Jacob/Rosalie

It was ridiculous, this longing I felt for something… I could sense her everywhere and knowing what she was. The thought made me shudder.
~~
“Stupid, stupid, stupid. This is so fucking stupid!” Jacob stomped away from his house, slamming his first into a sequoia tree, leaving a crumbling dent in the heavy trunk.
He paced back and forth outside of the little red house, the rain coming down in a steady trickle. The sky would open up fully any second now, but it didn’t matter. He sure had made a mess of a lot of things. He focused on his breathing, trying very hard not to shred one of his last pairs of pants in a moment of anger. He was getting much better at controlling his emotional phasing, he almost never had a mishap anymore. It was becoming increasingly harder to hold it together however. Everywhere he went the scent of Vampire lingered. That was the trouble with familiarity with vampires - the stench. His stomach knotted as he thought it - no stench was the wrong word for her scent. Her scent was, spicy, tangy, something sugar and spice, with a touch of cold hearted bitch. Jacob shook off another round of tremors and tried to think of anything else but her.
“Haven’t you done enough damage for one lifetime?” He asked himself as he paced back and forth.
“Jacob?” he turned to see Billy in his wheelchair on the porch. Jake hadn’t even heard him come out - he needed to get it together, if his old man could sneak up on him just about anything could.
“Yea dad?” he asked.
“Oh, Bella just called – she wants you to get on up to the Cullen’s. She said she feels like you’re avoiding her.”
Avoiding them is more like it. Jacob thought with disdain. Tell her she can visit whenever she wants.” Jacob called back.
“I thought you were getting along with the Cullen’s. Your pack is there constantly. And even Sam’s coming around. Who can resist Reneseme after all?” Billy chuckled.
“Yea, the kid’s great.” The venom in Jake’s voice was not directed at the half-vampire human hybrid.
“Jake. Bella made a choice. It’s time you get over that.” Billy said sternly.
“I am over it dad. It’s just…” Jake couldn’t tell him. Not that. Billy would accept the truce, maybe even the friendship with the vampires, but he would never accept.. “It’s nothing.” Jake sighed. “I’ll head over there now.”
Jacob stripped out of his clothes, tying his pants to his leg and phasing into his wolf form. The freedom was unexplainable to him. He stretched his wolf muscles and darted toward Forks.
~
Hey Jake! Seth was phased too, running near Charlie’s if my mind was right, and it often was.
Hey Seth. What are you doing? I asked him via our mind thought translations. It was one of the coolest things about being a wolf – this tele-connection. It was also one of the most annoying, especially when I didn’t want anyone in my head to read my most embarrassing thoughts.
Just got back from the Cullen’s. Edward and Jasper were having a battle royal. It was pretty fun – even if Jazz lost and I owe Bella twenty bucks.
I could tell he was smiling as he thought this and admittedly the scene bemused me. I smiled imagining Edward reading ahead to Jaspers moves and Jazz elevating Edwards desire to win with his freak mood control.
Yea it was great. Seth continued. Rose and bells were next but Leah wanted me to get home by dinner. He sounded begrudging.
Hmm maybe I’ll make it in time to see the blonde get her ass handed to her.
Well, even if you miss it I think the winner plays Emmett.
That stopped me up short. Big, burly, brotherly Emmett.
Hey, you okay?
I erased the flashes of Emmett from my mind and focused on the trees around me.
Yea, I’ll see you later Seth.
I phased before he could hear, or see, further. I threw on my sweat pants and jogged up the Cullen’s drive. The stench was overpowering and my eyes watered. I could define each vampire’s smile. I had never, in a million years, thought I would recognize an individual vampires smell – let alone appreciate one.
I heard the snap of a large branch that preceded the clapping. I smirked – the Cullen’s fights were entertaining. They never let the wolves play though – too afraid we’d actually kill them. I shrugged at this idea.
I went around the corner of the house to see a new match taking place. Emmett was poise against Bella – so she’d won.
They didn’t even turn to identify the smell, they knew it was me and accepted it as if I was one of their own.
“Hey Jake.” Alice said, bouncing toward me.
“Hey Alice.” I nodded toward the makeshift arena. “Who’s winning then?”
“Well Bella’s gone three rounds – but her beating Edward doesn’t count because he’s afraid to fight her.” Alice said with a smirk.
“I’m not afraid.” Edward mumbled, knowing we could all here him. “She’s my wife.”
“I attack Jazz all the time.” Alice called back.
“Yea, and she usually wins.” Jasper agreed.
