(Trigun isn't mine and I never said it was. I'm back! Vash has another dream about Meryl after the bandits take over Kasted but not that close to when Wolfwood finds him. Hot!)
Part Ten: Aggressive
Vash lay back on his bed, staring at the ceiling and unsure if he could sleep. The town had been taken over by bandits, their leader claiming to be Vash The Stampede. In the three months since the bandits took control, Kasted had become a dangerous city with many people trying to flee everyday only to get hurt in the process. He hated it but couldn't do anything about it because he didn't have his gun or any bullets for his gun arm.
He couldn't even buy a gun if he wanted to because the bandits had commandeered all the weapons in town except for old ones that had been retired to being nothing more than wall decorations. Kasted was in bad shape and it hurt him to know that everyone was suffering. ~What do I do, Rem? ~ He thought. A knock at the door startled him from his daze but he didn't look at the door as he said, " Yes? "
" It's me, Ericks. Can I come in? " It was Lina.
" Yeah. Is something wrong? " Vash sat up as the feisty little red head came into the room. She sat down on the edge of Vash's bed and smiled, " Can we go into town tomorrow afternoon? "
Vash sighed, " You know it isn't safe in town. "
" But there isn't anything to eat in the house, " Lina stated.
Lina had pulled that line on him a few times before and he wasn't going to fall for it again. It was the excuse she used when she wanted to go shopping and she usually ended up getting nothing but junk food. Vash arched an eyebrow, " Do you mean there isn't in the house that you want to eat or do you really mean we're running low on food? "
" Well, we're out of carrots and onions so we can't make any soup. I think we need to get some crackers too, " Lina's grin became a little more devious, " And I think we're out of canned salmon spread and donuts. "
Vash's stomach growled in protest at the lack of his two favorite foods. There was just something about the pinkish-orange fish flavored spread he couldn't live without and it was a no-brainer how he felt about donuts. He frowned, " Okay… you win. We have to be really careful though and not attract attention. We're going to the general store and coming straight home… got that? "
Lina smiled broadly, " Thanks Ericks! " She said as she lunged at Vash and hugged him tightly. She kissed his forehead, " I don't care what everyone thinks about you… You're the greatest in my book! "
Lina let him go and bounded from the room. Once she was gone, Vash sighed and lay back down. He couldn't believe how easily swayed he was by her but he knew why… she looked and acted a lot like the short insurance agent. Lina has become his substitute for the dark-haired beauty in a lot of ways but there were some ways she couldn't replace her because she was too young.
Vash shut his eyes glad Lina was only twelve. She loved him but the love a child was so much different than the love of an adult. She didn't expect anything from him except to accompany her into town, keep her from being bored and make her laugh when she was unhappy. The girl was still naïve, unstained by the evil that lurked in the world and he hoped it would never touch her.
He relaxed a little bit and soon felt himself falling asleep…
**
" Excuse me, " Vash sat straight up from bed, the sound of the shorthaired insurance agent's voice drifting down the hall to his room. It sounded like she was at the front door. " Someone said I could find a man named Ericks here. "
" Um yeah. What do you want with him? " Lina said. " Do you know him? "
" I know him very well actually, " The agent replied.
" Then tell me something about him that only his closest friends would know, " Lina wasn't going to budge easily. The girl was wary of strangers since the bandits had besieged the town.
The insurance girl didn't miss a beat, " His body is covered in scars and his left arm is a prosthetic. "
" That's too vague. Tell me about his scars, " Lina said. " Tell me something substantial. "
The agent sighed, " There's a grate over the left side of his chest. "
Lina was quiet for a long time before saying, " Okay. You know him. You still haven't told me what you want with him. "
" I want to talk to him. I've been looking for him for almost two years now and I would really like to see him and make sure he's okay, " The insurance girl stated. There was a pause; " I am willing to pay you if you let me see him. "
Lina gasped, " That's enough to get the new boots I want. I have been saving every spare cecent to get them. "
Vash knew he was done for… Lina had been in love with the boots for nearly three months and did everything she could to save every extra coin so she could get enough to buy the boots. The shopkeeper at the shoe store had set a pair aside for Lina to give her a chance to get the money. The shopkeeper informed her that he would only hold onto the boots for one more week and then would sell them to the first person with enough money. " Now, can I see Ericks? " The insurance girl asked.
" Sure! His room is the last one at the end of the hall, " Lina chirped. " Oh wow! There's even enough here for me to get the groceries we need and Ericks a box of thirty donuts! "
Vash involuntarily drooled at the mere mention of donuts while he pulled on his pants. The last ones in the house were slightly stale but he would still eat them if he had to because he didn't waste donuts. He liked it when Lina bought the little confections because she always got as many flavors as she could. Perhaps having to answer the insurance agent's questions wouldn't be so bad if Lina was coming back with donuts.
Vash was snapped out of his reverie when he realized he hadn't heard the other insurance agent yet and Milly wasn't usually too quiet. She was the typical baby sister type, having to start talking as soon as someone else stopped speaking. This seemed very strange to Vash but he didn't have time to analyze it because his doorknob started to turn and he started to panic. He looked for a place to hide and jumped into his closet just as the shorthaired girl opened the door to his room.
" Vash? " She called. He could hear her footfalls on the wooden floor. He whimpered as they came closer to the closet and he slapped his hand over his mouth.
