my energy back, but I wouldn't be able to overwork myself. As soon as the others were hidden from view, I walked up to the door and pounded on it a few times.

The door opened slightly, and a robot poked its head out. "What do you want?" it asked.

"I have a delivery for a Dr. Ivo Eggman," I said. "It is a matter of the utmost importance that he gets what I have for him."

"I don't remember the doctor ordering anything," it said. "What have you got for him?"

Looking like I was trying to remember something, I slowly said, "Hmm...What was it I was supposed to deliver? Umm...Oh yeah! I'm supposed to deliver one ass-kicking to him."

"Ass kicking?!" it yelled. "Who do you think you-"

The robot was cut off as I slammed my fist through its head.

The others came out of their hiding spots and walked up to me.

"Not bad, kid," Vector said, walking past me through the door.

"Kid?" I said, following him. "I'm not a kid, gramps." Knuckles and Big followed behind me into the Egg Fortress.

We walked into a large room. There were ten sides to this room, and five of them had Eggman's big mug on them.

"He really needs to find a new interior decorator," Knuckles commented.

"Where are all the robots?" Big asked.

"Hmm..." I said. "For some reason, I feel like we're gonna fall into one of his traps."

An alarm went off in another part of the fortress.

"Well, it seems like Sonic's having some fun," Vector said.

A loud sound began emenating from the walls with Eggman's face on it. The walls began moving upwards into the ceiling above it. As they moved upwards, a large cavity was revealed, each one holding large amounts of robots.

"It looks like we're about to have a little fun of our own," I said, laughing slightly.

"Five doors, five of us," Vector said. "Each one of us gets hundreds of robots to destroy."

"The one that destroys all of his first wins," Knuckles said.

"That sounds like fun," I finished.

The robots began moving out into the room, surrounding us.

"Titans, go!" I yelled without thinking. The others turned and stared at me. "Hehe...sorry. Wrong universe. Just attack already!"

Big whipped out his umbrella/fishing rod and began smashing all of his robots over the head. Vector ran through and crunched as many as he could get in one go in his large jaws. Keenan and Knuckles ran through their groups and smashed them with their brute strength. I surrounded my fists with fire and charged at my group, smashing through them easily.

It seemed a little too easy. These robots didn't seem like they were powered up by the Black Emerald.

"Something's wrong," Big said. "These robots are too weak."

We easily annihilated these robots.

"Maybe he just hadn't gotten to powering them up yet," I said.

Then something strange happened. The robots began pulling themselves back together.

"Uh-oh..."

"Great," Knuckles said. "Well, we'll just have to smash them again!" He ran forward to the closest one and threw a punch, to have it caught by the robot. "What the?!" The robot then picked him up and threw him back over to us.

{Uh...Zane?}

{Fin, what's up? I'm kinda busy right now}

{Zane, we have a problem...}

A robot charged at me, and I dodged to the side and gave it a swift kick in the abdomen area, kicking him in half.

A small glowy thing appeared above my head. I looked up to see the word Good. It then changed to the number 100.

{Uh...Fin, did I just win a hundred bonus points?}

{Yeah, the Dark Emerald is distorting this world even more. You have less than four hours before this world fuses with your world.}

{And..uh...What's wrong with that?}

{It would cause a series of catastrophic events. All life as we knew it would cease to exist.}

{Ah...Well, in that case, leave it to me!}

"Now we have a problem..." I muttered. "Grrr...Enough of this!" I focused on the emerald shard stuck in my arm, drawing on its powers. "Take this! Pyro Chaos!" The emerald shard activated and, fused together with my powers, it shot the arrows of flame out. They exploded under the robots and sent them flying upwards, and then formed into arrows and shot up and through the robots. The robots exploded, but I collapsed on the ground. "Damn," I muttered. "Not a lot of energy left..." A tye-dye Perfect appeared above my head, and then turned to the number 2000.

"Good job, Zane," Knuckles said, walking over to me.

"Once again, not bad, kid," Vector said.

A small buzzing noise filled the room. It got a little louder, and it was now the noise of a small toy helicopter thing.

"Uh-oh..." I said, trying to stand.

Knuckles grabbed me and helped keep me steady. "Zane, is that who I think it is?"

"I hope not," I said.

