Tenchi Muyo Fan Fiction ❯ Tenchi Muyo: Tenshi Ryoko ❯ #2: Hello, Is Ryoko There? ( Chapter 2 )
Tenchi was standing at the phone box. He hurriedly dialled the number. He certainly needed to make this call. He needed to talk to her. He looked by his notes, and frowned. Millions of Ryokos smiled back at him. There was even an embrassed one with her towel on the floor. He didn't realise how much he had care for her. And He had said That to her. He felt a jerk. Grandfather delivering his appology did not seem to be enough for her, he had to appologise straight to her. Finally the phone started to phone…
Mihoshi:Hello?
Tenchi: Hello, is Ryoko there… I hope you are well too Mihoshi.
Mihoshi: TENCHI!!!! How is College going?!!??!
Tenchi: It's going fine. Is Ryoko around? I really need to talk to her.
Mihoshi:Er… One sec….
She placed the phone to one side, and went up to Ryoko's room.
Mihoshi:Ryoko!! Guess who is on the phone for you!!!? Ryoko?
She went in. It was empty.
Mihoshi: Oh dear, she is out…
She went back to the phone.
Mihoshi: Tenchi? Sorry, she seems to have gone out…
Tenchi: Oh. When will she back, or don't you know?
Mihoshi: … no… sorry, though… I don't think I've seen her since you left. Not even at dinner!
Tenchi: What? You sure? Where's Grandfather? I need to ask him if he delivered my appology to her…
Mihoshi: He's at the temple. Sorry Tenchi.
Tenchi: Oh… Well I hope she's ok. Well, anything interesting happen recently? Anything I've missed?
Mihoshi: Ummmm… Well, not really, though Washu tried to experiment to find out what way Cabbits like their carrots served best.
Tenchi: Uh huh….(sweatdrop) That the most exciting thing?
Mihoshi: Yep, sorry, Things are booooorrrrrrinnnnngg without you. Washu seems to have lost her inspiration or something.
Tenchi: Ah… Well tell everyone I phoned and missed them, got to get ready for lectures now. Bye.
Mihoshi: Oh! Of course! Good luck! Bye bye!
Tenchi put the phone down and sighed. The call had not made him feel any better. Suddenly he noticed he had a pencil in one hand. Then he noticed the piece of paper right byhis hand. A Ryoko with tears, and an angery face looked up at him. He sighed again. He said softly,
"Sorry Ryoko. I truly am."
Sat next to Amagasakai, he started doodling again. His friend looked intently at the chibi Ryokos.
"Say Tenchi, when are you going to do a realistic sketch of the shower one? I look forward to it!"
"I know you do… But they happen randomly…"
"I'll pay ya money for such a sketch!"
"Be quiet and Pay attension. I don't have any control over what I draw, OK?"
They listenned to the lecture for a while. His friend had another look, and noticed now he had done a sketch on a piece of paper separate to the rest of his notes.
"How much do you want?"
"…Huh?"
Tenchi looked confused, then looked down, and saw the shower Ryoko, non-chibi-rized, shouting a warning to Amagasaki. Suddenly Tenchi reached for his tissues from his bag under his seat, and reappeared with bits of tissue stuck up his nose. The girl infront of him sniggered, as the look was more common on Amagasaki, and looked funny on Tenchi.
After the lesson the girl went up to Tenchi, with her friends.
"Hey Tenchi, just who is that girl?"
"Huh? Oh, someone from home. Someone I was harsh to before I left, and I really regret what I said. I miss her."
"Then phone her, geez, you guys just don't realise how much a call is apprieated."
"I tried. But she wasn't there. I am getting worried about her."
"Oh, well good luck Tenchi. And a tip, show her some of your doodles when you see her, to show her how much you care, but be careful to hide the shower ones. >..o"
"Yeah... I know what you mean... They happen randomly, I don't have any control over it remember."
"Yes, of course, we believe you. >..o >..o"
The girls left Tenchi, looking embaressed. Mind you, most girls left him like that. He went to find Amagasaki, who went on to complain about how he had all the luck with girls. They sat down for lunch. Soon his mash potatoes resembled Ryoko, and it was a surprisingly good likeness, considering the medium. Tenchi sighed.
Ryoko had stopped wondering, and was sitting on a log. It wasn't that she was tired, since she didn't care about such things anymore. It was that she didn't care to go on any more. It was just as productive as sitting on this log, which is obvious, as nothing was at all productive anymore, since nothing mattered. A twig snapped. She didn't turn to look, since she couldn't care less. But she still recognised who it was. If she had cared, she would of been surprised. But she didn't, so she wasn't. The figuare lifted a hand, and a shadow detached from the darkness, and flattered round the small clearing.