Jasper still didn’t stand too close to me – I wondered if he was afraid he’d eat me. I saw Edward nod almost imperceptibly but couldn’t be positive it was towards me.
Edward snarled as Emmett got a hit on Bella – the whole exchange was so quick I almost missed it.
“Tag-teaming is cheating Edward.” Rosalie said, her voice carrying to me.
“Jake!” The little voice surprised me, I hadn’t even been paying attention to where Nessie was. She also hardly ever spoke out loud, her voice was defined and it belied her physical appearance.
“Hey Nessie. How are ya baby girl?”
She bounced toward me and reached out her hand, using her strange ability to communicate via telepathic touch. I leaned into her touch and saw images of the sparring that had been taking place throughout the morning. One image in particular made me smile – Edward getting tossed to the ground by Bella. I laughed easily and Nessie smiled up at me. I noticed Edward look away and roll his eyes.
“Looks like you had a fun morning.” I said, smiling at the little one.
Nessie was probably one of the most adorable kids ever, even if she was half-leech.
“Jake, why don’t you ever play?” Nessie spoke.
“Jake can’t play.” Edward answered for me.
Nessie asked me “why” with her mind. “Daddy’s afraid I’ll beat him.” I said with a smug smile.
“Daddy would just hate for something bad to happen to Uncle Jakey.” Edward’s tone was sarcastic, and I was sure Nessie picked up on it. “It would upset mommy.”
I sniggered, knowing that Bella and I were not meant to be, despite my protests early on in our relationship; but I liked to think that my death would still make her sad. We were best friends after all.
“Daddy’s just a pu-“ I resisted the urge to call him a pussy in front of his daughter but he heard me in his head. “scaredy cat.” I amended.
Edward growled. “You wanna go mutt? Right here. Right now.” He crouched low, preparing for a fight.
I laughed humorlessly. This was just the angry venting I was looking for. “Here Alice.” I said handing her Nessie. “Should I kick you’re a- butt as a human? Or shift.”
“You better shift dog or you aren’t making it out alive.” He threatened.
“Perfect.” I discarded my pants and phased.
I loved feeling my fur, and my muscles on four legs. Being a wolf was a lot more calming, even if it meant I could smell her better. Her face filled my vision, her flowing hair, laugh tinkling like bells.
Edward keyed in to this and lifted his eyebrow slightly. I shook my head slightly, warning him that he better forget what I just thought.
I positioned myself for a fight. The fight that had been taking place (Bella and Emmett were still at it) stopped to shift attention to the new battle brewing.
“Um, boys I don’t know that this is the best idea. There are certain dangers involved here.” Carlisle spoke up, using his stern fatherly voice.
“We know what we’re doing.” Edward said smirking.
“I can’t believe you two are still fighting.” Bella said exasperated.
“Don’t worry Bella honey, we’re not fighting over you this time.”
I scoffed, Yea, this time I’m just going to prove I can beat him at something.
Edward laughed out loud, “He says he’s just going to prove he can win.”
A loose translation but it worked. I thought about all kinds of different attack methods, I know the way to trick Edward was to out think him – hard to do when he could think your thoughts just as efficiently as you. I dodged right and so did he; left and he was already there. I growled. I hated fighting cheaters.
“Like you don’t do this when you fight your own pack.” He said smugly.
No we’re too hotheaded to think of anything but kicking the others ass. I thought.
“Well it’s a good thing we almost like each other.” He said.
Guess so. I darted straight for him, the two of us crashing head first into each other. He grabbed me by the neck and twisted, throwing me off him but I got a bite in first, barely breaking through his stone skin. He looked stunned.
“Nice bite mutt.”
Thanks leech. Kind of rough with the neck twist; I think you pulled a muscle.
“Sorry about that.”
I shrugged. We charged again. This time I dodged under him, nipping at his legs as he flipped us in the air. I landed on my back, confused but none the worse for the ware.
“You’re getting better at making me misread you.” He admitted.
It’s all about strategy and biding my time.
“Guess so. Only took a few years.”
Ouch.
“Too soon?”
Asshole.
Edward smirked, coming in for a finishing attack. He pinned me to the ground, his venomous teeth inches from my neck. “Give?”
For now. He jumped off me and stood up, holding out his hand to signal the end of the battle.
“Oh right, you can’t shake hands.” I was going to wipe that smirk off his face.
“Well, I say that was a productive morning.” Carlisle said; he was clearly glad that the battle that could have ended in tragedy was finally over.
I phased back and threw on my pants. “Nice little spar.” I said shaking Edward’s hand.
