AN- I have seen scanlationsup to the end of Vol.17. I have touched on some of that.

Sunako really didn't know what to say at that moment. Sure, she had dreams about him as he obviously did about her. But she didn't want the entanglement that a relationship would bring. What's worse was that they were roommates, if this didn't work out, things would be really weird. The whole roommate situation in general was awkward. It was no secret that Kyohei and the others wanted her to become more like a normal teenager to get free rent.
No, their job wasn't that simple, they had to make her act like a debutante. She had to be a walking, talking image of classical Japanese beauty. A Yamato Nadeshiko, with virtues like loyalty, domestic ability, wisdom, and humility. She hadn't made their job very easy either. However, in her mind she was there, if not close. Her loyalty was never in question, it damn well shouldn't be after this anyway. Her domestic ability, HA! Not even Auntie could do what she does. Wisdom and humility, that's not right to judge yourself on those. No, the problem was on how she appeared to people. She had the qualities, but she didn't look like it. Auntie was going to be the judge, and she wanted the wrapping to match the inside.
Kyohei, from day one, was honest about the rent deal. The others came clean later. He never pussy footed around about her appearance. He never said anything about her being ugly, though he had said her attitude was ugly. He had never tried to make her something she wasn't. When the `Blind Date' situation came up, the others tried to coach her in how to act. When Kyohei had to cover for the others in the coaching and take her to a romantic movie, they agreed to forget that and went to an arcade. Kyohei and Sunako had a great time, they were themselves.
The problem now is that Auntie thinks they are an item. So if things progress, she might be OK with it. Though Auntie doesn't think much of his pedigree and thinks she should have more dignified beaus. That hasn't stopped Auntie from trying to get Kyohei to sleep with her. The thing is, he won't force it and Sunako hasn't been interested. You have to give Auntie credit though for style, she always provides them with beautiful, romantic places for the deed. They have even `Shacked Up', without the physical intimacy, to get away from Auntie and her schemes.
So…What to tell Kyohei? Can they be friends? Well, just by the fact they have lived in the same house, (and apartment) and not killed each other, they could be friends. They were closer to each other than they were to the rest of the roommates. They would rather have a quiet simple life than the grand lifestyle that Auntie wants for her. Ranmaru and Takenaga grew up like that, so living `rough' is a novelty and they can't understand the `commoner' mentality they share. Yuki is happy wherever he is, but can't understand the darkness is Sunako and Kyohei's lives. So, in that house it's the two `Trust Fund Babies', the `Pollyanna' and sometimes Auntie versus Sunako and Kyohei, `The Depressing, Destitute Duo'. The groups would never see eye to eye exactly.
Could they be more? That would take a lot of thought. Sunako had worked very hard to put up this iron strong façade. The one time she allowed her heart to be broken was going to be the only time that would happen. Relationships cause too much pain, and not worth it. He had been breaking down the wall unbeknownst to them both over their time together. He also had a façade that he kept up, and only she had seen the softer side of him.
His `fans' only knew him as the handsome `Bad Boy' that lived in the boarding house. He put up that wall because he was too pretty to be taken seriously, so he toughened up. It was a good thing because of all the mobbing he had been subjected to. The challenges from wronged beaus, made him sad because he truly wasn't trying to steal anyone away. They came of their own accord. He was usually fighting over someone he didn't even remember speaking to, but someone's honor was in question and he had to go. Fighting in Sunako's name and for her honor had occurred, and in retrospect, I felt good after the fact. She didn't always thank him, but then, she was often right there in the fray.
“Kyohei,” Sunako stammered, “Let's talk about `Us'. I have a lot of baggage and so do you. I think we should just see where this takes us. I think we can friends. But, I don't know if I can offer you more than that right now. I'm not turning you down, but let's be friends first.”