"Just kill me."
The attacker looked confused, and stepped back, expecting a trap.
"I don't care anymore."
She shreaded a tear. The figuare understood, and smerked. The Shadow swept over Ryoko, and she was gone. The figuare had also gone. The clearing was empty again, appart from one little thing Ryoko had dropped. It was a strip of photos, like those from a photo booth. Depicted in the photos were Tenchi and Ryoko. They showed Ryoko mucking around for most part. All but the last. In this one, Tenchi had had the last laugh. It showed Tenchi kissing a surprised Ryoko. But it now had a tear on it. And so it lay, by the log, in the clearing.
Ayeka was rushing around the household. It was about a week after Tenchi left. The place was in a bit of a panic, with the recent realisation of Ryoko's disappearence, and that she was nowhere near. Ryo Ohki couldn't even sense her any long. Washu, Ryo Ohki, Father, Grandfather, and Sasami had gone out to look for her. The shock of Ryoko being completely missing, and that she didn't say anything before, had caused Mihoshi to go synical again, and she had talked about body bags, or maybe there would be no need, and some beastie would of already cleaned up. Needless to say, Ayeka was now avoiding her.
The phone ringed.
"Hello is Ryoko there?"
"Tenchi! Oh Tenchi, I am sorry, Ryoko is nowhere to be found! Ryo Ohki can't sense her or anything! We already checked the local town even! No sign. We are seriously worried about her. Almost everyone else is out looking for her. I'll get Grandfather to call you to give you an update, but so far, we know nothing. We are worried. I am even worried. Very worried. I... I even thought you on the phone just now might be her."
Tenchi listenned on the other end. He was now worried. Back on Ayeka's end, Mihoshi had found her.
Mihoshi: Who's that on the phone.
Ayeka: Huh? Oh, it's Tenchi.
Mihoshi: Thought so. I Hope you tell him this is all his fault.
Ayeka: MIHOSHI!
Tenchi: er... What is going on?
Ayeka: Oh Mihoshi is in one of her synical moods.
Tenchi: Mihoshi? Synical?
Ayeka: Tends to happen to her whenever she has a nasty shock.
Mihoshi: It's his fault, his fault, his fault, It's his fault...
Ayeka: Stop that!
Tenchi: Er...What?
Ayeka: Oh it's Mihoshi, she is being very nasty.
Tenchi: Sounds hard to imagine...
Ayeka: You don't want to. Don't know how we are going to ger her out of this time, last time, we told her about your appology.
Tenchi: Ah, I am sorry about what I said by the way...
Ayeka: Yes we know.
Mihoshi: But you did it too late for some!
Ayeka:????
Tenchi:Mihoshi?
Mihoshi: Forgot we have two phones, ay? Now to sing... It's all Tenchi's Fault, It's all Tenchi fault...
Ayeka:Anyway Tenchi, sorry I couldn't help out much. I think you had better go. Hope we can phone back later with some good news.
She put down the phone. Then she legged it, to find a hiding place from Mihoshi.
Later on, Tenchi walked back to his appartment. On arriving, he found grandfather waiting for him. He excitedly went to him.
"Any news on Ryoko?"
Grandfather looked at him, sighed and handed him a strip of photos.
"This is all we found. It was in a clearing quite a way off from the house. We continued searching after that, but we found nothing. Washu even tried various scans of the area. Nothing unusal. We can't even see where she stepped. We all think it is unlikely we will see Ryoko again."
"But how? How could she leave, she didn't take Ryo Ohki, right? So how....how...how?"
Tenchi now had tears too. He clunched the photos and remembered the moment. Ryoko had managed to drag him into one of the booths, then had done various silly poses. Before the final one, Ryoko had made the joke suggestion that they should kiss, to annoy Ayeka. He didn't know why, and Ryoko had not expected it at all, but he had carried out the suggestion. There she was, extremely red in the face, being kissed. The moment of the kiss replayed over and over in his mind, and he ran, tears streaming from his eyes, to his room. There he sat crying for a long time. Grandfather realised now was the time to leave Tenchi alone. He would come back in a few days, to help him survive. He would bring the girls. And would point out how Ryoko would not want him to be like this, no matter what he did to her, such was her love. The pain, he knew, would never go entirely, but they would help ease it.
