Vampire Knight Fan Fiction ❯ The Black Sincerity ❯ Dressmakers ( Chapter 6 )

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]

Thank-you to the readers that left reviews, your input is appreciated! Your questions should be answered in the next couple of chapters. This chapter took a long time to write because I got stuck at one point and just couldn't go on for awhile. But, since I got stuck on chapter six, I started working on chapter seven so it should be out pretty soon too.

Chapter Six: Dress-makers

Ren had just woken up from a nap when they came. Two women dressed in elegant kimonos bowed low before Ren, who stood up and greeted them warmly.

“Chiyzu! Inari! It's good to see you both,” The two women smiled back.

“Good to see us…even though you know why we've come,” Yuki watched as Ren made a face and flapped her arms at them.

“Yes yes. The dress, I know,” Ren crinkled her nose in disgust. Chiyzu, the shorter stocker one, grinned widely,

“That's what you get for winning. Now let me unpack the baskets we've brought so we can start right away. We only have a week you know,” Chiyzu bustled about but Inari stood still. She waited until she caught Ren's eye.

“He's not happy you left.” Ren rolled her eyes.

“Of course not. But it wasn't his choice Inari,” Yuki heard the warning in Ren's voice and became even more confused.

“Wait! What is in a week? Who isn't happy?” Yuki demanded, a little cross at being left out.

“Oh excuse my manners. Yuki these are some…friends of mine, Chiyzu and Inari. Chiyzu, Inari this is my sister Yuki.” Chiyzu stopped what she was doing and joined Inari in a deep bow.

“It is an honor to meet the sister of Ren,” Inari said with great formality but Chiyzu ruined the moment by grinning again and adding,

“But to your questions I think you'd have your best chance getting answers from your sister.” Chiyzu laughed off Ren's sour look as Yuki turned expectantly towards her. Ren sighed,

“What do you want to know first…the who or the what?” Yuki debated for a moment.

“The who.”

“The who is Inari's cousin, Kaemon. He nursed me right after the challenge and wanted me to recover longer where I was.” It was Chiyzu who satisfied Yuki's innate female curiosity.

“And he's madly in love with her!” Inari looked affronted by the suggestion that anyone in her family would be madly anything.

“And the what?” Inari answered this one,

“The Darkhour ball is happening next week.” At Yuki's look of confusion and Ren's nod of encouragement, she elaborated. “The Darkhour Ball occurs every three years, and is a renewal of the pact between vampires and witches. Your sister will be in attendance this year and needs to have a dress made.” Inari shot Chiyzu a no-nonsense look.

“Will Kaname be there?” Yuki asked. Inari and Chiyzu looked surprised that Yuki knew who that was. Ren shook her head at them and answered Yuki,

“Yes he will; he is…the “leader” of the vampires in a sense.” An odd look flitted across Ren's face.

“Could I go?” Yuki asked hopefully.

“That probably wouldn't be the best idea,” Inari began when Chiyzu interrupted her,

“Nonsense, it's not like Ren can't protect her, given her current position. Besides humans have attended the Darkhour ball before,” Inari, who had been shooting Chiyzu a poisonous glance, opened her mouth to reply but Ren silenced her.

“It would be best if you didn't go,” Ren said, spreading her hands apart. At Yuki's crestfallen expression, she sighed “But I can't say no to you, so if you want to go you can” Chiyzu shot Yuki a celebratory look as Inari shot Ren an angry one.

“Guess we'll have to make two dresses now!” Inari looked ready to explode so Yuki held up a placating hand.

“I've already got a suitable dress; at least I think it's suitable. Why don't I go get it and you can decide,” Yuki walked out into the hall and ran right into someone's chest. Apologizing she looked up to see a handsome but unfamiliar man staring down at her with brilliant blue eyes.

“Excuse me, is this Ren's room?” he asked gently taking a step back from her. Yuki nodded silently, completely stunned. He walked past her and into the room. Yuki was about to follow when she heard.

“GET OUT OF HERE! I'M NOT DECENT!” the man walked back out at much slower pace than Yuki would have if she had had that angry voice directed at her. He shot Yuki a rueful half smile as he leaned against the wall outside the door.

“Don't worry; she says that almost every time I go into her room. She is obviously in much better health now then she was last time I saw her. I am Kaemon Nakashima by the way” he made a bow to her “You must be Ren's sister, Yuki, right?” Again Yuki just nodded. He smiled at her and then leaned back against the wall, closing his eyes.

Yuki took the ensuing silence and his closed eyes as an open invitation to stare at him. After all this was the man who was in madly in love with her sister. His black hair was pulled back into a short pony tail at the base of his neck but it didn't look the least bit effeminate coupled with his height and broad shoulders. Suddenly Yuki remembered why she was out in the hallway in the first place. Leaving Kaemon to face her sister alone, she went off to get her dress.

It was Zero who found her a short while later twirling around in the dress she had worn to the school dance awhile ago.

“What are you doing?” he asked leaning against the door frame. Yuki smiled at him happily.

“Just making sure this still fits,” she said and twirled around again.

“Why?”

“I'm going to a ball,” Zero arched his eyebrow in a question. “The Darkhour ball,” she explained.

“What!? You're going to the Darkhour ball? Don't you know how dangerous that is?” Yuki was shocked by Zero's furious expression.

“I'll be fine. Ren will keep me safe,” she said stubbornly. Zero was about to throw a fit but changed his mind. He knew that the more he yelled about it the more Yuki would dig her heels in about going. Zero decided to have a talk with Ren about it.

When Yuki re-entered Ren's room she was wearing her school uniform again. She held the dress up for inspection and Inari went over it several times before deeming it acceptable. Yuki didn't see the looks that passed between the other three and was happy that she could wear the dress again. Looking around the room she noticed that a certain person was not there.

“Where's Kaemon,” she asked.

“He went home to sulk,” Ren said contemptuously.

“He should know by now that you have an implacable resolve,” The cheerful tone in Chiyzu's voice caused Inari to give an audible sniff, expressing her opinion on the subject.

“Well I'm looking forward to the ball,” Yuki said trying to break the uncomfortable silence. Ren smiled warmly at her,

“I'm glad” she said. Yuki smiled back before leaving to check the grounds.
