"Long time no see, Millie." Naobi moved across the room, her boots thudding against the wooden floor as she pulled a chair from another table and sat down in an empty space between Vash and Knives.
"You haven't changed a bit." Millie smiled. "Still as shady as ever."
"Still as perky as ever, same goes for you." Naobi looked around the table. "So, I don't get any introductions?"
"Oh!" Millie exclaimed. "I'm sorry. Naobi, this is my friend Meryl and Mr. Vash."
"The Stampede?" Naobi raised and eyebrow. "I expected you to be a little more…what's the word…incognito. I never expected to see you out drinking and…eating donuts." Her gaze turned to his brother who glared at her. She smiled. "What's your name, bright eyes?"
"Knives." He muttered before taking another swig of his drink.
"Millions Knives. I've heard your name before." Naobi smiled as he nearly choked on his drink. "Easy bright eyes, don't drown yourself."
"How did you come across it?" Vash mumbled nibbling aimlessly on yet another donut.
"Whispers in the wind. I'd over heard it from some gang or another."
"And you spider?" Knives glared, teeth grinding together.
"Naobi Slythe." She smiled pleasantly at Knives, antagonizing him to no end.
"You mean you are `Slythe the Scythe'?" Meryl gawked.
"I`ve been called that a time or two." Naobi chuckled to herself.
"You at one time had a bounty on your head bigger than mine." Vash added. "But then the real culprit came forward in one of the cases and the charge was dropped."
"And you became the most wanted again." Naobi smiled.
"How do you know her Millie?" Meryl asked.
"Well," Millie tapped her chin in thought. "I've known her for as long as I can remember. Naobi used to live with and old couple next door. When they died Naobi disappeared and I never saw her again."
"Until today." Naobi added.
Millie smiled and took another twig of her drink before getting up to get another.
"So what brings you here, Naobi?" Meryl asked, snitching a donut from Vash's pile.
"I here to pick up something that belongs to me." Naobi answered simply.
"What would that be, if you don't mind me asking?"
Naobi smirked and leaned back in her chair. "A child."
"WHAT?"
