Jin’s POV
It’s a gray dull day, I’m pretty sure the rain will start coming down… soon. Already on my way home and the look of the sky is starting to scare me; I can’t say I enjoy riding home alone. But the person I’m in love with… for lack of better words doesn’t know I exist. So, today as any other day, she went to the arcade to meet someone and I followed her to make sure she gets home okay. You know… sometimes I really hate that girl!
Watching her arrive, soaking wet pains me; she runs thru the open door. I park the car and walk under an umbrella to the safety of the mansion. I assume she ran to her bedroom; judging by the looks the maids are giving. Walking up the steps, the maids are bowing while drying the expensive wood that lines the steps.
Walking into my bedroom and closing the door softly behind me; I wonder what Xiaoyu is doing? Opening the door to my person veranda; it’s a nice cool night. I enjoy looking out on the small forest the mansion offers. It reminds me of my Mother; we spend a lot of time in the forest. It puts my hidden fears and sorrows at peace. She was taken from me… and I am going to avenge her death!
Looking at my watch seeing it’s time for dinner; I must always be on time. My Grandfather expects a lot from me and I want to live up to all those expectations, I do have the honor of being the grandson of the great Heihachi Mishima. Dressed in my black dinner attire, I walk into the dining area waiting for Xiaoyu. I can’t wait to see her; but she is always late, and I assume today will be no different.
She finally walks thru the door; I can’t help but smile, bowing “Evening Xiao.” I love the way she looks at me; so sometimes I wonder how she can have a boyfriend… that’s not me. “Evening Jin” she says bowing and it sounds good. She must know I have something for her; the way she locks her big brown eyes with mine. I wish I could kiss her… but it’s time for dinner; I’m not even hungry.
Sitting on the left side of my Grandfather and Xiaoyu on the right; I do my best to listen to everything he says. But aside from a few nods and yes’s, I don’t really hear anything. I’ve decided to try to make friends with her; so I try to frequently smile at her. Maybe she’ll react to me? I wonder if she smiles back because she is accepting my advances or because she feels bad for me. Probably the later… she does have someone. She is radiant tonight; taking me back to our training matches. She is beautiful in her phoenix stand looking in my eyes; sometimes I have to convince myself to focus. I don’t particularly like having to come down to dinner every night; but this is the only way I’d see Xiaoyu before bed… so be it.
With dinner over, I can’t stand to be in this room tonight; changing into a sweat suit I’m going to take a walk. Jumping off the veranda onto the cold hard ground; walking to my right… past Xiao’s room. What luck she’s outside tonight; “Xiao?” Maybe she didn’t hear me; “Xiao?”
Finally she looks over the ledge of the veranda; I wave hi and motion for her to come down. She seems to be debating this; maybe this wasn’t a good idea. I can’t say I thought about this before I invited her; that’s not like me to think about everything before I do it. Maybe it’s a good thing; but that thought changes when she motions she’ll be right down.
I’m good at playing the cool, calm facade; she looks good. She Stops a few feet in front of me, “Thank you for coming Xiao.” She looks uncomfortable; “Oh… okay… um so what’s up?” “Nothing” I answer motioning for us to walk “I actually just wanted to see if you wanted to go for a walk tonight?” “Sure… we won’t get in trouble right” she asks; I want to laugh, but that’s not the impression to give. Shaking my head and placing my hands behind my back; wanting to ease the uncomfortable feeling she is giving off.
There is too much silence; I’ve never been a big talker, but I think I’m going to need to start this. “So tell me Xiao… do you like living at Mishima mansion?” “Yes of course” she answers quickly; “But sometimes it can be a little stiff.” I can feel the smile on my face, she has no idea; “I know what you mean!” She doesn’t seem to be getting into any type of conversation; great look likes I’m going to have to do all the talking. Clearing my throat; “Yeah things can be really stiff here; Grandfather makes me listen in on the staff instructions. Sometimes it’s hard being the grandson… you know?”
Turns out I did all of the talking; but talking to Xiaoyu is really easy. I suppose it’s because we live under the same roof… we can relate. Finally making it to the entrance of the mansion and the end of the walk; I’m having a good time. We stop and face each other; “Xiao, thanks for coming tonight. I don’t have… any friends… well until you.” I don’t really have anything else to say; smiling I turn and walk into the mansion. Opening the door; looking back at her before I close the door. Xiaoyu is still standing in the dark; smiling hoping that’s a good sign.
