The Mystic Moon

Dill sighed as he looked out his window. The Moon was shining and it was pretty. He then turned away and looked to his mother and sighed again. His mother then looked up and smiled at her son.

"Whatever is the matter?" She asked. Dill shook his head.

"Nothing much." He replied and he looked out the window again. Elly put down her knitting and walked over to the window.

"Come on, tell me." Dill looked to her again.

"Do people live there?" Dill looked to the moon. Elly smiled and nodded.

"That's the Mystic Moon, lots of people live there." Dill nodded.

"Is that where daddy is?" Elly shook her head.

"No one knows where your daddy is." She replied, her voice no longer as high and chirpy as it was. "He went away after you were born, it wasn't your fault, but he had to go, it was his job. He fought and he lost." Dill smiled.

"He fought? My daddy was a soldier?" Elly smiled and nodded.

"He was a brilliant soldier with his Guy-Melef."

"I wish I could see my daddy." Dill said. "What was his name?" Elly looked down on her son and smiled again.

"You were named after him and all the greatness that he stood for. His name was Dilandau, he wouldn't tell me his last name though, he said he wanted to keep it secret, so I named you Dill to remember him." Dill smiled.

"My daddy was a secret soldier." He smiled and he looked out his window. "Do you think he could be on that Mystic Moon?" Elly shook her head. "Only one person who ever lived in Gaea had ever been to the Mystic Moon and wasn't born there, his name was Van. Your daddy worked for his brother, Folken. There was a girl from there who ended up in Gaea but she went back after a while. Van is no longer King, Folken is dead and your daddy has gone. They were at one time the three most powerful people in all of Gaea, if only they had been friends, there wouldn't have been a war and maybe your daddy would still be here now. But alas, they hated each other, science was taking over and as a result you will probably never see you father again." Elly looked out the window. Dill looked to his mother again to see a small tear trickling down the side of her face. He then stood up and gave her a hug.

"You've got me." He smiled. Elly gave a slight laugh and nodded. The tear fell on to her sons head. He smiled and hugged her tighter. Elly then closed her eyes.

'Dilandau, why did you have to leave me when I loved you so much?'
