I Know I Promised Emmett's POV This Chapter But I'm not finished With Rosalie Just Yet.
Alice is home and she is changing in to her shopping clothes. It amazes me that she has an outfit for every outing she has. There's the park outfit, the grocery store outfit, the dentist out fit and the infamous shopping outfit. I on the other hand am lucky to have any outfit at all. Kaylen is sitting with Jasper and I'm in one of the dressing rooms trying on jeans.
“Hurry up! It's almost closing time Rosalie.” Quickly I redress and walk out.
“These are the ones that fit.” I hand her nine pair of jeans, twelve shirts, four skirts, and five dresses all with shoes.
“Good, now you and Jasper can go get in the car I can pay for these.” Grabbing Kaylen's diaper bag we make our way out to the car. Jasper buckles Kaylen in first and I sit to her left. I reach over and touch her cheek. She opens her mouth like I'm about to feed her. I smile and let her take her finger in my hand. Her brow furrows when keep her from putting it in her mouth. Her face reddens and I quickly put a pacifier in her mouth. Sucking gently she closes her eyes and furrows her eyebrows.
“You're so adorable Kaylen.” Jasper looks in the mirror at with, his face saddened.
“I don't want to upset you even more, but can you tell me anything about my nephew?” I look up from Kaylen and bit my lip.
“Well he had our hair, although it was curly and always tangled. Green eyes think he got those from mom.” Alice opens the door and tosses me some of the bags.
“We only have two good hours before we have to go to Emmett's.” Nodding I slide my finger into Kaylen's hand. She tugs on it and the pacifier stops. Her eyes look up at me and I tilt my head to the side. Her face widens in a smile and the pacifier falls out her mouth. Two deep dimples fill her check as she squeals. Her little arms flail and Alice turns around. I play with her and it seems all my worries are pushed aside. This little girl is my focus, I don't want her to see the same fate as my some had, she's to pretty.
“Wow, Rosalie you look amazing. Aro did an amazing job on your hair. I never knew it was so golden blonde.” I look at my reflection in the mirror and gasp. The simple red dress I'm wearing is beautiful. Alice decides that I'm too tall for heels, well for tonight anyway. My hair is pulled up in a bunch of curls and my make-up is simple.
`Thank you Alice I love it, thank you so much for everything. Has Kaylen eaten? I think I should go feed her.”
“No, Jasper has her and she is fine. Besides you're all dolled up, we don't want to ruin that.”
“I though we were just going to his house?”
“That's right, but we are also going out, were just going to Emmett's so he can change Kaylen and get her seat.”
“So where are we going exactly.”
“A restaurant we like to call Casa de la Cullen.” I know the name of that restaurant; it's where I meet Alice for the first time. I also remember how expensive it was.
“I don't mean to be a prude but I can't afford it. I have only been there once and that was when I meet you for the first time.” She puts a finger to her lips in a thinking posture.
“Well I suppose I could ask my brother to foot your bill, I'm sure he won't mind. I mean he feed Kaylen the peas off his plate.” I panic and look down at her. The black dress she's wearing clings to her legs. Her hair pulled up in a bun enhancing her face.
“No, that's not necessary, I'm sure I have something in my accounts……if there weren't canceled by my father months ago.”
“Then is settled, Emmett will pay or he will have to deal with me later.” For her to be so small she can be a little pushy. Jasper walks in with a pair of black slacks and a button up white shirt. His tie is undone and Alice and I both move to fix it.
“No, Alice that's your job now. Go ahead.” She looks at me questionably and fixes it. Kaylen grips his shirt with a slobbery hand and I reach for her. Putting her in my arms she looks up at me. Her little yellow all over looks like it's constricting her. I walk around the room and rock her slowly. Her eyes droop close and I grab a blanket laying her on my shoulder.
“Ready to go?” nodding to whoever asked I leave the room and out to the car. Holding the door open for me I slide in careful not to hurt Kaylen's head. Her hand rests under my neck and every so often it will make a fist.
Arriving at Emmett's place I nearly lose eye sight when I see the house. It has a country homey feel to it although it's in the middle of the suburbs. Using one hand I open my own door and slide out. Kaylen didn't sleep long and for some reason she's excited. She's bouncing and moving in my arms and it really want to get inside before I drop her. Alice notices and grins.