He laughed and nodded. “Maybe someday we’ll fight for real.”
“Maybe.”
I would never admit it out loud but I loved this family. Quirky Alice, distant Jasper, Emmett the bear, obviously Bella was my best friend, the caring doctor and his too kind wife, and even Edward a good friend. Nessie with her loveable childlike sense of wonder. And Rosalie. I sighed looking over the clearing to her. She was tying her hair up, preparing to go a round against Emmett. He smiled, loving the idea that his wife could beat him and loving trying to stop her.
She looked at me shyly and turned back to Emmett. I sighed out loud, Edward was already clued in to my horrible thoughts but it was too late.
As he read more into what I was thinking his smile faded. He looked at Rosalie and back to me. “Can I speak to you for a second?” he said through clenched teeth.
“I don’t think I have a choice.” I said. “You know you really shouldn’t listen in to people’s heads.”
“Now.”
We ran far away from the family, where no one could hear us with their super hearing powers. When we were sure we were out of danger of being overheard he glared at me.
“What are you thinking about Rosalie?” he blurted.
“Nothing.” I said, knowing we’d just have to hash it out here anyway, but not ready to make that commitment. I started singing the national anthem in my head to distract myself. When that started failing I recited Pythagorean Theorem.
“Distracting yourself won’t work. Why are you making goo-goo thoughts at my sister?”
“I don’t know! I don’t know any more than you do Edward! I just feel this connection for her. This passion. I can’t explain what happened. I can’t fix it. I don’t know. All we can do is forget it ever happened.”
Edward paused, trying to read more into my thoughts, a small flash of Rosalie’s sculpted body flashed in my head. I locked the thought away with all my other sins. He found the key.
“What do you mean forget it ever happened?”
I couldn’t stop the flashback in my head, it unraveled itself like a loose sweater thread. The horror struck me as I realized I didn’t want to block her out any more… I didn’t want to forget.
Flashback:
The day had been like any other, it was a rainy dismal day in the Olympic peninsula. We were all inside, challenging each other to battles of wits, strength, and anything else to keep our endless lives entertained. Hanging out with the Cullen’s had become like sitting in my own living room. We were family. I felt a connection to the blood-suckers, and I liked to think they felt one for me too. We were all connected in this fucked up world of mythical creatures. We could be honest with each other and that was an amazing feeling. Sure I had my whole pack, but it was just so different with the Cullen’s. It was confusing even to me, and I was living it, but I needed them somehow. Maybe it was Bella. She had connected us all to form this large, unified, family. I smiled at my immortal family, Edward and Alice were playing chess, one of their favorite pastimes, while Nessie and Bella colored (something so human I had to laugh), Jazz and Emmett were going best two out of three on some racing game for the PS3. Esme and Carlisle were hunting upstate. And Rosalie… Rosalie was sitting, watching Nessie like she’d give up her own life to have a child of her own. I sighed, looking at her lovely features.
She was so beautiful. Her blonde hair flowed down her shoulders with a curly twist at the end, which she played with endlessly. I knew for a fact that they didn’t have to move to be comfortable but she was always keeping busy. Maybe it was a habit she’d developed living around people so long. Or maybe her vanity from life was just so strong it carried into vampirism.
“I’m starving.” I said, watching Emmett race to the finish, finally beating Jasper two for three.
“Rematch.” Jazz said immediately. “Best out of five.”
“You’re on.” Emmett said, hunching over his control like any true gamer intent on winning.
“No one cares about your need for Alpo.” Rosalie sniggered from her spot on the chair across from me.
“Why don’t you go back to the beach house Barbie?” my sarcasm had been perfected over the past few bitter years.
“Funny. Hey Bella, while you’re up can you let the dog out?” she smirked.
Bella, who had gotten up for who knows what reason, looked at us with an annoyed roll of the eyes. “Guys come on. Doesn’t the banter get old?”
“No.” we answered in unison, smiling despite ourselves.
Bella rolled her eyes and headed to the kitchen.
“Hey Bells, you getting food?”
“I’m getting something for Nessie to drink.” She amended.
“Can you grab me a hot dog or two?”
“You’re going to eat us out of house and home, you know that?” she asked.
“I’m the only one who does eat here.”
“We buy food solely for your pack. Don’t you guys have your own homes?” Bella called
“Or did they kick you out of the pound?” Rosalie asked.
“You wanna start something blondie?” I asked, sitting on the edge of the chair.
“If by start you mean finish.” She glared.
“You’re gonna get hit Barbie.”
“You’d hit a lady.” She said in mock surprise.
