Chapter 1 - The Mission

As the trio had walked further and further in to the woods the thin mist that had surrounded them in the beginning had turned into a dense fog and it was still getting thicker and thicker. Soon they could barely see each other.

"Master I think there is something ahead of us," Majic said to his teacher.

"Don't be foolish Majic there is nothing ahe oomph," Orphen said as he ran into something solid.

Orphen stuck his hand out and felt what he had run into.

It was a solid wooden door set in a large stone archway.

"It's a door," Cleao stated.

"I can see that Cleao. Thanks for stating the obvious," Orphen replied sarcastically.

Cleao pushed the door but it didn't even open a crack.

"It won't open," Cleao said.

Majic came up and ran his hand across the door tracing his fingers over some words that seemed to be carved into it.

"Sacred doors of Fang Manor I command thee, open," Majic said as he felt out what the words on the door said.

The big wooden doors, with a large groaning saound, started opening on their own .

Majic eyes widened.

"Did I do that," Majic said astounded.

"Yeah. Way to go Majic," Cleao said walking through the know open doors.

The fog seemed to get worse as they entered.

Suddenly Cleao started to disappear in the fog. Orphen stepped forward quickly and grabbed her shoulder.

"Don't go to far. I don't want to spend hours going round and circles searching for you," Orphen said.

"Well you're going to be doing that anyway," Cleao said matter of factly.

"What makes you say that?" Orphen asked.

"We've lost Majic," Cleao replied.

Just to prove her point they heard Majic call, "Master. Cleao. Where are you?"

"Over here Majic," Orphen called.

"Over where?" Majic asked sounding frightened.

"Follow my voice," Orphen said.

"Okay Masteeeerrrrrr," Majic began.

"Majic are you okay," Orphen asked hurriedly.

Silence was the only thing that answered him.

"Damn it Majic answer me," Orphen yelled.

There was silence still.

Orphen walked in the direction he had heard Majic's voice hauling Cleao along not wanting to loose her too. As he walked he felt himself kick something soft yet solid.

Orphen leaned down to inspect what he had kicked.

Below him sprawled out on the ground, with a large gash on his head, was Majic. The bag with their supplies was on top of him. Orphen removed the bag from on top of Majic quickly and rolled him over.

"Majic," Orphen exclaimed shaking his young apprentice.

"Oh god Majic," Cleao said kneeling down beside her childhood friend.

Orphen held his hands over Majic's gash and prepared to heal him.

"It won't work," said a female voice from out of nowhere.

"Who's there and what do you mean it won't work," Orphen yelled angrily looking around him.

"You are inside a containment spell, low levels of magic don't work in here, but you can try if you wish," the voice said levelly.

Orphen put his hands back over the gash and tried to heal Majic but nothing came out but a few sparks.

"Well what are we supposed to do and where are you?" Cleao yelled seeing Orphen's failure to heal Majic, "Our friend is hurt and needs help."

"There is no need to yell," said the voice and a cloaked figure appeared out of the fog, "I'm not deaf you know."

Orphen looked at the figure in a flowing black cloak.

He figured that the girl was about 159 centimeters tall but that was all he could tell but the thing that intrigued him the most was the fact that the fog seemed to clear around her like some magic force was propelling it away.

"Well what are we supposed to do?" Cleao asked standing up hands on her hips.

The figure turned her eyes on Orphen completely ignoring Cleao. She saw the dragon pendant around Orphen's neck.

"You come from the Tower of Fang. You must leave immediately," the figure said coldly.

"We'd love to but as you can probably tell we're lost," Cleao said sarcastically.

The figure turned her back on them and started to leave. She was stopped when Orphen started to talk. The cloaked girl spun around and faced him.

"Please," Orphen said getting on his knees, "Majic needs help. I beg of you."

Cleao was shocked. Orphen would never get down on his knees for anything let alone to beg .

The figure looked down at Majic then back at Orphen.

Leki bounded up to the girl and started barking. The figure looked down at Leki and appared to listen to the animal.

She sighed and said, "Alright follow me."

Orphen picked up Majic while Cleao attempted to lift the bag.

"Leave it Cleao we can collect it later," Orphen said.

Leki jumped into Cleao arms.

They followed the cloaked figure.

Orphen watched the figure and noticed that as she walked the fog seemed to part allowing her passage through it.

Soon they came to big wooden doors.

