Teen Titans Fan Fiction ❯ Normal Like You ❯ The Aftermath ( Chapter 10 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

The lacking of an update was a horrible act that I shall try to avoid again. Especially when I left such a horribly evil cliffie (glee.) On the plus side, your reviews made me very happy.
For those of you who have yet to hear: NEW TITAN EPISODES COMING ON THE 24!!!!

And… Just for those who have yet to hear: New Fullmetal Alchemist episodes this Saturday.
I'm not sure which I'm more excited about.
Normal Like You
Chapter 10: The Aftermath
Her head her so much…
“What the hell did you do?”
Her stomach churned…
A chuckle. “She'll live another day.”
She felt like she was drowning in the darkness…
A crack. Like when her father punched her mother when she was five. Her mother's nose had broken.
She was lying on something soft…
A bed.
Not hers (too big and soft for that) but a bed nonetheless. Raven blinked. Where was she? She turned on her side and saw Gar staring at her. His eyes lit up with delight and he swept her into a hug. This, of course, only served to confuse her further.
“Gar?” she said in a menacing tone, “What the hell?”
He pulled back sheepishly, a grin still plastered on his face.
“Where am I?” she asked.
“Um… Dick's house.” He started fidgeting nervously.
“Why am I in his bed?”
“Well, you're not in his bed, exactly. His guest room really and-”
“Gar. What-the-hell-happened?”
He let out a deep breath. “Fine. Roy put something in your drink and you passed out so Dick told me to put you in here because he had other problems to deal with (which I assumed he meant Kori and Kitten; that was not pretty) and then I waited for you to wake up… which you did…”
God, her head was aching. “What happened between Kori and Kitten?”
“Kitten caught Kori and Dick dancing and attacked her. Kori can fight really well.”
“As long as Kitten got her ass kicked.”
“Nearly. Dick forced them apart. It got really late, so Vic drove Kori home.”
“What time is it now?”
“After midnight.”
Well, she was dead.
“Do you need a ride home?”
`No!' “No. I need to kick Roy's ass.”
“Oh… right…” Gar leaned back, seeming to study the ceiling. “I kinda… broke… Roy's nose…”
So that was the sound she'd hurt. She smiled at Gar, and he seemed shaken by the action. “I feel an overwhelming urge to hug you, but I won't.”
“So… do you still need that ride?”
Unfortunately, she did. Her dad was probably snoring in front of the TV by now, but with her luck that night, probably not. She sighed in defeat. “Sure.”

