Vash couldn't get any sleep, so he decided to go outside. Milly was still suffering from the loss of Wolfwood. Everyone was, but Vash felt horrible.
I killed legato, how could I break my promise to Rem? How could I? In a way I feel like I killed Nick also. Vash allowed a small smile to come to his face he couldn't help, but think that if Nick had heard him say that he would have punched him right in the face, probably yelling about how I can't save everyone.

"You know you can't, don't you?" Vash hurled his body around as fast as it could go, but found nothing. I just heard him as if he was standing right there, but he is dead isn't he? "Stop thinking so damn much, I can't understand how you can get up every morning." the disembodied voice of Nick called out to him.

Maybe I am going nuts. The insurance girls do look at me as if I'll explode any second now. Except her I only see sorrow in her eyes.
" Vash you know she loves you." " Damn it, it can't be true you were killed stop it, please stop it!" Vash said out loud. " Vash when I died I didn't want to leave you guys. I wanted to live with you guys in paradise, so I will never leave really, I am here. Damn it I don't understand it myself, but I guess the big guy heard me." It's a lie. It can't be true thats impossible. Nothing like that can happen. I'm going insane. "I'm cracking up." he said to the air. "Vash?" Meryl's voice came from the front door.

"Are you ok? What are you talking about, cracking up you have been like that for a long time." Meryl tried to put the smile on that was meant to go with the words. Vash took the this time to talk to Meryl it seemed Nick's voice wouldn't speak as long as he wasn't alone. "Meryl can I ask you a question?" The look of perfect patience swept Meryl's face as soon as he mentioned it. "I..I Vash I understand how you must feel, but if you didn't shoot Legato he would have killed us or you." It seemed Meryl waited for an argument, but she didnt recieve one.

She is right, but so is Rem? Which person is right. It can't be both I just... I just can't see another way I could have stopped him. What should I do? I am a killer. I am something I hate so much. "Meryl I ....I wanted to know if it was right not if it was the only thing I could do." Vash's pause came unnoticed to Meryl, but his question put her into a deep thought as he was before. "Vash it is never right many things in this world are, but I think that what you need to do is more important sometimes and that is why humans have reached the place that they are at now." Her eyes spoke to him telling him that she gave him her forgiveness. That it was alright.

Vash sighed, turning his head to the stars it was a beautiful night out he told himself. "Thanks meryl, but I would like to be alone now."
" O..., ok well see you in the morning, get some sleep." Her eyes spoke their true meaning. Their meaning was 'Vash pull yourself together I need you'
As he watched her enter the apartment Wolfwood's voice spoke as if it was in Vash's head " Dumbass, she is trying to help, everyone is. Stop crying and at least act like your some big outlaw." If your here to stay Nick I don't mind just leave me alone. No one understands no one. My whole reason, my one rule was never to kill. The only thing that's stopping me from leaving Milly and Meryl is that I would hurt them again.

I can't do that. " Or maybe it is because you love her?"
