“I came looking for you.”

“The hospital called and told me. What’s the matter?”
“I won’t go back!”

She shook her head and sank down with her knees to her chest. He walked over to her.
“Don’t!”
“I won’t hurt you, I promise.”
She still shook her head. “I can’t.”
“But why not?”
“How can you trust me? I don’t even know who I am.”
“Don’t have someone looking for you?”
“I don’t know.”
“What?”
“I don’t know anything about myself!”
“Oh…”
“Why do you care about me so much?”
“I guess because I have to.”
“But why?”
“I can’t leave you behind.”
“You don’t even understand me.”
“Yes, I do.”

“Then let me.”
She looked up at him. “How?”
“I’ll stay with you.”
“But…”
“I can’t leave you alone. You’ll have to come with me. I’ll even find you somewhere safe to stay until you get your memories back.”
“Until I get my memories back?”
He nodded. “But that’s only if you trust me.”
She still stared at him. “You sure about that?”
“Yes.”
“But you don’t know me.”
“I know.”
“But I don’t even know who you are.”
The man smiled at her. “Call me Vash. And what should I call you?”
“Reiko… I guess.”
“Okay then, Reiko it is.”