“You’re no lady, blood-sucker.”
“Can you two please take this outside?” Bella asked, handing a cup of blood to Nessie.
Rosalie stood up and walked outside. I followed her, and I hate to use the pun, but like a puppy. We ran to the clearing, where we all usually played baseball.
“So mutt you ready to have it out?” she asked. She dusted off her jeans and straightened her tank top.
I tried not to watch the way her top exposed the upper valley of her breasts as she tossed her hair back behind her. I ignored the way her neck arched, long and lean as she pretended to stretch out her muscles as though she could get injured if she didn’t.
I started to step out of my clothes. It was a rare day that I was wearing a shirt, as I lifted it over my head I thought I saw her attention focus on my muscled chest, but it could have been wishful thinking.
“What are you doing?” she asked, her voice almost faltering.
“I’m not going to ruin my clothes when I shift.” I said, “Use your brain blondie. If you can find it.” I smirked.
“We’re not fighting with you in wolf form.” She said.
“Why not?” I asked, “It’s not exactly a fair fight if you get to use your abilities and I don’t get to use mine.” I said.
She sneered. “Jake, it won’t be a fair fight no matter what you do. I’m just better than you puppy.” I glared at her.
“Alright princess. I’m gonna take you down a notch.” I said, charging at her while I was still human. Yea, it was stupid.
She pinned me to the ground before I could blink. My abilities were still really enhanced as a human, but not good enough for her vampire strength and speed. I could beat a Mike Newton, not a Rosalie Hale.
“Take me down a notch are you?” she asked, faking a sympathetic smile. “Nice try.”
She tried to stand up but I managed to knock her legs out from under her; a feat that was nearly impossible to accomplish against a vampire. I pinned her to the ground, my face above hers, I was straddling her but knew she could get out of it if she tried. She was stronger than me. The wind was still knocked out of me from her assault previously – or at least that’s what I told myself as I stared into her round golden eyes.
“I’d say that about evens us up.” I smirked.
Her face was almost frightened. She looked up at me as though she didn’t know what to make of something inside her. I had a feeling I had the same thoughts. I debated briefly what I was about to do but the decision was made for me by my young hormonal body.
I leaned down slowly, bringing my lips toward Rosalie Hale’s. As our lips met I felt queasy. Her scent tinged my nose, and made me want to run away and hold her close at the same time. I pulled my head away and gauged her reaction – she looked as horrified as I felt.
“I don’t know what came over me.” I started, trying to get off her. My body had a hard time cooperating.
I felt her ice cold hand against my 108 degree body, the charge was electrifying. I shuddered. She brought my face back to hers, our lips connecting again, this time with passion. I closed my eyes, feeling her cold lips move with mine. They were somehow so soft. It was almost like kissing Bella when she was human; but this was better somehow. More passionate. More real. Less one-sided.
I reached up to cup her face, entangling my hand in her hair as the kiss deepened. I felt her rub herself against me, and I felt my body respond. She flipped us over, her stone body on mine. She attacked my lips again and the anger and hostility we always spouted to each other turned into raging kisses and touches.
The passion heated as our clothes were discarded. I flipped back over, holding her down to the ground. “You’re going to let me take over bitch.” My voice was filled with lust.
“I am not your bitch.” She said, wrapping her legs around me.
“I’m an alpha. I’m going to show you how you obey orders.”
“Good luck making me submit to you.” Her voice was too clouded with desire for her words to mean much, but I accepted the challenge.
I flipped her body over, feeling the curvature of her exposed back. I prepared to enter her the way any shape shifting wolf would, in true wolf style. She’d be my bitch. As I entered her she stopped arguing. She arched her body back toward me. I held back my strength, even though I knew she could take it. I slid in and out of her, feeling her body clashing with mine was like feeling heaven mix with hell. It was literally hot and cold. Fire and ice. I felt all the anger and desire and longing I kept bottled within me and I used it; channeled it into our coupling. Who am I kidding, trying to sound all poetic: I fucked her brains out.
When we finished I sank beside her, trying not to think about what a horrible mistake we’d just made. She leaned, straddling over me and she smirked devilishly. “Okay, so you got me that time. But you’re not done yet are you pup? I don’t get tired.”
End flashback.
I stared at Edward, staring at me as I relived the memory. He now knew everything. Something’s you just shouldn’t know.
“I never meant to cause any problems.” I said lamely, coming up with excuses for my own behavior. “We just lost control.”
Edward didn’t say anything. He could see that I felt remorse; that this was hard and awkward to deal with. I waited for him to try and hit me, or to run away from me or something.
