Vampire Hunter D Fan Fiction / InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Eternity ❯ The Angel ( Chapter 3 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

AN: In response to my first reviews… D and Chiyoko are from far in the future, and by some strange twist of fate they end up in… sengoku jidai! Get ready for Sesshou-goodness! Also… just think about it… two unbelievably sexy men, one in black, one in white… doesn't that just make for a yummy mental image? Can I get an amen?!

I don't own Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru, D… *sniffle* but if I did they would never leave my room, hehehe… I do own Chiyoko, though.

One more thing… I am taking extreme liberties here, but… I have removed the freakin' annoying demon that possesses D's left hand. It's gone. Enjoy.

D never felt his body hit the compact dirt, for he had fallen into a trancelike sleep induced by the memories that flooded his conscious mind, but he did feel his head pound as he awoke several hours later.

"I should have guessed," he said quietly, aware of the stirring girl in his grasp. "Nothing. What a fool I a-" but he paused, noticing a wooden ladder stretching upward before him. Gaining his feet, D swept himself and Chiyoko up the ladder, onto a rich carpet of grass.

It was only then that D realized he was in trouble.

Left behind were the dusty plains, the dry shrubs, and the tree trunk. In their place were rich grasses, lush forest, and an enormous tree with a single scar marring its perfect white base. D admitted for the second time that night that he was a fool.

"Following a demon… It has never led me to another time and place, though. Never sent me so far," he croaked, more to himself than anything. Chiyoko was starting to rouse from her slumber, her wounds sealing themselves during her rest.

D lifted his nose high into the wind and concentrated. He could just detect Yukio's scent to the northwest, and so that was the direction in which he chose to move. If he was in another time, reality… he might as well track down the being that led him there.

Three hours and countless kilometers later, D had to rest. Chiyoko was beginning to drag him down, and he needed to sleep. Placing the female dhampire on the ground, D dared to venture in search of much needed firewood… this place was unusually cold for early fall.

Five minutes after he was gone, Chiyoko woke from her healing sleep. Blinking her unfocused eyes brought D's absence to her attention, and she made a pained noise. She hated when D left her. It made her feel weak and vulnerable, now that she had been with him all these months. She felt sick, and retched into the grass she lay on.

Grass… the last thing she could remember was fainting onto warm dirt… so where the hell was she now? And where was D? The bastard better not have left me here, or so help me I'll-

Chiyoko's rambling thoughts were cut short by a rustle in the trees to her left. She sat up as quickly as her still weak body would allow her. Demon… definitely demon her senses screamed. Unconsciously reaching for her swords, Chiyoko stared into the forest. "Come on out, demon bastard… I don't have time to play with you," she hissed.

"That is good, for I haven't the time, either," came the reply from twenty paces north.

Chiyoko scrambled to her feet, steadying herself for battle. Her twin blades were unsheathed and at her sides.

"Show yourself, coward," she yelled, her blood rising, infusing her cheeks with color.

"As you wish."

Chiyoko nearly dropped her swords… nearly. An angel had emerged from the underbrush, and her breath had left her. Clad in white, with hair to match, the demon that stood before her may as well have run her through. And he might have if D hadn't returned at that very moment.

Chiyoko caught D's movement out of the corner of her eye. He had his cross-sword drawn and aimed at the angel. Chiyoko's heart dropped.

"No! D, don't!" she yelled, launching herself at the dhampire. The angel floated safely upward, and Chiyoko landed, full front, on D.

"Chiyoko, what are you doing?" D barked, peering over her shoulder at the white demon who was now making his way toward the entangled pair.

"D, you can't just kill everyone! Do you even know who he is… or where we are?" she shrieked, staring into his brown eyes. Blood stained her cheeks again, not because her body was preparing for a fight, but because she was fighting her inner demons… demons that felt D pressed against her so intimately after seeing the beautiful white angel. Suddenly, Chiyoko felt guilty and stupid. This was ridiculous! She had no time for lustful feelings… she had to save herself and her partner.

Mentally, Chiyoko slapped herself, and then she hurried to her feet. When she turned around, the man in white was but inches from her, delicate nose lifted to the cool autumn air. Chiyoko was afraid and strangely unafraid at the same time. The man, no, the demon in front of her showed no signs of hostility other than the two swords sheathed at his left hip. She studied him, and he studied her… and then he spoke.

"You are… not human," he said, almost in a relieved tone.

D was up on his feet by now, and stepped beside his partner. "No, we are not. What business is it of yours?"

The man in white looked at D now, and his gaze roamed over the dhampire. "You are vampires, perhaps? Yes, that is what you are. It is my business, vampire, because the lands through which you travel are mine. What agenda have you in my lands?" the lord asked of the two, and Chiyoko thought it was time for her to speak up.

"We are in search of a demon by the name of Yukio. He and his partner, who I slew earlier, attacked a village nearby, and we-"

"Chiyoko… we are not in our time any longer."

This bit of information gave Chiyoko pause. Not in their time? What the hell was he talking about?

"But… how is that even possible? We followed Yukio to… somewhere… here. Are you telling me this is… is this the past, or the future?" she finally asked, still not quite believing D.

While the partners hade been talking, the lord in white watched them closely. The vampire, D, was quite a stunning creature, as was his companion, Chiyoko. The lord could tell that both were highly skilled fighters… perhaps even a match for him. He found himself wanting them to accompany him on his hunt for the worthless hanyou, Naraku. When he focused on them again, they were still debating whether they had fallen into the past of future. Though they had captivated his attention, they were wearing his patience thin with their yammering.

"This is year 1593… I am assuming this is your past, then? And while I have the pleasure of interrupting you, my name is Lord Sesshoumaru of the Western lands," Sesshoumaru gave an almost imperceptible grin to the young dhampires before him, expecting the awe and reverence due him… but none came. Sesshoumaru supposed they did not have noble youkai left in their future world, so he let their disrespect slide, and his face fell immediately back into its deceptively angelic countenance.

"Well, Lord Sesshoumaru, we are tracking the demon Yukio back to his master. Perhaps you could assist us. When Chiyoko slew Kei, Yukio's partner, this came from her body," D said, reaching into his pocket and retrieving the pink shard. It pricked at his fingers, and he winced as he held it out for Sesshoumaru's inspection.

The demon lord noticeably stiffened. "You are hunting the minion of a very corrupt half-demon named Naraku," said he. "It appears that we share the same goal, vampires, so it would be prudent, perhaps, for us to join forces."

Chiyoko smiled at Sesshoumaru's words. He wanted to join them, did he? Well, it could only prove to be beneficial. A demon lord would certainly be a great ally in the fights that would ensue, Chiyoko was sure. The fact that he looked like a fallen celestial being with his porcelain skin and ivory hair did not hinder her decision to accept his offer.

The three demons made their alliance in the forest that night, and Chiyoko felt at peace for once as she settled down to sleep beside her two partners…

Another A/N: Sesshoumaru doesn't realize that his new partners aren't full demons… hmm. Wonder what he'll do when the sun rises? Next chappie coming soon!
