Pain of Lost Loves

 

Kaname and Yuki hurried as they made their way to the Headmaster's office.

Once they reached the office Yuki hesitated. Kaname looked at her curiously,

“What's wrong? You don't have to come in if you'd rather stay out here.”

Yuki looked up at him, eyes wide. She shook her head and tightened her grip on Kaname's hand. Kaname nodded and reached up to knock on the Headmaster's door.

“Come in!”

Came Headmaster Cross' voice through the door. Kaname kissed Yuki's hand and opened the door, stepping in, pulling Yuki behind him slightly. Headmaster Cross looked up,

“Oh! Kaname and Yuki! What brings you two here?”

He tilted his head to the side inquisitively. Kaname cleared his throat and began.

“Headmaster… I came to inform you of something and ask you something.”

Cross nodded,

“Alright. What is it?”

Kaname tightened his grip on Yuki's hand.

“Yuki… Yuki and I love each other… And I came to ask… Would give your permission for me to date her?”

Cross didn't look surprised in the least.

“Why of course Kaname! My dear dear boy! Of course you two have my permission. Now was there anything else?”

Kaname fidgeted.

“Y-yes. I wanted to know if Yuki could move into my room. There's an extra room she can use and-”

Cross' laughter interrupted Kaname's proposal.

“Kaname. No need to explain. I trust the both of you fully. Do whatever makes you the most comfortable. All right? Kaname, I've known you for a very long time. And you were the one to find Yuki. Just do what seems best for you two.”

Kaname was stunned, as was Yuki. Then she squeaked and ran to Cross throwing her arms around him.

“Thank you daddy!”

He smiled and kissed her head,

“I'm just watching out for what's best for you darling.”

She smiled and walked back to where Kaname stood waiting.

“Well, I guess we'll go start packing her things. Thank you again Headmaster.”

Kaname and Yuki left, both smiling and walked to Yuki's room holding hands. They spent the rest of the evening packing her things into boxes. Around twelve a knock came on the door.

“Yuki? Are you here? Are you alone?”

It was Zero. Kaname glanced at Yuki, kissed her and jumped out the window to give them some time.

“Come in Zero. Yes I'm alone.”

The door opened and Zero slipped in, sitting on Yuki's bed carefully.

“Cross told me… About you and Kaname. I'm glad… You've earned someone like Kaname. You deserve someone who will care for you and love you like you are worthy of.”

Yuki's eyes widened slightly as she took in the hidden meaning in his words. She stood and moved to sit next to him on her bed.

“Zero… Zero, I didn't know… Why…?”

Zero looked away,

“I don't know what you're talking about Yuki. Didn't know what?”

Yuki sighed,

“I didn't know you loved me… Why didn't you ever tell me?”

She grabbed his hand and pulled him into a hug.

“Y-Yuki?!”

Zero was surprised at the bluntness of her statement, but he relaxed and pulled her to him into their hug. Yuki held him close as she felt him begin to shake slightly.

“Zero… Are you going to be ok?”

He looked up; tears that refused to fall shining in his eyes.

“I-I'll be fine. Don't worry about me. Be happy Yuki.”

He smiled, stood and kissed her head before leaving Yuki sitting on her bed alone until Kaname returned. He sat next to her and pulled her close.

“Yuki… Are you okay? What did Zero want with you?”

Yuki looked up,

“He just wanted to talk…”

Kaname kissed her head.

“Are you sure? You look really shaken…”

She nodded and smiled,

“Yeah, Yeah! I'm fine… I promise. Here… This is the last box. Could you take it down while I say bye?”

Kaname nodded, knowing whom she meant when she said that, and slipped out quietly. Yuki quietly tapped on Zero's door, not quite sure he'd answer.

“Who is it?”

“It's me…”

She mumbled it almost silently, but Zero heard it. He threw open the door.

“What is it Yuki?”

She looked down,

“Could I come in for a minute before I leave?”

He looked down, blushing slightly but stepped to the side, allowing her in. She stepped in and turned to him as he shut his door.

“Now Yuki, don't give up this great chance to be worried about me…”

Yuki shook her head vigorously, before looking at Zero calmly,

“Zero, I just want to make sure you understand exactly how much I care about you… How much you mean to me…”

“Yuki, what're you say-”

He was cut off as Yuki threw her arms around his shoulders, and looked into his eyes. Unable to speak due to the sheer closeness of her, Zero's guard slipped and he slid his arm around her, and placed one hand gently on her face before tilting it to him and kissing her gently. He quickly pulled away, pushing her off slightly.