“You don’t love her.” He stated.
“I mean she’s hot, but just about anyone would think that.” I said
“You should tell Emmett.” He said, always trying to be the honest wholesome one. I played the role of temptation, a role I was getting used to.
“Emmett is like a brother to me.” I choked out. “I couldn’t do that to him.”
“I’m not going to tell him, because I don’t think it’s my responsibility to see the look on his face. It’s yours.”
That hurt more than if he had hit me. I nodded slightly to show I had listened and he darted back off toward the house. I followed him not bothering to phase even though it would take twice as long to get back on human legs.
I took the time to try and clear my head. How was I going to break Emmett’s heart? I’d have to make sure he didn’t blame Rosalie. Maybe I could make it sound like I was the bad guy? Like I forced her. That could work. I sighed, this was not going to be easy.
I dashed into the backyard; the activities had apparently broken up. I heard arguing from upstairs. Edward was standing by the patio entrance. He held his hand up to me to be quiet.
“Rosalie, I’m just struggling to see what happened here? I mean, Jacob?” it was Emmett’s voice and my heart plummeted. Emmett was such a good guy. Joyful and loving. And him and Rose really were perfect for each other.
“I have to fix this.” I said, charging up the stairs. “Emmett, it’s my fault!” I said, bursting in to their room.
“Jacob go away.” Rosalie said.
“No. Rosalie, let me fix this.” I gritted my teeth, biting out my words.
“Jake. Go. Away.” She didn’t hold any playfulness in her bickering words this time. I really hoped we could dig out of this mistake.
“Just let me explain. I can fix this.”
Emmett looked at me with confusion. “Fix what exactly Jake?”
“Um,” I stalled. “What were you guys talking about?”
“Rosalie informed me that you two had an encounter in the meadow.” Emmett said with nonchalance.
“Yea, that. It was my fault. Rosalie had nothing to do with it. Er.” I wasn’t very good at lying.
“I get it dude.” Emmett said, “You’re pissed ‘cased you don’t have a girl, and Rosalie’s adventurous. I mean she’s been with the same amazing lover for almost eighty years; but sometimes you got to mix it up. Do you remember Rose when we went to New Zealand?”
“The lion tamers!” she gushed.
“Yea! And the circus gymnast!” Emmett said excitedly.
I stared at the two of them, clearly reminiscing about some previous sexual conquest that I didn’t understand; nor did I really want to consider.
Emmett turned to look at me. “Jake, it’s cool. We like to spice it up. I’m not mad or anything. It’s just usually we pick more anonymous flirtations. It took me by surprise is all.” He smiled his easy lazy smile. “I guess that means I get to ask out Jessica Stanley after all.”
Rosalie glared daggers at Emmett. “You do that and you’ll be sleeping in the doghouse with Jake for a month!”
“Sorry, unlike you I don’t sleep with animals.”
Rosalie growled ferociously. I laughed at the pair, even if I was being used as the butt of their squabbling.
So I hadn’t ruined everything. I mean, it was still good. I smiled, walking out of the room. I would keep to myself that I thought about Rosalie, that I loved her scent, her smile, her narcissistic behavior, her bitchiness her, everything. If it meant that things could stay this way, I’d forget my brief soirée into my tawdry world of adultery..
I went in to the living room where the entire family was sitting, apparently watching a movie.
Bella gave me a knowing grin. “So, you and Rosalie.”
Jasper sniggered, despite his best efforts.
I felt a blush creeping along my cheeks. I glared at Edward. You knew about their sordid love affairs this whole time! I accused.
“Of course.” He said aloud. “I just love torturing you son!” he ruffled my head and I nearly bit his arm off.
He laughed at my growl and went to sit by Bella on the couch. There were sounds from upstairs as Rosalie and Emmett rekindled their passion.
I took a seat beside Alice, who was the only one who didn’t react to this situation. “What, no snide comment or innocent giggle?”
She looked at me sincerely, “nope.”
I looked at her warily before getting comfortable. “I mean you’re free to make your own choices.”
“Thank you Alice. I always knew I liked you best.” I said.
“I didn’t see that coming though.” She said in mock horror.
“That’s because you can’t see me.” I shook my head, resigning myself to the embarrassment.
She giggled slightly and I tried to ignore her.
Despite the stress I’d put myself under the past day and a half, and the relief that it all meant nothing, I felt happy to be sitting amongst these leeches that were like family. I figured if I could sit in a room full of vampires and not kill every one of them; it was going to be a pretty good night.

End.
