The Stage is Set For the Game to Begin
Kaname was pacing. He stopped and glanced at the clock, it was 10:00, and Yuki hadn't come back yet. He would know as soon as she did. He was beginning to worry. What could be keeping her so long? Kaname had seen Zero fly past the Night class' dorms hours ago. He attempted to question Zero, but the Headmaster appeared and Kaname didn't wish to involve him. So Kaname retreated, left to worry non-stop over the safety of his Yuki. If anything happened to her, it would be his fault. He allowed her to go look for Zero alone. He should have followed her to be sure nothing happened. His mind whirled with images of the things the Headmaster would do when he found out. And Zero… Kaname growled.
“That good for nothing sonofa-”
Kaname stopped and regained his composure. The night was getting colder. If Yuki didn't come back soon, she was likely to freeze to death in this weather. Kaname's nerves we making him jittery. He was trying hard to keep himself sane. Yuki could just be walking… At 10 o'clock at night? Yea, right… She is out there, alone in the vehemently cold dark… Kaname finally snapped and ran out of the room, intentions set on finding his dear Yuki.

Meanwhile….
--
Zero stood leaning his head against the window of his room. Words from his short-lived conversation with Kaname echoed throughout his head.
----
“Why did you come back alone?! Yuki went there to find you! She was worried! So you just leave her?!” Kaname's anger erupted like a volcano.
“How could you? You selfish bastard! You should-”
Kaname stopped as the headmaster entered,
“Kaname? Zero? What's all this about?”
“Nothing Headmaster…”
Kaname stated professionally. He stalked out the door his anger still obvious.
----
Zero sighed and closed his eyes, resting his head on the cool glass. What was Kaname going to say?
“You should die? Find her? Be ashamed of yourself?” Zero muttered, thinking of a few.
“I am ashamed… I probably should die… But go find her? How could I possibly… After what I did…”
He turned and punched the bed.
“How could I continue to take her blood like this?! I'm such a despicable beast! How could she stand to be near me??”
His rage was ebbing. He turned back to the window and stared longingly toward the forest Yuki had found him in.
“What am I going to do? What… What if something happens to her…? It'll be my fault… What would I do if something happened to her? I-I don't know how I'd go on with this pathetic excuse of a life…”
With that decided, Zero watched a moment longer, but then he noticed Kaname exiting his dorm, a determined, upset look on his face.
“He must be going to find Yuki… Guess I'm not needed…”
Zero turned, upset and collapsed onto his bed, curling up for a sleepless night in the moonless dark.

Kaname soared through the school grounds. He already knew where he wouldn't find Yuki… And he had a general idea of where she might be. He saw the direction from which Zero had returned… They had been in the woods surrounding the school. Those woods were dangerous, Kaname sometimes would hear of rogue Vampires hiding there. His worry increased when he remembered this tidbit of info. His eyes narrowed as he sped through the grounds.
---
Upon reaching the forest, Kaname looked around for traces of Yuki. The sky was lightless. All traces of the sun were gone completely. Kaname finally recognized a faint trail of Yuki's scent and followed it as quick as possible through the woods, stumbling through the dense undergrowth with no thought what so ever to the poor defenseless foliage. His mind was whirling through all the possibilities that could have happened to Yuki. Everything seemed to cloud his mind with grief and anger. Yuki's scent was getting stronger. Kaname sped up slightly, every sense carefully attuned to anything that could give away Yuki's position. He finally came to the spot where Yuki had found Zero. Kaname knew for a few slight reasons. Zero's scent still lingered strongly here because of the massive amount of time he'd spent here, and he could smell Yuki's blood. Even though the two of them thought that no one noticed, Kaname knew Zero had been drinking Yuki's blood. Kaname didn't like it… But he knew there was nothing he could say to stop Yuki. He'd learned from experience that once her mind was set there was nothing that could be done to change that mind set. He kneeled over and wiped his hand carefully over the spot he knew Yuki was standing when Zero drank from her, he pulled his hand away wet. He put it to his nose and sniffed,
“Her blood it's still somewhat fresh… She can't be too far away…”
He stood, wiping his hand clean on his pants then looked around, trying to find where her scent was strongest. Finally he found the direction he needed and dashed off again. He closed his eyes, permitted his other senses to take over and lead him to where Yuki would be. He stopped again.
