Chapter 8

Two weeks later…

"Come on Sha-Mach! We're going to have SO much fun!" Amy squealed, dragging the disguised hedgehog into `Chills & Thrills', the trendiest store in Station Square. To the outside, no one could have noticed that she had ever had any troubles or qualms with her new comrade. It had been over a month since Shadow had first arrived at Amy's doorstep. Over the period of time he had gone through a full recovery, all of his cuts, contusions, and broken bones had healed, revealing a quite handsome guy underneath. The past two weeks had healed almost all emotional troubles between the two, (the ones that Amy mentioned. She made no comment about the incident with the razor.) leaving them `peachy keen'.

"I don't like shopping…" `Mach' mumbled, looking around the brightly decorated store. Hundreds of different fashionable styles of clothing were displayed all around the huge establishment, all of it being hounded over by a lot of wannabe trendsetters.

Amy rolled her eyes. "Whatever, you're going to enjoy-…" She was suddenly at a lost for words when she saw it-the dress of her dreams-hanging conspicuously over every like something angelic. It was a skimpy short black tube dress with copper stitching and a mesh insert that would show off the wearer's abdominal area and lower back.

"Wow! It's SO gorgeous!" She was starry eyed. Sighing, Shadow looked over at the dress; frowning. He found it too skimpy for a girl of Amy's age-heck, for anybody!

"It's nice…If you're a prostitute. Goes nicely with the bars of a jail cell…"

"Whatever." Ignoring Shadow's rather sarcastic remark, Amy ran over to the dress in question, searching for the rack under it for her size. With a loud squeal of triumph, she snatched her dream dress and made a mad dash for the dressing rooms, which fortunately weren't that far away. Shadow-finally remembering why they came to the store in the first place-casually walked over to the shoe section, searching for a new pair of sneakers. His air shoes were long gone, having been mutilated during one of his long journeys before he arrived at Amy's door. While he was perfectly fine with the shoes Amy lent him-some simplistic red sneakers with a white stripe crossing over the middle of the shoe and a gold buckle on the outer edge of the shoe-Amy hated the sight of the shoes and wanted them destroyed immediately…

(A.N. These are Sonic's old `speed shoes'.)

2 minutes later…

"Wonderful…" Shadow looked at himself in the mirror, admiring how the shoes he had chosen went along with his `outfit', a black leather bomber jacket. He had forgone the sneakers and chose a pair of knee-high leather combat boots with steel toes and six wicked looking silver buckles traveling up each calf. Best of all, they were on sale. "60 dollars, much less than the 120 Amy wanted me to spend on shoes…" he muttered, sitting down on a wooden stool and pulling the boots off.

"Oh Ma-ach…"

His ears perked and his eyes roamed towards the dressing room, not prepared for what he was about to see. Amy was simply radiant, enough said. The dress fit her perfectly, accenting her rather curvy figure. The dress also showed off her sculpted abs, which glistened in the cheap fluorescent lighting. It came down to mid-thigh, which flaunted her flawless legs-something she was very proud of.

"How do you like it?"

"Um…" Shadow walked over to the scandalous hedgehog, blushing furiously.

"You look um…pretty…" His whole muzzle was beet red, which matched the true color of his eyes. He was mesmerized, never had he seen Amy look so beautiful. He tried to divert his eyes away from her but failed miserably. Amy smirked at him, relishing in his embarrassment.

"Cute."

"HUH?!" Shadow, snapped, breaking out of his self induced trance.

"I said thanks! Did you find some shoes you liked?"

"Yeah." He held up the boots.

Amy made a displeased face. "Oh… Let's pay for all of this.."

"How much did that dress cost?" Shadow asked, curious.

"500 dollars."

"WHAT?!"

"Hey, it was on sale!"

After paying for the two items Amy (who was still wearing the dress --) happily began to lead Shadow out of the store until she heard a familiar voice.

"Hey Amy, you're workin' that dress!"

The startled girl turned around, recognizing the voice immediately.

"Sonic." Her voice was tinged with a hint of emotion as she looked at her former blue idol standing across from her, a mean smirk on his face.

"Hey, if you keep this look up, I might think about letting you be with me." Sonic's smirk grew wider.

"Sorry, I don't need your acceptance anymore." The pink one's emerald eyes were cold as steel, a stark contrast to her old crush's ones. Seeing Amy's unpleasant demeanor, Sonic's smirk-and his amusement-disappeared, being replaced by his usual sarcastic persona.

"Well! Look's like Ms. Amy's growing up! Stopped playing with your Barbie dolls, huh?"

Before Amy could make a comment, Shadow-who had been quietly observing all of this in the shadows-quickly walked up to Amy's side, glaring at his counterpart with cold, vengeful eyes.

"Is there a problem?"
