Chapter 8~~ From Gaea to Earth
The sun was setting as Artemis's silver chariot brought in the night. In three separate areas, a sparkling blue light filled the sky. Within these lights emerged six figures, two in each light.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*Merideth Hills Park*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
It was Alex's turn to patrol. The night was still new and not many vampires had come to feed yet. As she continued to wander through the trees, she noticed a large pack of vampires huddled around a frightened boy.
"Heya! Can I join in on the fun?" Alex asked the pack as she emerged from the shadows.
"What do you want, girly?" One of the older vampires sneered at her.
"Oh, you know, the usual. I just want to play," she said as she pulled her trusty 45mm colt from where she had stashed it in her waistband. Without taking aim, she shot out three bullets. Two of them hit the older vampire and the third one strayed off to the side where it hit one of the other vampires through the heart. Both vampires fell as dust to ground.
"Well, now that wasn't much fun. Will you come and play with me, please?" Alex asked in mock innocence.
"It's one of those damn slayers. Bitch! You killed my brother. For that, you will die!" One of the female vampires screamed, her lips curling into a snarl.
"Come on, bitch. You couldn't take me even with one arm tied behind my back."
"Slut! I'd like to see you try!" the vampire shrieked as she pulled a switchblade out of her boot.
A fight ensued. Alex took her sai out of her inside jacket pocket. Using only her right hand, she went into combat with the angry she-vampire. The vampire slashed out with her knife but Alex leaned backwards to miss the blade. This caused the vampire to fall forward. Alex brought her own blade up as the vampire fell on top of her. The she-vampire screeched as she impaled herself on her opponent's blade and exploded into a mass of dust, sprinkling Alex with a cloud of gray ash. The switchblade landed with a hollow clatter on the ground next to her.
"Damn, Bitch, got my clothes all dirty!" she whined angrily as she jumped up and pulled her colt out once again and fired at her next opponents.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*The First of the Gaeans*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The blue light began to fade away as two figures landed on the ground. The first figure was obviously male and had begun to wake up.
"Uhhh, nande Kuso. Nande was that shit? Fucking Van, it was all his damn fault! Shimatta my heads killing me," the male figure said angrily. The man appeared to be young. He was tall at about five foot ten inches. His hair was light, and through the minimal light of the moon, it appeared to be a shade of gray or possibly a light blonde. He wore red and black armor and a beautifully engraved sword hung securely at his side.
Looking around at the scenery the man noticed his traveling partner.
"Kuso, I got stuck with that neko-onna. Fucking Dragon! I'm gonna kill him when I see him again!" He yelled out again.
"What are you yelling about, Baka?" the before mentioned cat woman mumbled out as she was awoken from her unconscious state.
"Baka! I'm a baka? Who's the one that got us stuck on this kami forsaken place?"
"Oh, shut up for once, Dilandau-baka. All you ever do is complain about everything. Come on, let's go find Van-sama," the feline said as she stood up.
"Fine," the man called Dilandau said as he too stood up from his position on the ground.
The two figures began walking, not knowing where they were or where they were going.
"Do you hear that?" the cat girl asked.
"Hear what?" Dilandau asked.
"You bitch!" rang through the still night air.
"That way," the feline said as she pointed towards the source of the voice.
When both the cat girl and the young man emerged from the trees, they saw a woman dressed in a pair of black low-rise leather hip hugger pants and a tight red spaghetti tank top. She also had on a black leather duster. Upon closer inspection, they noticed the girl had rich, dark chocolate colored hair that was pulled up in a tight ponytail, but had it been let down, it would have reached her mid-back. In her hand, gleaming in the moonlight was a silver three-pronged weapon. The woman, who could not have been any older than 18 years old, was fighting off a few people, two men and one sluttish looking woman.
'She's beautiful,' Dilandau thought to himself unconsciously. 'What the hell am I thinking? She got a nice rack is what I'm thinking. Shimatta! It must be this Mystic Moon magic that baka Van is always whining about. Doesn't matter, she's violent. I want her.'
"Why don't you take a long walk of a short pier, you blood sucking fucker?" the girl yelled out as she tossed a silver dagger at one of the men she was fighting off. The man crumbled into a fine dust.
"Nan-nande Dilandau-baka, what was that thing?" The cat girl asked in fright.
