Chapter One

As Ryoko zoomed her way along the stars, she remembered her last encounter with Sasami. Ryoko had spotted some sake, and when she went to take it, Sasami wouldn't let her have any.

You can't have that, Ryoko.

Why not?

Well, it's just not for you!

But I want it! I NEED it!

You can't! It's for . . . this new dish I'm trying . . .

Rethinking that last thing that Sasami had said to her sent shivers down Ryoko's spine. What had she meant by that? Well, besides the obvious. But Ryoko couldn't help but think that something was wrong. The look in Sasami's eyes that night . . .

Ryoko was jolted from her memories as there was a scream from Ryo-okhi, and a screen popped up in front of her. There, right before her face was the last person she wanted to see again . . . ever.

"Hey Ryoko! How's it going?"

"Not well, Tenchi. Can you please just go away?"

Why was he everywhere? He was the whole reason she had left her newly established place on Jurai. That snobby bitch princess had stolen him. And Ryoko had almost won him over . . . when Ayeka snatched him up and married him on Jurai. And then, just a few months after they were married, Ayeka was found to be pregnant. Ryoko couldn't help but think that it had such an uncanny resemblance to his father . . .

"What's wrong, Ryoko?"

"Nothing!!!"

Ryoko canceled transmission. She slumped back into the chair behind her and rubbed her temples. No, thinking about him wouldn't do her any good. Just forget about him . . . it wasn't meant to be. Then, all of a sudden, she heard a huge screech behind her. Ryo-okhi gave another scream, but this one was of delight, as Yuno-kagi came into view. Ryoko sat up, her bad mood brightening up somewhat. Suddenly, Kiyone's face popped up in front of her.

"How's the new ship working out for you?" asked Ryoko.

"Fine, but that's not what I need to talk about," responded Kiyone.

"Well, what do you need to talk about?" asked Ryoko, innocently.

"Well, it's somewhat . . . odd," finished Kiyone hesitantly. "It's about two planets which have just attracted some attention from the Galactic Union, and, therefore, the Galaxy Police. I just thought you should know which ones they are . . ."

"What's wrong, Kiyone? What are the planets?"

"A planet called Vegetasei, and . . . well, . . . earth."

Ryoko let out a gasp of happiness which Kiyone mistook for one of terror. Right away, she started to try and console Ryoko.

"I know, Ryoko, it's horrible, but I've already checked and Sasami is fine, and - " She was cut off by Ryoko, who was dancing around in delight.

"Are you KIDDING me? This is the best news I've heard in 700 years!!! Oh, well, Kiyone, I think I'll have to talk to you later, because I have to go!"

Kiyone was about to warn Ryoko when she canceled the screen and sped off in the directions of Vegetasei.