“I… I'm sorry Yuki… I didn't…”

Zero looked up to see tears forming in Yuki's eyes. His own widened, “Yuki! I'm sorry! Please… Don't cry… I'm sorry… If you want we can pretend like it never happened…”

Yuki shook her head and moved closer to Zero, placing a hand on his face,

“No Zero… The reason I'm crying isn't because I didn't like it… I'm crying because I did like it… Zero, for the longest time I wanted to tell you how much I love you, but everything I tried to do for you, you pushed me away… I never knew how to tell you… And now, now I'm with Kaname… I just felt it was only fair if I told you… I'm sorry…”

Zero pulled Yuki close and closed his eyes,

“No, I'm sorry… For never realizing it… Forgive me Yuki…”

He bent down and kissed her again, this time letting it last longer, before releasing her and painfully watching as she left, his last chance at gaining her lost.

 

`Yuki is being extremely quiet…' Kaname stole another glance as Yuki sighed and continued to stare out the window as the pulled up to the vampire dorms. He placed is hand on hers,

“Yuki? Are you sure you're alright?”

She looked up,

“What? Oh, yes, I'm fine… I'm sorry for worrying you. But I'm really okay.”

He smiled and kissed her gently,

“Alright, well let's get you unpacked, okay?”

She nodded and they exited the car and began to carry her boxes to his room. Suddenly Kain and Aido appeared, tugging a few boxes along with them,

Yuki giggled at the sight of a vampire struggling to carry boxes.

Aido stopped,

“Hey! You think this is funny?! You try carrying six boxes! What's in these things!? They're heavier than most construction equipment!!! Plus, I don't exactly have much muscle… I use my time for more important things…”

He continued to grumble until all the boxes were successfully moved into Yuki's new room.

They all collapsed in a heap on the floor.

“Whew! Sure was tiresome!!”

Aido's complaints made Yuki laugh again, which in turn made Kaname burst out into laughter. Aido's grumbling stopped and he began to get frustrated.

“It`s not funny!!!!”

He pouted before finally giving up.

“Alright, Kain, Aido, it's time for you two to leave. Thank you for your help.”

Kaname's tone made no room for argument. Kain stood and bowed and pulled the still mumbling Aido from the room. Yuki giggled and looked up at Kaname,

“Now, you should probably begin to unpack. Would you like some help?”

Yuki shook her head, “No, I don't think I need any help, but I'd enjoy your company.”

Kaname nodded and sat quietly on her bed as she began to unpack. They spent most of the night doing this, Kaname watching and every now and then they would converse about small things. Finally, Yuki had finished unpacking everything. She sat with a sigh next to Kaname and rested her head against his shoulder. He smiled and kissed her head, wrapping his arm around her side. She looked up at him and smiled lovingly,

“I love you Kaname…”

He smiled gently and kissed her, the same sort of kiss that he gave her when he first confessed, her heat began to beat wildly and she began to feel woozy. The kiss didn't stop. The next thing she knew, she was lying down with Kaname hovering above her, both panting for breath. Kaname smiled and kissed her again, the same breath-taking kiss, yet seemed to be more demanding. His hands traveled slowly down her body, making her shiver. She felt Kaname's tongue gently licking her lips, questioning for entrance. She complied and he slipped his tongue inside, exploring every bit of her he could. They parted once more to breath and Kaname gently brushed loose hair from her face.

“I love you too Yuki…”

He smiled and stood before kissing her again, soft and sweet.

“Good night, my beloved.”

He whispered and left the room. Yuki sat there, still slightly dazed at what had just transpired. She changed into a pair of her favorite pajamas and snuggled into her blankets.

 

She couldn't sleep… She'd tried, really she had, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't seem to fall asleep. She stood and silently slipped into the hallway, moving quietly toward Kaname's room. She carefully opened the door, knocking lightly on his door. He sat up in bed, reading what she figured was his German book. He looked up and set it down,

“Yuki, are you alright?”

She slid inside and shut the door. She nodded and sat next to him,

“Yeah, I just couldn't fall asleep… So I was hoping you'd be awake… And I was sort of wondering if… You know, I could sleep with you again tonight?”

Kaname chuckled and nodded,

“Of course you can.”

She beamed and slipped under his covers, snuggling close to his warm body. He smiled down at her and kissed her carefully, unwilling to allow himself to move too far with her too quickly. They pulled apart and Kaname kissed her head gently,

“Goodnight my love.”

“Goodnight Kaname.”

And with that, she fell asleep, unconsciously snuggling closer to him. He picked his book up and read for a little while longer before closing it and turning in himself.

`I'm going to have to find a way to make her used to sleeping alone… For when I go back to class, she'll have to be alone…'

It just drug itself out and school's gotten hectic…. Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed it so far! Please, don't hesitate to criticize… I enjoy hearing anyways to possibly make my writing better…..

 

And sorry about the randomly awkward moment with Zero… I promise it works itself out later… There is a reason I put it in there… haha.