"I thought you were going to help us not lead us out of here," Cleao said angrily.

The figure swung around and faced her.

Orphen sighed.

`You've gone and done it know Cleao' Orphen thought.

The figure held up her right hand and clicked her fingers. The doors opened to reveal a solid stone entryway.

The figure swung around and walked in. Orphen followed and looked around.

Old dragon tapestries hung on the walls. Several of the dragon's he'd seen in history and information books at the tower others he had never seen before.

As the figure guided them through the hallways and up stone staircases candles ignited only to extinguish themselves when the group passed.

Soon they arrived at a large green wooden door.

The figure clicked again and the door opened.

As they entered the candles and chandelier, in the center f the room, ignited themselves.

The room was quite large and grandly furnished.

In the center was a couch. Orphen walked over and lay Majic down on it.

The figure came over and knelt down beside Majic and placed her hands above the gash Majic had on his head.

"Heal," she said.

A white glow surrounded her hands and passed to Majic's head. Soon the gash had disappeared leaving a scar.

"I thought you said you couldn't use magic here?" Cleao asked suspiciously.

"I said you couldn't use weak magic here," the figure said, "Come to me phoenix tears."

A small bottle appeared in her hands.

She opened the bottle and allowed a few drops to drip onto Majic's scar.

The scar disappeared from Majic's flawless skin.

"Thank-you," Orphen said holding out his hand, "My name is Orphen. The loud mouth is Cleao and the klutz is Majic."

"You're welcome," the figure said and took his hand, "My name is Shamira Fang."

Orphen stopped shaking the girl's hand.

"As in Anaheim Fang?" Orphen asked one eyebrow raised.

"He was my father," Shamira said.

She walked over to the door and removed her cloak hanging it up on a hook by the door.

Her jet-black hair hung down to her calves held in a sort of pony tail that was held at intervals by ribbon. She had olive skin and a thin figure, which was clad in tight, black leather hipster shorts and leather mid-drift top that tied up at the front. The Tower of Fang symbol was tattooed across her lower back. When she turned around Orphen saw that she also wore a black leather choker with the Tower of Fang Symbol on it and her eyes were as black as her hair.

"I didn't think Anaheim had a child," Orphen said, "After all the school was taken over by the elders."

"My father never had a male child," Shamira said coldly going over to the window and looking out it at the moon.

"Sexist pigs," Cleao said from where she was studying the range of books on the bookshelf.

"But can't you claim the school," Orphen asked sitting down in one of the armchairs.

"Not if I can't prove I exist," Shamira said turning to look at Orphen.

It all clicked. The containment spell was cast to contain her not magic.

Anger grew inside him. How could they do such a thing to a human?

"I don't understand," Cleao said.

"The containment spell, it was cast to contain her within the grounds of this place," Orphen said to Cleao.

Cleao looked horrified.

"You mean you haven't been outside this place?" Cleao asked.

"Not since I was five-years old," Shamira said sighing.

A groan from the couch disturbed them.

Majic sat up and looked around.

"Where am I?" he asked groggily.

"You're inside Fang Manor," Orphen answered.

Majic looked around and his eyes fell on Shamira.

"Who are you?" Majic asked.

"Shamira Fang," Shamira replied walking over to the couch and kneeling before it she lifted Majic's fringe up to see if the phoenix tears hadn't worn off like they had been doing lately, "How are you feeling?"

"Fine," Majic said a blush spreading across his face.

"Shamira healed you Majic," Cleao said seeing the blush.

"Thank-you," Majic said softly.

"You're welcome," Shamira said standing up.

"This particular containment spell can be broken. I've heard of the elders using it before. It needs two sorcerors to break it but if I'm correct in assuming no one has been able to break it because they haven't been powerful enough. Am I right?" Orphen asked.

"Yes Orphen you are," Shamira said, "There is no way to break it. Many have tried and failed. You see one sorceror has to be on the inside casting the spell but no one has been strong enough to even create a spark. You're the strongest to pass through here. Also I can't break it because it's immune to my magic."

Orphen thought for awhile while Cleao filled Majic in on what was happening. Majic was sickened by the thought of the girl being trapped in this place.

Orphen suddenly grinned.

"I have an idea," Orphen said, "Are you willing to try it?"

Shamira looked at him and nodded.

"I'll explain it to you tomorrow," Orphen said.