"It's a blood sucker, like the ones Folken was talking about. She must be one of those 'slayers' Dryden-sama was mumbling about," the tall man said to his feline companion.
"Oh," was all she could say as she inched her way closer to the larger man.
The remaining two vampires decided to come at the girl together. Once they were close enough to her, the girl kicked the female vampire in the head, smashing her nose. The vampire stumbled backwards in shock. Taking her sai out once more, the girl stabbed the male vampire, turning him into dust. She then tossed her sai at the woman, hitting her in the chest causing her to explode like the previous vampire.
Wiping off her weapon, the girl put it back into her jacket pocket. She then went around the open area, picking up all the blades, and pocketing them.
When she was about to leave the area, she noticed the shadowy figures under the trees.
"Whose there?" she demanded as she pulled out one of the blades and held it in a defensive position.
"Konban wa," one of the figures said as she walked out of the trees.
"What in the world are you?" she mumbled to herself as she stared at the strange cat creature. The creature had orange fur and pink hair. Her tail flicked nervously from under her.
"Watashi wa Fanel Merle desu," the cat girl identified as Merle Fanel said as she did a small curtsy.
"Albatou Dilandau," the second figure stated as he came out of the trees behind the cat girl. He was studying her, she could feel it. She met her crystal blue eyes with his devilish red and raised an eyebrow, half-questioning, half-daring.
"You're a slayer," he continued.
"Crap, they don't speak English. He said slayer. I have to take them to Willow. She'll know what to do. And I'm sure Tommy Girl is with her, that cat girl said something I've heard her say before. It must be Japanese," the girl said to herself. Giving the pair a follow me hand motion she began her trek to find her old friend Willow. The pair followed her through the park.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*Magic Shop*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Soft music was heard throughout the building. The simple and sad ballads of Sarah McLaughlin filled the two rooms that made up the magic shop. In the back room, a lone figure sat on the floor of what appeared to be a stock room. A laptop sat off to the side with cords sticking out of it. One of the cords made its way towards the figure's head where it was attached to a pair of headphones. Her head moved in key with the steady beat of Avril Lavigne's "Complicated". Upon the figure's lap sat a book with what looked like a chart in it. The figure was clearly a woman. She looked to be young, about eighteen or so. She had shoulder length blonde hair half of which was wound up in a bun held together by two chopsticks. These sticks were silver and had tassels with gold stars hanging on them. Her figure was slim yet built. Long legs stretched out in front of her. She was clad in a pair of light blue floods and a gray Roxy shirt. On her feet was a pair of white Sketchers. The girl seemed to be working yet rocking out at the same time. This was proven by the way her mouth mimicked the words and the way her head and shoulders moved with the beats.
In the main room of the building, flashed a soft blue as two human beings appeared on the ground. Both appeared to be tall. One was blonde and clad in what appeared to be a white and blue medieval costume that looked frighteningly familiar to a dress with blue pants and brown boots. Strapped to his hip was a sheath with a katana. The second figure was a short cut black haired man. He appeared to be a rustic styled man. He wore earth-toned pants with a loose blue shirt that laced up at the top. On his feet was a pair of tan leather boots.
Shaking his head, the blonde man groaned in pain.
"Uhh, where am I?" he moaned loudly.
"Shut up and let me sleep!" the black hair haired man yelled as he rolled over and curled up in a ball and snorted.
"Gaddes, get your lazy butt up!" the blonde cried out as he kicked his companion in the rear.
"Nande Kuso? Allen, nani was that for?" the man identified as Gaddes questioned.
"You were starting to snore," the blonde man, Allen responded blandly.
"Oh," Gaddes said he stood up off the ground and spun around taking in the sights that was the room.
"Nande is this place?" Allen wondered.
"Don't ask me I don't know anything.''
"Is there anything you do know?" Allen sneered.
"I know how to throw a knife at an object a foot away," he quipped with a smile.
"What are you blabbering about?" Allen said turning to the man.
Gaddes raised an eyebrow and said, "Oh, nothing much. Besides, I think this is a store of sorts. Hey, is that music coming from back there?"
Allen eyed Gaddes suspiciously. He listened for a second and heard the faint sounds of music. They followed it to the back of the large shop. They came to a door with strange symbols they didn't understand. The music was louder now. It was a mellow beat with soft lyrics. Allen opened the door and gasped. There sitting in the middle of the floor was a girl with platinum hair that looked amazingly like an older Serena.