~Why is she here alone? Where's Milly? ~ Vash thought, recalling the shorthaired girl had a very short fuse and would probably hurt him seriously for making her think he was dead. He just wanted a quiet life… a normal one.
He would have let her know he was okay but he didn't want to jeopardize the quiet life he had found. He heard her come to the door of the closet, a bit of her white boots visible through the tiny crack at the bottom of the door. Vash wanted to disappear through the wall when he heard her turn the knob and the door creak open. She smiled when she saw him trying to hide behind the rack of clothes he had taken shelter behind.
" Vash The Stampede, " She said with a sly smile. She parted the clothes on the rack, " You come out of this closet right now. "
Vash stepped out, " Um, long time no see… insurance girl, " He said quietly as he scanned his other options for escape. She didn't look very happy and he was certain she still had her derringers under her cape.
" You still don't know my name? " She arched one of her black eyebrows as she moved towards the door she had come through to get into the room. " That's okay I guess, " She sighed as she shut and locked the door.
Vash felt his chance for escape vanish as she wedged the chair from his desk under the knob. He cleared his throat and pointed at it lamely, " Why are you doing that? "
" I'm not letting you out of the room until I am done with you, Vash. Do you know how worried I was about you? " She said as she turned to face him. She had her scary look on and he knew he was in trouble.
" You aren't going to kill me, are you? " Vash backed up. " I can explain… really. "
The insurance girl started to untie the ties that held her cape on. She took off the mantle and placed it on the desk, " You know I wouldn't want to do that. "
" Then why are you here? " Vash said before falling backwards onto the bed. The insurance girl was still walking towards him… and removing her blouse. He swallowed hard as she pulled the garment loose from her skirt before slipping it off slowly and letting it fall on the floor. His eyes fixed on her purple lace bra but he quickly tore them away, afraid she would become offended that he was staring at her in such a way.
" You can look, Vash. Stare at them all you want, " She said as her hands went to the back of her skirt. She unzipped it and slid it down her hips slowly.
" In-In-insurance g-g-girl… " Vash stammered as he shut his eyes. His body had reacted the instant he heard the zipper go down but he was trying to fight it. He didn't want to look because he knew if her panties matched her bra and her stockings he would be a goner. Women that wore matching bra and panty sets turned him on…
(Flashback)
Wolfwood stared at the door after Meryl had slammed it, " Damn… what did she have to go and do that for? Things were just getting good. "
Vash nodded, " She's really uptight. She needs to lighten up some. "
Wolfwood grinned as he poured himself another glass of whisky, " No shit. She could take some lessons from Milly. Damn, did you see her underwear? "
Vash chuckled as he downed the rest of his glass of whisky, " Uh-huh. "
Wolfwood poured Vash another glass, " Do you think women really know how damn sexy it is when they match their bras and their panties? "
Vash took a drink and shook his head as he swallowed, " No… I don't think so. I think they just do it so they match but it's always been one of my favorite things about them. Talk about putting a match to alcohol… "
Wolfwood had started to light a cigarette but stopped, " Isn't that something? "
" What's that? " Vash replied before taking another drink.
" It's amazing the things we have in common, Vash The Stampede, " Wolfwood picked up his glass. " Let's have a toast, my friend. "
" To what? " Vash picked up his glass.
" To beautiful girls in beautiful underwear, " Wolfwood smirked. His grin became a little more mischievous, " And to getting said beautiful girls out of said beautiful underwear! "
Vash laughed as he clinked glasses with the priest, " Exactly! "
(End of flashback)
The insurance girl finished taking off her skirt and stepped out if it, the sound of the cloth hitting the floor sending a shiver though Vash. Her hose her the same shade of purple as her bra and underwear. She smiled, " It's amazing what men will admit to when they are drunk. "
Vash pushed himself up on his elbows, " YOU heard that? "
The insurance girl nodded slowly, " I heard almost everything. You two were so loud, I was surprised that anyone in the hotel got any sleep that night. "
Vash swallowed hard again as she stopped at the foot of the bed, " Now… what was the rest of that toast? "
" Come on, " Vash tried to keep his voice steady. He forgot what he was going to say next when the insurance girl reached behind her back and her bra became slack. She slid it down her arms and let it fall on Vash's bare feet.
" Were you going to say something? " She said as she mounted the foot of the bed and crawled up along side of Vash. All he could do was watch as she leaned in closer to him, her nipples grazing his chest as she leaned over him to take his lips in hers…
**
" Ericks! " Lina shouted as she hit him over the head with a pillow. " Would wake up already? "
Vash opened his eyes, sitting straight up and scaring Lina because he nearly hit her head with his. He looked around the room, blinking. " What? What's going on? "
Lina rolled her eyes, " You promised you'd take me shopping today, remember? "
Vash had to think for a moment before he could recall what he had said to the girl the night before. He nodded, " Oh yeah. I was having a dream… "
" It must have been pretty good to make you forget that you need donuts. Come on; get cleaned up so we can go. If we go now, we won't have to worry about the bandits because they're probably sleeping off their drinking from last night, " Lina tossed the pillow at Vash. " I'll be in the kitchen "
" Yeah… okay, " Vash muttered and got out of bed as soon as Lina was gone.