"May I ask what brings you out this way in the first place?" Shamira asked.

"One of friends are sick. He got seduced by this half woman half beast thing but was able to run from her but he is ..." Cleao started but was interrupted by Shamira.

"He had a run in with a Lamia?" Shamira asked a little shocked, at Orphen's nod she continued, "That's weird. That means you're going up to Dragon Mountain to get some of Taranis's blood to heal him. Am I right."

Orphen nodded again.

Shamira snorted and said, "You are foolish going up there Taranis is one of the Majestic Five if you're even able to make it up the mountain you will not be able to defeat all five dragons at once."

"We don't have much of a choice. We have to try," Majic said.

Shamira looked at her feet and said, "It probably won't help him anyway."

Orphen sat up and looked at her.

"What do you mean?" Cleao demanded rudely.

"Everything has been weakened by something. I don't know what it is," Shamira replied not looking up, "Not only that something has happened and it has turned the Majestic Five evil."

"You know this how?" Cleao asked coldly.

"I can't tell you," Shamira replied her voice barely a whisper.

"I want to know. How do you know?" Cleao said standing in front of Shamira hands on her hips and a scowl on her face.

Orphen saw that Shamira's body was starting to glow.

"Cleao stop it now," Orphen demanded.

"No I want to know how she knows all that," Cleao said glaring at Shamira.

Shamira lost it then. Her anger raised her power level to the extent where she couldn't control it.
Everything within a meter of her was blown backwards into the wall with a great force.

Cleao hit the stone wall with a sickening thud.

"Oh god Cleao," Majic said running over to the blonde girl.

Orphen looked at Shamira.

"I'm so sorry," Shamira said close to tears.

"You can't control your magic properly can you?" Orphen said.

Shamira shook her head, "No. I try really hard but a lot of the time I can't keep it in check. Especially when I get angry."

Cleao was on her feet now.

Majic had been listening to Orphen and Shamira.

"Thanks for your concern," Cleao growled at the two boys.

"It was your own fault Cleao. I told you to stop," Orphen said straight out.

"Master does have a point," Majic said then covered his mouth his eyes wide.

Cleao punched Majic in the arm and stormed out of the room.

Leki, who had jumped up on large wooden desk that sat against the wall by the door, stirred from his sleep and watched his master storm out of the room.

He looked at Shamira and whined.

"It's alright young pup she will be fine," Shamira said to Leki.

Leki yawned and went back to sleep.

Majic and Orphen looked at her.

Shamira was staring out the window again.

"It's late. I'll show you to the guest rooms," Shamira said not wanting to be asked questions at this time.

"What about Cleao?" Majic asked.

"I'll look for her in a minute," Shamira said.

Shamira led Majic and Orphen out of the room and after travelling down several halls they found themselves in a corridor lined with several doors.

Shamira opened the first two.

"I hope you sleep well," Shamira said bowing and leaving the two to find Cleao.

Majic and Orphen watched as Leki followed Shamira around like he belonged to her.

"Master," Majic said looking at Orphen.

"You get a good nights rest Majic you need to be rested for tomorrow. My plan will be a great test for both you and Shamira," Orphen said and went into his room shutting the door.

Majic went into his and soon the two were asleep.

"Cleao. Where are you?" Shamira called.

Leki howled.

They rounded a corner and found Cleao looking at a huge portrait.

Shamira cringed. She had hoped no one would see that.

Cleao turned and looked Shamira.

"Who is the woman in the picture and why does she have wings?" Cleao asked.

"She is my mother she was a Shamanic Angel. It's late," Shamira said closing the conversation, "I'll take you to the room you'll be staying in."

Cleao made a note to ask Orphen what a Shamanic Angel was in the morning.

Cleao followed Shamira up to where Majic and Orphen's rooms were and led her to the third door on the right hand side.

"I hope you sleep well," Shamira said continuing on to an archway with stairs that looked like they led up to a tower of some sort.

When Shamira had disappeared, Cleao went into her room and went over to the bed.

She fell asleep as soon as her head hit the soft pillows.

The Majestic Five are five random dragons I've come across recently in books. A Lamia is a mythical creature of the Libyan desert who devours children and leads men to their doom. Described most commonly as a fourfooted beast with the head and breasts of a woman a scaly, dragonlike body and a long horselike tail.

I'm going to let the readers choose the pairings.
