Betrayal ~

"Don't touch me fool." The girl stared at him. Her eyes filled with pure hatred for the
man who stood in front of her. He grinned, enjoying her anger towards him. "This is going to be
interesting..." Dilandau murmured to himself.
She lunged at him again. And once again was stopped abruptly by the iron chains holding
her back.
"Good girl." His hand roughly grasped her chin, forcing her to look at him. "Don't
worry..." he whispered. "I don't bite... Much..." She struggled to back away from him. "Foolish
girl."
"Bastard." She spat. Pulling at one of the chains.
Yes she would do quite well... Dilandau backed away, keeping his eyes on her until he
stepped out of the room.
"How did it go?" asked Strategos.
"Well." Replied Dilandau smirking.
"Dilandau."
"She still refuses to give out any information." Failure wasn't the War Lords mow
dignified side. But Dilandau didn't see the interrogation of the girl of any importance. He would
find Van... With or with out her.
What he enjoyed most was being able to play with her... He laughed to himself
remembering her useless attack. She knew she couldn't do anything in chains, and yet she still
fought. This girl truly intriguing.
They started to walk. He was to choose the new Dragon Slayers soon. He had watched
them for weeks. Now it was his chance to get in their fac, mess with their minds...
"AHHHHH!!!" a scream filled the empty corridors. Strategos took a quick glance at
Dilandau, and then quickly walked for the infirmary.
Celeina lay tied to a table. She squirmed and yelled. The bindings holding her down
would become tighter as she attempted to get up.
"LET GO OF ME!" she yelled. "AHH!!"
"Sedate her." ordered Dilandau, leaning over her. He held her down while a sorcerer
pushed the needle into her arm. She quickly calmed down. A glazed look appeared in her eyes.
"Can't we just kill her?" asked Dilandau. Releasing his grip on Celeina. Strategos shook
his head and motioned with his hand for Dilandau to follow him to the training room.

'Damn him.' thought Griffen, holding herself up with the chains clasped tightly to her
wrists. She put one foot on the wall, then the other, she pushed against it sending her legs over
her head, landing gracefully she sat down.
"How in the hell do I get out of here." She tugged at the chain. Dust started to fall. She
coughed. "You will pay Dilandau..." She closed her eyes bringing herself back to the destruction
of her home.

Phoenix Griffen's POV *****

*****

"Phoenix!!!" screamed my mother as the dragon slayer grabbed me from behind. I
elbowed him in the ribs and ran for my mother.
"Run!" I screamed at her. She just stood there, terror frozen in her eyes. Then I noticed
the tip of a sword, which had pierced her stomach. "Mother!" I caught her as the silver haired
man pushed her off his sword.
I cradled her in my arms. "No." I whispered. I looked up. Dilandau stood over me. I felt
tears welling up in my eyes. I wouldn't dare cry. "Son of a-" I jumped at him, hands out
stretched for his neck. He grabbed me and flung me to the ground.
I stood once again to face him. The buildings around us burned. His few Dragon Slayers
stood behind him. I looked around. They were all dead. My friends, my family... But my King
was safe... yes that was all that mattered. Lord Van needed to be alive otherwise, there was no
hope for Fanellia.
I grinned, then began to laugh. He's spent all this time trying to kill Lord Van... And still
after 4 years he still hadn't managed to even capture him.
"What's so funny girl."
I stopped laughing, but the grin remained.
"Tell me girl!" He yelled grabbing my hair.
"Your pathetic." I hissed through clenched teeth. Dilandau pulled me to my feet.
"Watch what you say girl." he hissed beck. "Take her!" he yelped pushing me behind
him and into the three slayers. The hilt of someone's sword came down on my head and
blackness surrounded me.

*****

My eyes opened to the same dark and dreary cell I'd been locked in for the past week. I
tugged the chain again. More dust scattered throughout the air. "Hm.." I stood up. Giving a hard
yank on the chain, I pulled it out of the wall a good inch or so. "For such a advanced civilation
they sure have shitty prisons." After a few minutes I was sent flying to the other side of the
room. I dusted myself off then ran for the door, the chains dragging behind me. I carefully
peaked my head into the hallway, and then skipped out, I snatched the keys and unlocked
myself. "Finally." I sighed rubbing my wrists they were raw from the many times I had tried to
attack Dilandau. "Now..." I spoke to myself, trying to come up with a plan on how to avenge my
family. Looking to the ceiling I spotted a air vent. "Yes... that would work nicely."
I made my way around the Voine, crawling along the vents. Where would Dilandau be?
"Training room." I had a habit of speaking aloud, which was a bad thing. It had gotten me into
trouble many times before.
"Do you actually think your worthy of being my Dragon Slayer?" I heard Dilandau in the
distance.
"NO SIR!" the voices yelled in union.
"Well then... You're wasting my time!"

