[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Welcome to chapter 2 of “Normal Like You.” (Hey! That rhymed!)
Thank you to those who reviewed. I appreciate it.
My sugar has worn off.
That means I have to get more.
Alright, here you go:
Normal Like You
Chapter 2: Womanizers and Lunch Dates
Roy Harper was known for getting around. If he hadn't slept with the girl, she swooned as he walked by. The only girl that seemed resistant to his charms was `that Roth chick,' as he so lovingly called her, and he was determined to change that.
“Yo, Roth,” he said as she was gathering her lunch from her locker.
“Go away,” she said, without looking up.
“That's cute,” he chuckled, “I love it when you play hard to get.”
“I'm not playing hard to get. I totally and sincerely want you to go away.”
“So, Roth, got any plans this weekend?”
“Nothing that involves you.”
“'Cause I was thinking. You, me, and a pack of beers. My place?”
“Roy,” she turned to him, “I want you to listen, because this answer will be something you should hear.”
“I'm listening, babe.”
She flinched at the `babe' comment. “Listening? Good. No.”
“Playing hard to get,” he laughed as he walked away, “I love it.”
Raven shook her head in his direction and slammed her locker shut.
“What was that all about?”
She jumped and turned to face the person who just spoke. She was surprised to see the boy from the bus. Gar, wasn't it?
“You know Roy?” He grinned. “Stupid question. Everyone knows Roy.”
“Oh… Yeah. He, uh, likes to give me a hard time. Usually I tell him to shove his head up his ass, but he never listens.” She stopped herself. Since when did she give information away this freely?
“Yeah. Anyway, wanna eat lunch with me and Vic?” He held up a brown sack. “You can watch us bicker about each other's lunches.”
“Dinner and a show,” she mused, “Tempting…” She smiled beneath the hood of her sweatshirt. “Eh, why not? Nothing better to do.”
XxX
Gar hadn't been wrong about the `bickering'. Vic was some position on the football team (Raven didn't care enough to find out) with chocolate skin and bright blue eyes. He was strongly built and seemed to prefer the color blue. He was nearly carnivorous as he gobbled up his veggie-free lunch.
Gar, on the other hand, had gulped down a completely vegetarian lunch.
And both had no qualms about arguing over what each other was eating.
“Dude,” Gar shouted, “That is just sick!”
“What's sick is that barely edible stuff you call tofu,” Vic countered.
Raven soon realized there was only so long one could listen to the classic fight between carnivore and herbivore before developing a twitch. She grabbed her lunch box and slammed it between the two. They stopped to look at her, somewhere between startled and frightened.
“I could care less,” she growled, “about either of your eating habits. If you could please just shut up so I can eat, I'll leave the lunch box right here so you can't see what each other is eating.”
They stared at her for a moment. Taking this as an agreement, she bit into her apple. Chewing on it then swallowing, she turned back to them.
“Stop staring and eat your goddamn lunch.”
They were all too happy to agree.
`I should've just kept hiding in the teacher's lounge.'
Author Time (whee):
Borrowed the last bit from Angel Moxie where one of the character's hiding spots during lunch was the teacher's lounge. In case you were wondering, “Normal Like You” is an Everclear song that reminds me a lot of Raven.
Anyway, the reason Roy's going after Raven is `cause a) I haven't introduced Starfire yet (and when that happens, he's gonna ease up on Rae a bit) and b) I'm using him to get Raven and Gar into an awkward situation.
Next chapter: there's someone at the library, and Raven sneaks in through the window.
Thanks for reviewing. Now, if you would please review so I don't have to do something horrible to you (I'm getting more vague with my threats).
Responses:
dark girl- No offense, but do you need a spell checker or something? (Sorry, grammar freak) `Could've been better', eh? Hope this chapter was better.
zerowolfgirl- Yes, I write. Cool, eh? Yeah, I noticed the mistakes too when I reread it (after I posted it unfortunately). Ah, well. We can't all be perfect. Poor you. Hope your hands thaw alright.
loviegurlie- Whee! Cookies!! Sugar rush!!!
Angel Caida- Didya like it? I updated! Whee!
x- I'm going to assume you mean ten out of ten, so thanks!
animeobsessed3191- Of course I wouldn't copy “Different.” First of all, you review like all my stories, so I'm not that stupid, and secondly, I am better than that. ^__^
Hanita-chan- I updated! I shall not suffer!
RavenFlyingSolo- I like Raven's purple hair. But to have someone purple and someone green would've been odd, so I just kept it purple. `Sides, Gar's cool-like with blonde hair.