A blue laser shot down from above, and everyone jumped out of the way. Well...everyone except for me, that is. I was too weak to move. That and the fact Knuckles dropped me on the ground when he jumped. The laser hit the ground a few feet away from me, and the impact shot me through the air. I landed on the ground and rolled for a few feet. "Owwww...." I said.

Another laser shot out straight at me. "Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap...." I then felt something wrap around me, and moments later I was flying throught the air in the opposite direction. I landed in one of Big's arms, and he proceeded to untie the fishing line from his umbrella/fishing rod from my waist.

The thing that was making the noise settled down in front of us, revealing himself as Omochao. Keenan and Vector ran ahead and began fighting it. Omochao seemed to have the advantage.

Knuckles walked over to me. "Here, draw some energy from this," he said, taking out the Master Emerald. He turned it to its full size, and I quickly jumped on. I began drawing energy as I watched the fight. Omochao was outmatched, but he still had the advantage.

Omochao then created a shockwave which blasted the other four into the walls. He began glowing black, and his eyes turned from their normal color to a blood red color. Spikes began to protrude from his small mech body. He began to talk, and l noticed that underneath him, words began to form. "I am Onichao!! I am 1337!!1one11 PH34R M3!!"

"Great, now he speaks leet and he has subtitles?! This guy's going down!" I began to gather energy quicker, drawing in all the energy I could. My body grew more muscularly, and my hair turned from its bright red color to a blueish color. "Prepare to die, Onichao!!"

I leapt from the Master Emerald and shot a few fireballs at Onichao. I then ran after him. He dodged my fireballs and shot a spike at me. I jumped over the spike and blasted a fireball beneath me, shooting myself upwards. I got closer to Onichao and threw a barrage of punches at him, hitting him with every one. He took one of his own spikes and began hitting me over the head with it. I started falling to the ground, and I landed almost perfectly.

Deciding that this was getting me nowhere, I decided to try something that I had read about afew years ago. I focused my energies and heated the air beneath me to a very high degree. Soon, I began floating upwards. I focused my energy and began going faster. "Hey, I can fly!"

"He can fly!" the others said at the same moment.

"H3 c4n f1y?" Onichao said.

"Take this, Onichao!" I said, flying after him. I created two fireballs, one in each hand, and flew right beside him. I shot him with one and then flew to the other side, and shot him again. He was taking a serious beating, and he wasn't able to fight back anymore. He released all of his spikes, and they flew at me. I flew over them, but they turned around and continued following me. I flew, turning around to blast them, but my fireballs had no effect on the spikes. One of the spikes hit a wall and exploded.

"H4h4!!! j00 4r3 g0nn4 l0s3, w4rri0r!!11"

I then flew at straight at him. "Chaos Control!" I yelled, warping right before I hit him.

He turned around to face me. "Wh4t d0 j00 think j00'r3 d0ing?!!?1"

"Nighty-night, pain in the ass," I said. The spikes continued following me, right through Onichao's body, causing a large explosion. His body, what was left of it, clunked to the ground. I landed and walked over to him. All that was left was his head. "And so ends the fight with Onichao."

"Wait..." Onichao's head said. "Warrior, finish me before the eevil program takes control again."

"What the...?"

"Dr. Eggman infected me with a virus that gave me the power of the Dark Emerald. If you don't finish me soon, the program will reinitiate and I will regenerate."

"As you wish," I said. I walked over and micked his head up.

"Thank you," he said.

"No prob." I smashed his head with my other fist, expelling a black mist into the air.

"The energy of the Black Emerald," Knuckles said, walking up to me.

"Knux, are you guys all right?"

"Yeah, we're fine," Vector said.

A strange energy flooded the room.

"Looks like the worst is yet to come..." I said.

The energy distorted the area and warped us.

//Egg Fortress Battle Room//

We were dropped off in what looked like a large arena. "Where are we?" I asked.

"Hey, look," Big said. "The others are already here."

We all turned to see the others. Sonic was in his transformed state, his golden body expelling lots of energy. "I'll finish you for good this time, Eggman!" Sonic yelled.

"Where's Shadow?" Vector asked.

"I dunno..." I replied.

"I'll kill you, Eggman!" Sonic yelled, jumping at him.