It was a simple matter of climbing up the tree next to her window. Something she'd done many a time before.
But not in complete dark. (Well, complete dark except for a lone streetlight three houses down, but that hardly shed any light on the situation.)
At least she'd gotten Gar to drive away before she had to go in. (Another simple matter of explaining to him that if her father woke up and noticed a boy parked outside, many a bad thing would happen.)
It was easy to find her usual start point: the strongest branch bent over close to the ground. The nearest branch she could climb up to that was not so easily found. When she finally did, she nearly lost her footing, scraping her knee against a smaller branch.
It took her a good half-hour to finally climb up to her window.
Raven collapsed onto her bed, completely worn out. She figured she had a few good days of feeling sick before the pounding headache and nausea settled.
Her eyes went wide open as she realized something.
Why were her lights on?
“Where have you been all night, young lady?” asked a cold, sarcastic voice.
Monday was gonna suck.
><><><><><><
Monday came.
The morning was fairly normal. It wasn't until Raven actually got to class that anything happened.
Ten, maybe fifteen, minutes before class started, she sat in the back of the room (her usual spot.) And, of course, the red-haired visage of Roy popped up with one difference: a cast over his nose.
Raven burst out laughing.
“Glad you think this is funny, Roth,” he said her name as if it were a curse word, and his tone was far from friendly.
“I don't…” she gasped between chuckles, “It's not… I'm sorry… It's just so…”
“You and your boyfriend are going to pay.”
“First of all: not my boyfriend. Secondly, do anything,” she broke into a more serious tone, “And I break off more than just your nose.”
With a growl, he picked her up and sat her on the desk. He came down on her hard, forcing himself onto her. Raven's eyes went wide before she promptly kneed him between the legs and shoved him back, wiping her mouth with a disgusted face. A squeal came from the person behind him. This person turned out to be Kori.
“Friend…Raven…?” Kori stared at Roy for a moment.
“What do you want, Kori?” Raven asked, stepping over the twitching body. She made sure to give him a nice kick in the head.
“Oh, yes!” The girl's face instantly brightened. “I have important news! New friend Dick has invited me on a date this Saturday!”
“What?!”
Kori and Raven turned around. An enraged Kitten stood behind them, her body shaking.
“You little… What did you do? Screw him? I don't know who you think you are, but just because you act so innocent doesn't mean everyone's going to fall for you. If you so much as touch a single strand of his gorgeous hair, I'll-”
Raven, who'd been gathering her books as Kitten had been talking, whacked the blond with her binder. Kitten sat stunned for a moment before screaming. And Kitten had a loud, loud, loud voice.
“You little bitch! You may think that everyone is afraid of you, but if you…”
“Kori?” Raven turned to her friend. “I'm thinking of skipping first. Want to join me?”
Kori looked between the still-withering Roy and the red-faced Kitten. “I would be happy to!”
Raven and Kori walked from the classroom, Kitten still screaming insults. Once they were at a safe distance, they began laughing. It was the third time Raven had laughed in three years. Her friends were rubbing off on her.
“Friend Raven,” Kori smiled, “Thank you for warding off the evil Kitten.”
“No problem,” Raven answered. A nuisance as Kori was, she was still a friend, and Raven realized she wasn't going to get many of those.
Which made her think of Gar.
She remembered the party, when all she saw was him and the emotion so obvious in his eyes. She could understand fury, and even pain, but jealousy?
Was he jealous that Roy had kissed her and not him?
“Friend Raven,” Kori snapped her from her thoughts.
“What?”
“You were doing the `spacing out.' Perhaps you were thinking of friend Gar…?”
Raven did a double take. “Eh… What?”
“I have noticed that there is something between you two… I am not sure how to describe it…”
“Kori, there is nothing between me and Gar. He's just an annoying friend. Can we get off the subject?” she sighed as she thought of the only way to get Kori to drop it. “Tell me about… you date with Dick…”
Oh God, this was going to be torture.
><><><><><
Oh God, this was torture.
“Will you leave me alone, dude?” Gar hissed. The teacher had long ago given up on the lesson and was now allowing free talk.
Vic grinned. “You punched a guy out for her.”
“Because he drugged her!” Gar whispered the last part as if afraid someone was listening. “Like you weren't thinking of doing the same thing. I just got there first.”
“Look, just admit it man. I mean, we aw her making out with Roy, and you go berserk!”
“Because it was Roy.
“You were going over there to punch him out before she even passed out.”
“No. I was going to ask him why Raven was kissing him when Raven hates him.”
“So what would you've done if Raven had been making out with him of her own free will under the influence of nothing?”
“I wouldn't do anything.”
“Nuh-uh.”
“Whatever you say, dude.”
Gar growled. Dammit, he had been jealous when he saw Roy all over Raven. The truth was, he'd always found her endearing form a distance. When she was thrown into his lap (quite literally) he jumped at the chance to finally meet hr. And maybe, just maybe, he liked her as more than a friend. But if he told her that, she'd hurt him to no extent.
But maybe a bit of pain was okay. Because pain let him know he was alive.
And he was feeling pretty dead at the moment.

100 REVIEWS EVERYBODY!!! DO THE RANDOMLY SPASTIC DANCE OF SUGARY GOODNESS AND HYPER-ER-ER-ER-NESS-E-NESS!!!!
Expect a one-shot commemorating this event. A bb/rae one-shot, of course. If I ever type it up.
Remember I took a chunk out of the last chapter? Well I took a chunk out of this one and made it better (and longer.)
I'm kinda disappointed that the Kitten and Roy thing seemed kinda random. Ah, well. Good for laughs.