“She knows her home. Don't ask how but it's been that way since she was born. When ever we pull in the driveway she goes crazy. It's rather cute, although she seems calmer in your arms. With either of us we have to hold her still before she hurts herself. Emmett just says she misses him.” We walk to the door and I admire the mass of curls on Kaylen's head than the door. It opens and all I smell is baby formula with a hint of something spicy and sweet.
“Why is she holding her, I though we went through this Alice, Jasper control her. She doesn't know when to stop.” Emmett stands in front of me and holds out his arms. Reaching for Kaylen his eyes focus on her, his eyes glazed over with a look only a father would have. His blue shirt clings to his massive chest as the pants do the same, just like last night. He invites us in and I marvel at the high raised ceilings. Everything is so inviting, yet I feel like an outcast. I follow Alice to the kitchen and she avoids my glare.
“What was that about?” I cross my arms over my chest and lean against the counter. All around my I see pictures of Kaylen and Emmett. Alice stands there looking at her feet.
“He doesn't like it when other women hold Kaylen; he thinks they are trying to get to him.”
“That's what he thought of me, I'll go fix it, tell him I'm not interested.” Alice quickly moves in front of me. “Move Alice, it will happen either way.” I brush past her and up to where I hear voices. I walk in a large pink room and see Emmett standing over a changing table.
“Emmett?” He turns halfway and looks back to Kaylen. “I'm not coming on to you. Alice explained it. I'm not looking for a relationship or anything right now. So sorry if holding Kaylen was wrong. I didn't know.”
“Is that supposed to convince me?” Anger flashes over my eyes for a split second. I walk a little closer until I'm behind him.
“I don't care. Whether you believe me or not.” I walk out the room angrier than when I went in.
“How did it go?” I look up to see Jasper standing there.
“He doesn't believe me, so that's his problem.” Walking down the stairs I see Edward and Bella walk in, her green dress swaying against Edward's legs.
“You look really good Rose.” She pulls me in a tight hug whispering reassurances in my ear.
“No, you an Alice look better.” Loud thunderous footsteps move down the wooden floor and pause behind me.
“Are we going to go or not? I mean I could be watching the game.” I look at Kaylen how has been changed in to a soft pink dress, her hair sticking up in odd places as she rests against Emmett's shoulder. Absentmindedly I reach over and fix the strands. Hayden was the same way. Feeling my hand her eyes shift over to me and that same toothless smile takes over. She squirming starts back up, but he has a secure hold on her so she won't fall.
“Whoa, Kay, your inside, no needs to try to fly away.” I rub her cheek and she nearly has my finger before Emmett clears his throat, rather rudely.
“If I didn't want you to hold her, then why would I want you to touch her?” Stepping away I nod in understanding.
“Sorry, just trying to help.”
“Then don't help, I can do it myself.”
“Well let's go before our table gets taken, Edward thank you for covering Rosalie's bill.” I look to Edward and he gives me a small grin mouthing `not a problem.'
Emmett's POV
The restaurant is slightly packed, but I know we already have a table. Leave that to Alice, and speaking of Alice, I have to have a word with her about this Rosalie character. She can seem to take a hint; I'm not interested in her. `She said she wasn't interested, but they all they say that.' I'm snapped out of my internal conversation. As a CIA operative, I have lost of those. Kaylen squirms in my arms her soft mews getting louder as we both realize the only seat open is next to Rosalie. I have to admit she is attractive, but I wont make the same mistake twice. Alice whispers in her ear then takes Jasper's hand and drags him to the dance floor as the music get slower. Rosalie has a smile on her face as she watches them dance.
Her hair is hiding her eyes from me but I know she's watching me.
“Why don't you believe me? I told you I wasn't interested, and you think I lied. I just got out of a relationship less than forty-eight hours ago and you think I want o get straight into another. AND you must really be self absorbed if you think I'm going to use Kaylen to get closer to you. I don't know what kind of women you are used to but I'm not like them.”
If it wasn't for her attitude with me I might consider getting to know her, but like I said she isn't my type. Standing she walks to the bar with Bella. I'm left at the table with Kaylen and her fussing. Sighing deeply I rub her back and put a bottle in her mouth.
“You know Emmett, Rosalie is a nice girl.” Edward sets a glass in front of me and smiles at his niece.
“I'm not interested in anyone right now, but thanks for the info. I'll make sure to log it in my memory.”