Dilandau's POV *****

"Dilandau." said Strategos firmly.
I paced back and forth before the thirty men. "But Strategos... They say their not
worthy..." I grinned. "You." I pointed to the one in front of me. "Your name."
"Ie-Iesha Calomis. Son of Jacob Calomis." He replied. I nodded.
"Well Iesha... Step forward. " I drew my sword. "Fight." he drew his sword also.
"DILANDAU!" The girl landed between us. Taking a step back I realized it was the
prisoner.
"So you escaped." I laughed.
She stood up. Then looked at the ceiling. "Jesus." she said. Then looked back to me.
"Miss me?" she twirled around punching Iesha in the face, grabbing his arm she flipped him
over her shoulder.
For a moment I just stared at her. The girl looked at me. She grinned evilly.
"Surprise." She whispered, thrusting the stolen sword towards me. I blocked it easily.
Swinging upwards with my own, she stopped it. Then jumped back.
"Can't you do any better than that?" she asked. "No wonder you can't capture Lord
Van." I looked past her at the 30 soldiers eager to defend me. "Go ahead. Let them fix your little
problem." She jumped towards me. Our swords locked, she spun around, I ducked out of the way
and charged at her, she jumped dropping her sword, I felt her foot hit my chin. Her hands
grabbed my shoulders as the flipped over my head. I turned to face her. I nodded. She was good.
But not good enough. I picked up her sword and tossed it at her. She caught it.
We circled each other, she ran for me. Then she did something unexpected. Almost
impossible. She slipped through my lets using her sword to send me to the floor. She glared
down at me. I rolled onto my back. Her foot was placed firmly on my sword. The tip of her
sword dug into my chest.
I laughed pushing the sword away from me I grabbed her legs, she fell forward with a
slight yelp in surprise as she landed on top of me. I wrapped my legs around hers so she couldn't
move. "Isn't this interesting." She said, trying to push away from me. I held her tightly.
"Your not going anywhere." I hissed, we were face to face. Her blue eyes still had the
same hatred for me as before. I rolled over again so that I was on top of her.
"Kill me boy. Before I kill you." she hissed back.
"You seem to be at a slight disadvantage here." she continued to smile.
"Iesha." She snapped. He hesitated before walking over to us. "Please tell this man who I
am."
"Um... Griffen...Phoenix Griffen. Daughter of General Brygid Friffen. Second in
command of Fanellia's Army."
I looked at her. " Is that supposed to intimidate me?"
"More than half of the men in this room are from Fanellia." I could feel her muscles
relaxing. "I could order you killed and you wouldn't have known what hit you."
"Fanellia lost the war remember."
She shook her head. "We lost the battle."
I got off her. Still holding her arm I hauled her off the floor. Strategos nodded. I knew
what he was thinking.
"She's make the perfect slayer." said Strategos.
"She'll only refuse to fight." I replied. "Can't we just kill the pest."

Phoenix Griffen's POV *****

"No. Dilandau."
"But Strategos..."
"The hell..." I looked towards where the voice had come from... Could it be... "Lord
Folken." my eyes locked on the man standing partially in the shadows.
"Will you?" asked the man stepping into the light.
I couldn't do anything but stare at him. He was dead... It couldn't be... "Y-Yes." I
managed to say... "Yes, my Lord." How could he be alive?! I'd heard stories of him reappearing
in the Freat War... But I didn't actually think they were true... something war wrong.
"Take her to a room." One of his most recent recruits for the Dragon Slayers approached
me. And lead me out of the room.
"What just happened there?" I asked in a daze.
The man didn't reply.
"Why in the hell did I say yes?"
"Your Loyal to Fanellia... Your loyal to Lord Folken." He said as we turned a corner.
"Mm." I replied. "I'm second in command of Fanallia's army. I'm not supposed to work
with Zaibach."
"Its not that bad here."
I finally looked at him. "Scott?" he smiled at me.
"It's good to see you again Grif."
I looked ahead with a huff. "Traitor."
" You're a Dragon Slayer now too remember."
"I'm nothing of the sort. I don't massacre the innocent." his head fell a little.
"We'er soldiers, we follow orders."
I refused speak with him. Scott had been a childhood friend. I'd know him up until
recently when he disappeared.
I cringed thinking of what I had agreed to... I couldn't disobey my lord? Could I? Scott
opened a door, I walked through into darkness. Or would it be disobeying... After all Lord
Folken was original the heir to Fanellias Throne.
The only light that could be seen was coming from a small crack between the doors of
the balcony.