"Serena!" Allen cried out in excitement. He'd always known she was alive and was glad that he had never given up hope like Van and the others had.
The girl pulled the headphones off her head and stared blankly at the men standing in front of her. Confusion and annoyance played out on her face.
"Who the hell are you?" the girl asked.
A sleek female figure blocked their view of the girl. She came up in front of them as if out of thin air. She had burgundy red hair and wore dark blue jeans and tight black shirt with maroon bell-sleeves.
"Can I help you?" she asked the two.
"Nande?" Allen asked.
"Great, you don't speak English." Willow frowned and then motioned them to follow her into the main part of the shop.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*Desert Rose*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The blaring beat of rhythmic dance mixes filtered out from the throbbing mass of teenagers dancing in their favorite hang out, the local dance club, Desert Rose. The club was located in the middle of town in a bland warehouse not far from Willow's Magic Shop. People wandered in and out of the club at random. Cars lined the street under yellow street lamps.
A flash of blue light descended from the sky and left two men behind in the middle of a secluded alley. The music of the club that drifted down the alley drew the two out onto the sidewalk. A car drove by at high speed.
"Nande Kuso, nani is that?" Van said in awe.
"I think it's like our carriages only it moves on its own. This place is indeed strange," Folken said to his younger brother.
"Oh," the raven-haired youth muttered.
The two men continued to walk down the sidewalk until they came to the spot where the music was loud and several people stood outside the warehouse turned dance club. Looking into the throngs of strangely dressed people, Van spotted a figure that looked strangely familiar to him. She was dressed in tight blood red leather pants and a black tank top with a black leather jacket over the top. Around her neck was a black choker with a small silver cross hanging from it. Her hair had grown considerably and it now reached her shoulders. The dark clothing and her make up was a shock to Van; however, the most shocking part of her appearance was the magenta streaks in her soft straw colored locks. The woman Van knew as Hitomi walked off the sidewalk towards some kind of machine. The machine was dark blue and appeared to have purple flames coming from the front towards the rear. The woman swung one leg over the machine and sat down as one would on a horse. Tilting the horse like machine to the side a bit, she released what looked like a stand and then leaned it back upright. Pushing a button, the machine made a loud noise.
'That sounds like the roar of a dragon,' both Van and Folken thought to themselves simultaneously.
Throwing on the helmet, she held in her hand, the Hitomi-look-alike turned on her lights and then revved the machine. She then sped away down the dark road.
"Hitomi-chan!" Van called out as loud as he could.
Hearing her name being called, she turned her head to see who the voice belonged to.
Turning her head back to the road, she failed to notice the pickup truck that came at her from the side. The light was red, yet the truck plowed down the seemingly empty road. When the driver noticed the girl on the bike, he slammed on his breaks. But it was too late, the near invisible biker was hit and tossed like a bag of flour.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Hitomi's POV *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Hitomi-chan!" Van yelled out as loud as he could.
'Van,' Hitomi thought as she turned her head and peered through her visor. 'Oh, my God, it is him and Folken. But Folken's dead. It must be my imagination.'
Turning her head, she saw the blinding lights of the speeding truck that was a mere 20 feet away from her. She froze like a deer caught in headlights. She saw her life flash before her glazed over eyes. She snapped out of her daze as she heard the familiar screams of her Koibito and the blaring horn. The blinding light was the last thing she saw before the lights in her head went out and pain was all she was left with.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Hitomi-chan!" Van cried out as he saw the pick-up truck barrel into Hitomi, causing her to fly off her motorcycle. She flew 30 feet, bounced, and rolled before coming to a stop. She lay on her back with her head at an odd angle. The impact of the truck hit her hard enough to remove her helmet and send it through a nearby windshield. Her motorcycle lay 20 feet away in a mangled mess. A small fire blazed near the fuel tank.
Van ran towards her with Folken in close pursuit. Van reached her just as the person who hit her did.
"I am so sorry! I didn't see her, I swear it," the man cried out at Van. "Is she dead?"
Van looked at the man blankly, confusion evident on his face, and shook his head. He turned back to Hitomi and noticed her face. Multiple abrasions covered her right cheek. She also had a large gash above her left eyebrow that was bleeding profusely. Van gently brushed a strand of blood soaked hair out of her eyes.
"Please, be okay, Hitomi," he whispered. "Please, don't die. Aishiteru."