“She was surprised here… She changed directions again… What happened here??”
Kaname was getting more worried. The reason she changed directions... Could someone have grabbed her? Kaname shook his head. He was allowing his imagination get way to much freedom. He suppressed his thoughts and focused on finding Yuki. He rushed off in the direction he deduced she'd gone. Finally he arrived at the spot where Yuki sat, snoozing quietly in the branches of the tree. Kaname looked around, befuddled.
“Where IS she? Her scent… It stops here…”
Yuki mumbled something in her sleep. Kaname shifted hastily, looking into the tree, thinking it was an enemy. He spied the corner of Yuki's shirt dangling in between a break in the branches. Kaname sighed in relief and jumped swiftly into the tree. He kneeled carefully in front of Yuki and gently shook her awake after laying his sweater over her freezing body.
“Yuki? Yuki… Are you alright?”
Yuki rubbed her eyes.
“K-Kan-name? Wh-why are y-you here?”
She stuttered, the cold limiting her ability to speak.
Kaname pulled her against him to warm her.
“I was afraid when you didn't return… I tried to wait patiently… But I couldn't do it. It was getting too late… Come on… Let's go back to the dorms… You're sleeping in my room tonight… I want to be able to keep an eye on you for a while… I may go insane if this ever happens again.”
Yuki snuggled close to Kaname's warmth and nodded,
“Ok.”
Kaname cautiously picked her up so she could still curl up against him and jumped down, landing gracefully on his feet.
----
Once they arrived back at the school's grounds Kaname first carried Yuki to the Headmaster's room. He carefully knocked on the door without awakening the sleeping Yuki. The headmaster opened the door, a worried look on his face.
“Ahh. Kaname… I was just about to se-… Oh… Never mind. I see you've found her, again. Thank you.”
Kaname nodded.
“It was no problem… But headmaster, I was wondering… Would it be all right for Yuki to spend tonight in my room…? And maybe skip school tomorrow. She's very cold, I'm afraid of leaving her alone as of right now. I believe if she's in my room she'll be quite a bit warmer… It will be better for her.”
The headmaster contemplated this for a moment, then consented.
“Yes. I quite agree with you. I think it will be better. And yes, she'll not have to be in class tomorrow. Kaname, just please, make sure she gets well.”
Kaname nodded and bowed delicately aware of Yuki's position. The walk back to his room was spent in quiet relief that he had found his beloved and over the worry over Yuki's lack of control over what was happening.
`What if she awakes and hates me? What if she presumes I took advantage of her? Would she hate me or would she ask first?'
Kaname slipped quietly through the front door and slid nonchalantly into his room without disturbing the classes going on for the Night Class. Once in his room he gently set Yuki on his bed and proceeded to lock all the doors and windows, not wanting any of his classmates to get hungry and come in while Kaname was unguarded that would be dangerous for Yuki. After locking all of the windows, Kaname quickly changed into his sleeping clothes. He glanced at Yuki, his sweater had slid off and laid useless on the ground, Yuki was curled up, sleeping oblivious to her surroundings, her hair laid strewn across her face. Kaname smiled and shut off his light before moving to Yuki's side. He gently lifted her and pulled the blankets down on his bed. He laid her back down against the wall side of his bed then he slipped in next to her and pulled the blankets up to cover them both. He turned to lay facing Yuki's sleeping form. She was mumbling again then she snuggled up against Kaname's warmth. He blushed, surprised. After calming slightly, he wrapped his arms carefully around her sleeping form and pulled her closer, resting his head on hers. Like that they slept.
